- mxxz, on 06/22/2009, -14/+28Next they'll be regulating your breathing and taxing it.
- sgerwel1985, on 06/23/2009, -2/+15The fact they even discussed this is beyond me. Bad economy, unemployment skyrocketing and they are talking about cow farts?
I really hate our representatives. - primatage, on 06/23/2009, -1/+13Hey I heard there was a cow meeting in here?
- inactive, on 06/22/2009, -14/+25Money grab. All this will do is cause our food prices to go up.
- absolutelytrue, on 06/23/2009, -1/+12Will the real cow please stand up?
- MissOthmar, on 06/22/2009, -1/+11My avatar.
- hbyrne, on 06/22/2009, -1/+11Burp.
- adenine, on 06/23/2009, -5/+15And what produces more methane than livestock you say?
Termites...seriously.
Anyways, this whole global warming bs needs to be put to death before it puts us there. - inactive, on 06/23/2009, -0/+9Isn't the "Grass->Cow->Methane->Grass" cycle a closed-loop so that there is no net emission by the cows? The amount of methane/CO2 emitted by a cow is limited by the amount of grass it eats, and since all the grass will grow back in the next year by extracting CO2 from the atmosphere, how can there be any year-to-year net increase in CO2/methane?
- PeachesTheCow, on 06/22/2009, -3/+11Hey, that's me!
- cowsgonemadd3, on 06/22/2009, -2/+10Hello I have been using this avatar for years now. Stop taking my avatar people! haha
- inactive, on 06/23/2009, -3/+10And what produces more methane than termites you say? Bacteria.
All legislation borne of the man-made global warming myth is a money grab. - absolutelytrue, on 06/22/2009, -0/+6Actually, Austin, I thought it was a picture of one of your cows. ;)
- Cow194234, on 06/23/2009, -0/+6Gotta digg this as my name is cow.
- offrdbandit, on 06/23/2009, -0/+6Never waste a crisis!
- absolutelytrue, on 06/22/2009, -0/+5Wait a sec.. you have cows too?
- Daniel591992, on 06/23/2009, -0/+5Mooo?
- m0n0kr0m3, on 06/23/2009, -2/+7This is very close to being *****.......
- Loki101, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4We should connect fart collectors to cow behinds to gather up methane as an alternative fuel!
- nickwinstead, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2wow, quite the amount of details here
- TonyLocNE, on 06/23/2009, -2/+4Smart girl. Sounds like she has a bright future ahead of her.
- fuzzybeard, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2BREAKING NEWS: Senator Vilos Cohaagen (PITA - Mars) has introduced legislation to more closely regulate atmospheric constituents under the dome in all sectors. Mars citizens will also be seeing a dramatic increase in their utilities bill beginning next month.
- Mike17102, on 06/23/2009, -1/+3Its a real ***** shame that food wont be getting more expensive because of some ***** carbon tax that the idiots following the Goracle would force on us.
- appleofdischord, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2Maybe she was saying you were crab infested? I can't imagine what other kind of lair she could have been calling you.
- TonyLocNE, on 06/23/2009, -2/+4The sheer fact that this was even being debated just goes to show you how far the "green government" will go to stomp and control all aspects of an individual's life and liberty.
- tgc1, on 06/23/2009, -1/+3Hey, don't bring logic into this. There are scientists hard at work trying to get federal funding to support political agendas that'll force us all to pay more for ***** for no reason.
- appleofdischord, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2That's an excellent point. The only net emissions are from the transport of cows and feed using fossil fuels.
- blarch, on 06/23/2009, -1/+2http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vm1Z-mjru_A
- TonyLocNE, on 06/23/2009, -1/+2Nah... this is digg. All you will find here are a bunch of pigs named Old Major, Napoleon, and Snowball.
- adenine, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1You speak the truth.
Carry on, good sir. - JoeParanoid, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Eat less meat, fewer cows. Simple, really.
- tgc1, on 06/23/2009, -1/+2THE SKY IS FALLING! EVERYBODY PANIC!
No seriously, I agree. It's ***** (no pun intended). - Jeepinator, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Everywhere in Tennessee I see cows grazing all day in their fields. They bring them in during the winter.
- cowsgonemadd3, on 06/24/2009, -0/+1Nah it is not my cow. Ours are all black and white with a few red and white ones.
- m0n0kr0m3, on 06/23/2009, -1/+1What would give you that idea?
- sassafras1232, on 06/23/2009, -2/+2Pollution from animals should be debated, and probably limited. Livestock is just as much a "factory" as the steel plant down the road, and their input and output is manipulated, controlled, and legislated in a very similar manner. If they are emitting greenhouse gasses they should be limited, and some serious research should be done to see if it can be reduced. The answer might be as cheap as some tums every other day...but we'll never know until people stop laughing at the subject.
- DrKnowitall, on 06/23/2009, -0/+0I think you're on to something here.
- bigp3rm, on 06/23/2009, -4/+4I was dating this chick back in the day. I told her about cow methane and it's effect on the environment. She broke up with me and said I was a lair. Over that subject! I think if I was going to lie about anything it wouldn't have been about cow farts.
- inactive, on 06/23/2009, -1/+1"Buildings can be retrofitted or built with pollution-limiting technology. Animals can't."
Actually i read an article a while ago where cows were fed something or their diet was changed and it reduced a large percentage of their methane output.
Also "Liquid manure management systems, such as lagoons and holding tanks, can cause significant methane production and these systems are commonly used at larger swine and dairy operations"
http://epa.gov/methane/sources.html
"The average cow emits between 80kg and 120kg of methane a year, equivalent to the annual carbon emissions from an average family car."
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/feb/17/ ...
This isn't a joke, people are taking it seriously, and as sassafras1232 said, livestock is as much an industry as anything else. These aren't animals in their natural habitat. - fuzzybeard, on 06/23/2009, -1/+1You like looking at the southbound end of a northbound cow?
- inactive, on 06/23/2009, -1/+1Corn (or grass, or other feed) = CO2 + water + sunshine.
- stephhicks68, on 06/23/2009, -7/+7Dug for "cow burps." But seriously, livestock is a huge contributor to global climate change. The artificial diet so many cows are fed (corn, grains), cheap but not natural for the cows is a big contributor.
- DavidNiven, on 06/23/2009, -4/+3Good. Al Gore was hoping he wouldn't have to make the name of his kingdom "The Goracle and his Church of Global Warming & Cow Flatulence...and Burpage." Run-on titles are so passe.
- Countess666, on 06/23/2009, -1/+0if you'd actually known what the problem is you wouldn't have suggested anything this stupid.
the carbon in you breath all came from your food, which first took it out of atmosphere to grow.
its called the short carbon cycle, and NO new carbon is introduced to the atmosphere.
also the methane cows produce will break down in the atmosphere into CO2 and hydrogen after a while, so it doesn't stay up there for 1000s of years like CO2 does, and all its carbon came from the short carbon cycle and is therefore harmless. - papasmurph, on 06/23/2009, -1/+0Let's face it, most people are ignorant, and prefer to be guided by what they learned in school or by their parents, instead of facing reality.
- JasonJones99, on 06/23/2009, -2/+1Can't be a post having to do with cow burps..... I just find it funny this type of thing had to be actually talked about as not being included.
- organik, on 06/23/2009, -3/+2Stop eating meat, fools.
- NiftyG, on 06/23/2009, -3/+0These days, cows don't usually eat grass or get to walk around on pastures.
They live in feedlots and eat feed -- whatever that is... (probably corn, but probably lots of other crap as well) - ivan423, on 06/23/2009, -5/+2I am watching The Wonder Years in Justin TV. Excellent show.
