        There are a select few who not only care, but expect us all to care that they care, so they post comments telling us how old the image is ("than the internet?" I doubt it) or how it's a dupe. But the fact is it doesn't matter.

        digg is not the place for fresh and never duplicated content, specifically because it is "moderated" by random users on the internet. If you want quality, defined as new and unique content, you have to have real moderators in charge. There are other sites for that stuff.

      1) It's made it to the front page because it isn't old to everybody, plus it is a picture of a cat, which generally means "this will go straight to the front page".

      2) People are being buried for pointing out that it is old, because the bury button is there for that. Just as people who use the comment system to point out that a submission is "Awesome!" or "Really interesting!" are dugg down; so are the cynical clowns who think that pointing out that something is "OLD" in order to make them seem 'old-school' and 'cool'. It actually achieves the complete opposite, since you're far more concerned over the age rather than the quality of the submission.

      If you're so against OLD material, find a new way of pointing it out. Your current method is OLD.

          The OLD argument has been going around for way longer than Digg has been here, and the general consensus in my experience has been that it's entirely pointless pointing out that it's old - clicking through and getting on with your life is generally the better choice.

          I love that I get dugg down for typing in full sentences... God forbid I should use the comment system to... comment, as opposed to making the same old bad pun or adding a pointless +1 to the post before mine!
