An ANIMATED jigsaw puzzle... VERY interesting concept.
brl.ntt.co.jp — For something so simple, this was very fun. I'd love to see more of these.
- 1403 diggs
- digg it
- shertzerj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35Easy, but it was fun for a minute. I agree, I'd like to see more!
- 2damntall, on 10/12/2007, -96/+6Yea, it was neat that you had to wait at some points to figure out how peices lined up.
unrelated, I drive a Saturn too. SL1, 97, 200k miles and sitll tickin. They have a lot of bang fo the buck considering their low price tag. - shertzerj, on 10/12/2007, -87/+4Yes they do. I have an '02 SC2 with about 54k on it and it runs like it's brand new. Didn't pay much for it considering everything you get.
- Firemeboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+96What is this, product placement in Digg comments now? :)
I find Coke both refreshing and good for my various rashes and warts. - snypa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Nice and fun game. But I think the fact that it's animated makes it easier.
- kicken18, on 10/12/2007, -32/+8hang on...you think its great having a car doing 54,000 KM's and still running like new is anything good? You yanks need to join the diesel revolution like the us Europeans, 70,000 MILES in a diesel is easy, just about warmed up at that point
- sambowatkins, on 10/12/2007, -23/+4They didn't say KM, they said k, which means thousands. But I agree with you, my 1987 Mercedes diesel just rolled over 211,000 and it runs as well as any other car on the road.
- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11How about one with a hot babe washing a car? That would be invigorating.
- shertzerj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Honestly, I didn't think this story would ever make it to the front page, hence the off-topic comments. :)
- 2damntall, on 10/12/2007, -96/+6Yea, it was neat that you had to wait at some points to figure out how peices lined up.
- 2damntall, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19I noticed his icon. His and mine are both products however, as are many digg icons... lol I just realized how big of tools we are.
- afex, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30a car logo for a digg icon? you guys are pathe...wait...
- defectDS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I remember playing something like this a long long time ago. The memory is very blurred and has little depth, but I remember playing a video game on a computer when I was a wee child and having to put together a puzzle with animated pieces that formed an animated pattern when put together.
Awesome nonetheless!- PFS1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Me too. For me it was Mindwalker on the Amiga...you delved inside the mind of schizophrenic patient, and had to travel through the mind, fighting off "bad thoughts", to find tubes to the brain and then collect and reassemble "fragments of sanity". These were puzzles pieces filled with a psychedelic, constantly flowing pattern. At 5 years old, it was pretty trippy *****.
Anyone play this one? - GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't know where you played it, but I know I remember puzzles like this in Banjo-Kazooie on the N64.
- seventoes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ahh the memories.... They need to burn.
- PFS1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Me too. - alexp2ad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Cool idea, but seemed like most of the time I was just putting together a blue jigsaw based on the shape of the pieces.
- quentinmcalmott, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah, it would be more challenging (and more fun, possibly) if all the shapes were square, or somewhat uniform.
- tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Maybe when that electronic paper becomes widespread we'll see real puzzles with moving images somehow. That'd be fun.
- bntphoretwunny, on 10/12/2007, -16/+2yeah, hippies would love that. except those stinking jobless deadheads wouldnt be able to afford it.
- ScottMaximus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Put a Shirt on Hippie!
- Toydriver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Interesting but it was a little too easy
- kicken18, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Easy, but fun, MORE MORE
- arnar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Did anyone notice the small blue dots - which seemed to move with the pieces? Moving the piece so that the dot was at the upper-left corner resulted in the piece being in the correct spot.
- Raguel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I did. Wonder why these points were needed though
- swingsetacid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I think it's because the link takes you straight to the swf, so you see everything off to the side of the stage. He probably used it during testing. If you embedded the swf on an html page properly, you wouldn't see the dots.
- ARPANET, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2like Banjo Kazooie :3
- JerryMouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fun to do and watch. Not so hard, although a lot off the image was sky.
When I was almost ready I had lost a piece? It was siting underneath a another one, that was fun too.
Nice work, and some more challenging ones would be nice.- leckert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree, more would be great especially if they were more difficult.
- rosenz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Sorry for the self-promotion, but I have to chime in and say that we had something like this 6 years ago (released Oct 2000). A little more challenging, too.
http://justjigsawpuzzles.com/jigsaw_moving.html
There are 4 to choose from.- tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Ah awesome, they work much better. Shame about the load time though.
- hansch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hmm...did anyone notice the tiny blue dots? when moving the blocks...just make sure the tiny dot that moves with that block is moved to the top left corner and it'll be in the correct position. But I think not all blocks come with the dots.
- groo68, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it might be more fun or challenging if all the pieces were small and square. but the point was the animation which was cool.
- excalibrax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Da Vinci Code Challange from google had something like this
- rgov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, it was the last puzzle of the Final Challege. You had to put together the puzzle while a trailer for the movie played. Pretty difficult. You had to be looking in the right space when the image changed, otherwise you would get lost. Especially difficult that so much of the trailer was solid black.
I did terribly :-

- igutekunst, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I found the animation mad it much simpler. It was easy to see relationships between pieces. I'd love to see more.
- yish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i've seen one like this before, which was very well done. Unfortunatly, the content of the animation was X rated, so I'm not sure I should put a link here.
- Drumrboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6just post it with a NSFW disclaimer...
- wolver1ne, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Nothing new. This was shown in one of the WGF (Avalon) demos.
- imikedaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I take it no one here has played Banjo-Tooie? You needed to solve animated puzzles like this to unlock new levels.
- smaisch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yup! I was thinking the same thing. It's also the same in one of the Mario Party games.
- oggusfoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There is also a ds jigsaw game that has a few animated puzzles "Puzzle Series Vol1 Jigsaw Puzzle". The menues are in Japanese but the animations aren't. It's actually really fun, think I'll go play one now.
- terranaut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Also the Atari Jaguar JagCD add on device came with VidGrid, a sliding block puzzle where you have to reassemble 8 Geffen label rock videos.
- nobeaner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That was interesting to see. Too bad it doesn't advance to a different one when you solve the puzzle.
- Yotunii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bet someone else said this too, but this is like Banjo-Tooie.
- paOol, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1o rly?
- AugustZephyr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not only is the puzzle awesome and entertaining. It is a picture of a skydiver. SWEET!
- LLXerxes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I never would have figured it out with a web-title that says FLY.
- MaNiaC510, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1man bananas are good.
- KevQuinn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My multimedia company did a video puzzle like this 5 years ago using QuickTime, so its not something new, but definately cool!
- Scatropolis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://www.eyezmaze.com/eyezblog/2005/10/movie_puzzle_ver0.html
Here's another one - tripm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nice game. But I think the fact that it's animated makes it animated.
- toxicgonzo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Any old school mac gamers remember Blit?
That was the ultimate animated jigsaw puzzle game. - pnutbutr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've seen this puzzle over a year ago. But it did provide me a with 4 mins of entertainment while here at work.
- rojaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0agreed, it was fun, but very short lived.
- TrueJournals, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very neat idea... pretty fun too... well planned out, but not executed as well as I thought it would... for example, shouldn't the pieces snap together if you get them together right?
- saxophonefreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0there should be more of these around
- KJSatz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pretty easy, but still mildly entertaining.
- arnott7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool , but the one on Final challenge for Google Davinci-code quest was harder , as it was time sensitive and prizes involved.
- Maracle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0id like more challenging/movement in these kind of things, i really like the concept
- yahoofrom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1bokuwa suprised.
- Firethorne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Reminds me of the slider puzzle game put out by Conspiracy & Digital Dynamite.
http://pouet.net/prod.php?which=24474 - wilwrk4internet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*cough cough* Banjo-Kazooie rip off
- stickman638, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow! Those things really wreck my brain. The yellow ball one was very hard.(link on comments)
