- jeremyduffy, on 02/29/2008, -3/+43They don't know if it was a single spider or many? I'd hate the see the spider that could spin that thing by itself!

- Shiftyeyedgoat, on 02/29/2008, -1/+30Yeah, let's piss off the giant spider with the ability to make 540 feet of spider webs.
That's a fantastic idea. - Nobiting, on 02/29/2008, -0/+25yeah, a few deer and a tourist.

- Ajajadude, on 02/29/2008, -0/+14Hey, it could be fun.
...while watching from a satellite feed half-a-world away... - TecK415, on 02/29/2008, -1/+15It's actually thousands of smaller spider webs, forming one giant one.
- Thugacation, on 02/29/2008, -0/+13IT'S A TRAP!

- judicar, on 02/29/2008, -6/+16It's a giant dupe that's for sure ... welcome to 6 months ago.
http://digg.com/general_sciences/Giant_Spider_web_ ... - Treecake, on 02/29/2008, -0/+10This has been added to my list of horrific things that I must never witness.
- dannenberg, on 02/29/2008, -4/+13I like animals.
- Dumbledorito, on 02/29/2008, -0/+9So do these spiders, apparently.
- TecK415, on 02/29/2008, -1/+9Texas Parks and Wildlife Department biologist Mike Quinn was that it may have resulted from a “mass dispersal” event. In such an event, millions of tiny spiders or spiderlings spin out silk filaments to ride air currents in a phenomenon known as “ballooning.”

- RiotKiller, on 02/29/2008, -1/+9i think that spider has way to much time on its hands.
- k0001, on 02/29/2008, -0/+7don't do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- IceSabre, on 02/29/2008, -0/+7This is a couple of months old even though the "artcile" was new. Was last fall IIRC. It was millions of spiders, not one. The park people said that it was most odd because the type of spiders involved are not naturally communal. Was actually thinking about driving over to see it but 1) there would be thousands of other people by the time I heard it and 2) it didn't really last that long. Around 4 or 5 days if I remember.
- Nougat, on 02/29/2008, -0/+7Considering that spiders have a generally short lifespan, it had to have been more than one spider.
- MrJavodotCom, on 02/29/2008, -4/+11giant webs O.O
- kss42, on 02/29/2008, -0/+6Infernal Parasite

Ungoliant? - bigdoug2005, on 02/29/2008, -4/+10180 meters, huh? It's 180 meters long?
I'm pretty positive you meant 180 square meters. Learn your units because only 0 makes sense without them. - porkdanish, on 02/29/2008, -0/+5. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . _________
