Animals can act very calm and cool even when something is very wrong - it's a defense against predators, to not show weakness. Acting normally does not mean "DON'T WORRY THE CAT IS FINE." My dog fell off the bed, yelped in pain, limped. He then walked normally within 15 minutes - if I hadn't seen him fall I would never have taken him to the vet and he would never have gotten care for his very badly broken leg.

Imagine if one of us were to land neck first into a desk, smashing our chin and lower jaw on the way down and the force causing your hind section to flip up over the desk only to be body slammed onto it.

    I know for sure if that were me, there would be no walking away from that accident. Just a lump of breathless, motionless pain.
