- ymirscorpse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Man, I suck at that game.
- altf4exits, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14right now I'll digg anything that's not a physics game.
- shableep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13the game loads up, i'm ready for some mad retro fun. hit play. crack my knuckles. first thing i do... leap off the edge.
- mykelefty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgHy9HNvLKo
- srok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11the controls just don't match what I want that little bugger to do... Hey Q, here's a hint, don't F'n jump off the back when nothing is anywhere near you.
- dimmerswitch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I remember being better at this game. Damn my aging reflexes.
- kkayel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Its harder than it looks.
- longhair, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7This game need to be released on the Xbox Live Arcade..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I rotated my keyboard and it's not getting any better.
I guess I should mention I'm on a laptop. :-p - Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Try playing it in a retro arcade and you'll understand it's appeal.
- TheWalkingDude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It gets easier after a few tries. Here are some other classic arcade games.
Asteroids, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Space Invaders:

Who the @!#? is Q*bert? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q%2Abert
Saturday Supercade: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmfT-YPXo4M - Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Don't worry, this emulation isn't totally accurate. The original game is much slower and relies less on twitch reflexes. You haven't gotten worse, the game has just been made more difficult.
- SimpleC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@!#?@!
- j34nn07, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Q*Bert : A classic ... Pac-Man : A classic... But... I suck-a-lot a these games!! It's so tough... But... addictive... BRB : Q*bert.... :)
- cjellibebi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I seem to remember hearing that the strange sound made when Q-bert 'swears' was created by sending random signals to the Arcade-machine's speech-synthesizer. I wonder if there's an emulated version of the speech-synthesizer used in Q-bert that I can experiment with to create weird sounds.
- dpknc84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Rotate keyboard 45 degrees and problem solved.... until that damn spring snake gets you.
- ShouldBeStudyin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I agree. The controls seems to be a bit off.....or maybe it's just me.
- dawnyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2OMG! this was my favorite arcade game as a kid. Oh the memories. But I think he was cuter before lol
- jonssonar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4haha exactly what I did
- Mushroonaut, on 07/11/2008, -0/+2I´ve never been good at this game. I think I have the same problem with the controls as most of us do.
Looks easy, but it´s damn HARD! - Errik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you want to play the real deal of this and live in New York City, Barcade in Williamsburg Brooklyn has the original, 25cents a play... cant go wrong!
p.s. they also have a great microbrew selection. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's harder with keys because you really need to the joystick to jump 45 degrees, rather than the U/D/L/R arrows. It makes it somewhat hard to predict/figure out where Qbert is going to move, and you can't really stop to think in this game.
- leobaby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2 Anyone remember Pogo Joe?
- gregh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2digg dugg
- CarolJude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Back in my college days I think I managed ONCE to hop from one cube to another. Every single other time I would just go falling off the side. I'm not going to be revisiting those halcyon days...
- KamikazeeDriver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2in the 80s, i ruled games like these. Nowadays, I do quite well in the modern games like battlefield 2, etc, yet, can't remember how to even play these simplistic games.
- bigredsk10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, the creator of Q*Bert cited Escher as his inspiration.
http://www.arcade-history.com/index.php?page=detail&id=2094 - tech42er, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've always hated the controls for this game! But it's a good game. I hate how I can do two levels well, and then when I start the third level jump the wrong way off the pyramid, even though the levels never change!
- elbergel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...I always f*ckin hated this game!
- Spacejack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You could probably dig it out of the Q*bert MAME driver, I think it doesn't use samples anymore.
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There have been a few decent emulations and updates, and you can always play on MAME.
- giid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not working/slowest site ever. :(
- Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It helps to angle your keyboard if you have that luxury.
- tech42er, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is that the point? Is part of the charm of Q*bert that the controls are difficult? Or is that a side effect of playing it on a computer (laptop here also, so I can't move the keyboard).
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Man. I'm bad at this here game.
- giid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought the same thing... The perspective works, not sure how Escher was an inspiration.
- BlameCanada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who else had one of these?

- triplehelix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1its available online for the ps3.
- orangethirteen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3me too
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I remember this game when I was a nipper. I couldn't cope at all with the 3d aspect - it was a new concept in gaming for me at the time - and kept falling off the edges.
- RedLegBebop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A much more faithful adaptation:
http://game-oldies.com/node/35 - cyrus6, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's been twenty odd years and I still I hate this effin game. Maybe someone will make a flash version of 'Marble Madness' next . . .
- finnishgeek, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Q*bert in Family guy: http://youtube.com/watch?v=TfCNVqV_luE&mode=related&search=
- jonssonar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is it just me, or are old games much harder than current? I don't care the intricacy of Civilization, Age of Empires, or mastering Splinter Cell, this Qbert game kicks my ass!!!
- antispin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's another recent version: R*bert
http://www.nalley.ca/rbert/ - jockser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1my absolute fav
cheers mate - zarex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1A nod to Escher? Does he now get credit for every pseudo-3d-cube structure? Please.
- wyrder42, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1(self-deleted--redundant comment)
- DyDx, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1hmmm
Am I the only one who played this game for 30 seconds and thought "Holy *****, I can't believe this was released... let alone REreleased!" (I was playing it on Playstation). It's such a stupid, boring, awful game, I can't fathom how it has survived the tests of time..
