- positron, on 10/23/2007, -2/+40Why is it that I still cannot find a game like this in which your citizenry don't automaticly riot if you choose not to maintain a standing army?
- Yurkshat, on 10/23/2007, -2/+33I declare war!
- JesterRoyal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24Probably because all games like this realize that there are players willing to open up a can of pain on any player at any time and players without a standing army are perpetually doomed.
- Srahh, on 10/23/2007, -3/+23It reminds me of Nation States, just more detailed.
- Hellman109, on 10/23/2007, -4/+23Because these games almost exclusivly force you to be aggressive in order to survive.
If everyone was a pacifist then the game would be boring... - mattev, on 10/23/2007, -1/+13eh nationstates was alright for a while...a long time actually but now i just keep getting the same issues over and over again.
- Artifez, on 10/23/2007, -2/+12I wish it wasn't one of those where you have to wait till the next day to get resources but it's pretty cool.
- MourningZoo, on 10/23/2007, -1/+10I used to play this, I was seriously ranked number one :-D I also invented the efficiency formula and helped input it into the game. Veges :-D
- JoCliMe, on 10/23/2007, -2/+9Ya, Cybernations is cool, glad to see it getting some more publicity...My nation is "Trinia"...but don't declare war on me
- gdelia928, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7like it much better thatn nationstates, mor in depth
- inactive, on 10/23/2007, -1/+6i'm guessing that belongs to someone you know and you want people to declare war on him.
- kimastergeorge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6It's just to add another aspect of the game. It adds one more hurdle when you're trying to grow your population.
It doesn't really matter, it's just a little number that has to be at least a certain amount of your total population. - Ystig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Given there are something like a hundred resource and country management and warfare webgames which have arisen over the past ten years with varying degrees of success, and given that even those were drawing heavily on earlier BBS games, I think calling "ripoff" about *anything* in this genre is right out there.
- aussieaubs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5bring it ON!!!!
- inactive, on 10/23/2007, -4/+7totally, nation states ***** rules
a link for the uninitiated: http://www.nationstates.net/ - jdh24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2already got it :) haha
- joebrender, on 03/06/2008, -0/+2This post is so old, NAAC was destroyed as an alliance since then.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It sounds like fun, but the inherent problem with simulations is that they have the biases and theories of the creators built in. It's like when SimCity first came out - right off the bat I noticed that there was no way to build a city without allowing cars.
I'm sure you could create a nation simulation game where communism works out best - or one where libertarian philosphies are the most successful, or whatever you like. All a game like this can show is whether you have set up your "nation" the way Cyber Nations thinks you should. - Dygear, on 10/23/2007, -1/+3The Digg Alliance ... I can so see that one comming ... if it's not there allready, I'm making it!
- inactive, on 10/23/2007, -1/+3Admin here - Thanks to everyone who dug Cyber Nations. Digg users set a record for new users on Sunday 11/26/2006 with 2,045 new nations created!
- furiouszebra, on 10/23/2007, -2/+4ATTENTION DIGG: MAKE YOUR OWN ALLIANCE AND DO NOT JOIN ANY OF THESE SPAMMER'S ALLIANCES
- Smarterdanu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1haha, you can't have a nation without a police force.
- jdh24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://s15.invisionfree.com/Cyber_Nations/index.php?showforum=60
- dave01890, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2First off, if you do join Cybernations, allow me to welcome you. You have chosen a wonderful game to play, and no doubt will meet many friends with many opinions. I am the ruler of America, and I will try to eliminate some confusion.
Some people have been talking about GOONS and IRON and such. These are alliances of nations within the game. Others include NPO, NpO, TOP, GGA, LUE, LEGION, ODN (I am there), Nordriech, and many other fine associations. Each have their own advantages and ideals. You will find one to suit you. I guarantee.
However making a Digg alliance might mean you get the floor wiped with you. I recommended joining an alliance already in existence as an all Digg alliance will no doubt be viewed as a threat. :-p
It is better then Nationstates too. Kevin is "teh bestest admin evers!" (much respect to Digg admins of course) and cybernations allows you to do things other then just decide your tax rates in fake issues. You can become a military or industrial powerhouse, own aircraft and nukes, and grow until you reach new heights.
It is the best game out there now!! - HeosLink, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It sure does...The inter-alliance stuff going on is totally crazy.
- BlankCheck, on 01/02/2008, -0/+1DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME! IT HAS BECOME CORRUPTED!
We have seen multiple instances in wars where the damage from nuclear attacks against the favored national alliance has been deleted, and the nuclear stockpiles of the attacking nations has been eliminated. When the administrators were questioned concerning the removal of the weapons and damage, they were given a cursory response of 'Such is life. Accept the meddling of the administration or find another game.'
THE GAME HAS BEEN FIXED IN FAVOR OF THE RULING ALLIANCE! IT IS NO LONGER FAIR! DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME!!! - MsSunshine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Scandals , Intrigue and spiez OHNOES!!!
You can play the game in 5 minutes.
Learning to play it while maximizing your nation takes a few weeks.
But if you join the game I would sign up for the CN Forum. It's what makes the game full of intrigue and challenging.
The forums http://s15.invisionfree.com/Cyber_Nations/index.php? - PeppermintPig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2While it's a little cheap to be advertising like this, I joined CN, and being a liberty minded person, was actually sent a recruit offer by the FCC and they really do have a great alliance! Of course, it helps if you're Libertarian, Anarcho-Capitalist, or perhaps mentally insane and love your guns, alot. FCC does have the token Socialist, but everybody is able to debate one another and at the end of the day nobody has blown one another to hell and back. Really mature group of people at the FCC (Love that name too, it's made of IRONY)!
- TravisS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2BUT....does it have scandals?
- TheG2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2http://games.swirve.com/earth/
Thats the same idea...its fun, but built on ad's and is also wait and play. - jdh24, on 10/23/2007, -2/+2Join the Fifth Colum Confederation alliance http://z10.invisionfree.com/FCC/index.php?act=idx
:) - u2fan4894, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I made a few nations, because I got bored easily because you have to wait to get money, i wish it wasnt like that. my nations are marxist eire, eire commune, and the UEOVT (that stands for united empire of vermont)
- Kajdav, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I think registration is back up, is it not? BTW, NADC is a good choice for you peace loving people out there. GAURD (an inter-alliance alliance) keeps us out of inter-alliance wars, plus, we give lots of aid!
- swizzley, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Argh! I wanted to be the nation of Petoria, but it's already taken.
- Dementual, on 01/27/2008, -2/+2Aw. Why'd this link make it to the front page. Now there's shameless plugs to alliances other than the GGA. WTF, guys.
http://www.grandglobalalliance.net
You all won't have worries. Just please don't make a Digg alliance.
-Dementual - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Awesome game. I wonder if I can get by as Switzerland....
- Washu73, on 06/30/2009, -0/+0This is a great game, and it can take as little or as much time as you please.
At a bare minimum it will take 5 minutes of your day.
But for the maximum enjoyment the offsite forums offer a dynamic and exciting political landscape for you to interact with.
Also join the New Polar Order once you sign up for this game, it is one of the better alliances in the game and has many programs to get you up and running with the big players in a few short weeks.
http://polarorder.net - Orchh, on 12/24/2007, -0/+0CN is great.
Although i don't like when you win a battle you can't conquer the country / only allowed to have one country.
Quite obnoxiously-annoying. - TopherT, on 10/23/2007, -2/+2Democracy is similar but only a domestic game, international problems don't come into the picture.
- zeklown, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Trying to find a game like this but for download, anybody know one?
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Woo, I got my nation EXACTLY on my house.
- SweetMofugginJ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You guys should make your own alliance. Call it the Digg Alliance or something. DA. Whatever, It would be amazing. Dont join these other nub alliances. Make your own.
- Assatsu, on 03/20/2008, -0/+0Totally wrong... I just joined and I have to say it's worth it! Game is quite complex but if you can grasp what you have to do it's a lot of fun . (Although most of the fun is in the community of your alliance)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I started a nation and would like to join an alliance. Has an official Digg alliance been created or should I just go with one of the bigger alliances?
- TheVanguard, on 05/16/2008, -0/+0No gods. No masters. Give me liberty or give me death!
- christof53, on 11/14/2007, -1/+1I tried to register but it said I am banned...it was my first visit to the site. Huh?
- rmccs0x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Red Sox South is now growing.
- Seppie66, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2If Digg nations want to make there own Alliance I see nothing wrong with that, and if you need help with it in anyway you can come to the NAAC forums http://z4.invisionfree.com/NAAC/index.php?act=idx and ask for info on getting it up and running. (any questions in general to help you, if its about building your nation or setting up a Digg Alliance)
I wont ask you to join the NAAC but you are welcome to, there are a bunch of good alliances in the CN world, yes NAAC is one of them. The one you join is up to you, but if you need answers to your questions visit us and we will help as much as we can.
Good Luck and enjoy CN - SpockGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm just waiting for Nationstates 2 to come out. Supposed to by the end of this year.
- melganis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0aww man, someone needs too plee so that they can get more registration, i played a while back, but totally spaced for a while and was deleted, now
