- Doomguy13, on 07/11/2009, -7/+215So it's basically a zombie cat? ***** AWESOME!
- ChromaVita, on 07/11/2009, -10/+187I don't see how you can derive that from one relatively short (seemingly exaggerated) description. He said he's gone to the vet numerous times to see if the cat is in pain or anything. Is it impossible to think that the cat may be content with this new life? The owner clearly isn't miserable. He seems to love the cat anyways.
- Oculus, on 07/11/2009, -69/+238"She pretty much stopped cleaning herself. Her feet stink, she usually trails dingleberries, has a constant secretion of goo coming from her eyes and keeps a perpetual hunk of dried cat food clinging to her nose."
Not to sound insensitive, but maybe it's time to have her put down? It amazes me how some people cannot just let go of their pets, even if it's in the best interest of the pet. "Oh, that's my cat that has a debilitating disease, is blind, crippled, doesn't eat, can't walk, and is probably in an immense amount of pain. But, we love her so much that we're not ready to let go yet." So sad. - Hardflip, on 07/11/2009, -0/+139The cat passed away sometime later that year:

- badqat, on 07/11/2009, -4/+88Nice to know I'm not the only one who gives their cat baths.
Our cat is 13 years old. And I'll be absolutely tickled if she makes it 7 more, even if she were bitten by a radioactive cockroach. - thaprinze, on 07/11/2009, -1/+73http://www.videovat.com/videos/17642/family-guy-pe ...
- inevitablity, on 07/11/2009, -1/+63lol are you saying your mother should be shot?
- schwab002, on 07/11/2009, -3/+55Exactly ChromaVita. All of you suggesting the cat be put down clearly didn't read the whole thing. If the vet says the cat isn't suffering, I don't see what the problem is besides having to put up with cleaning up after the cat and bathing it.
Just because the cat is messy and smells doesn't mean it's suffering. Clearly the owner loves his cat and I doubt he would let it suffer. - bigteebo, on 07/11/2009, -0/+45Thought the proper term was "radroach".

- alexacastrato, on 07/11/2009, -2/+43That is 3 lbs. of BADASS
- sockpuppets, on 07/11/2009, -22/+62I love animals and completely agree. This tale was sad, that cat is suffering.
- WhiskeyLemur, on 07/11/2009, -2/+39The difference is that humans are capable of making their own decisions, and of communicating those decisions to us. If one of my loved ones was in constant pain and wanted death as a release, hell YES I would support their decision!
- beautifulbeast, on 07/11/2009, -7/+43Have you even read the whole story? The owner explains that he loves the cat, she's not suffering, they've given up the surgeries, medicines etc and just letting nature follow it's course.
- undervalued, on 07/11/2009, -2/+33This is the answer to the eternal question. "What if Catwoman and Spiderman had a love child who was bought up in a slum?"
- sildude, on 07/11/2009, -6/+34The point was that the cat wasn't suffering. And killing an animal for being a bit dirty and hard to handle for the owner is way more ***** up.
- dafragsta, on 07/11/2009, -0/+27Clearly, he was born in a puddle of gasoline on a piece of rusty scrap metal. He's the only cat to have scratched Chuck Norris, to which Chuck replied "Well played, cat. Well played."
- OLTP, on 07/11/2009, -1/+27I understand the thyroid problem might cause most of the cat's issues, but I can't help but think that cup of half-and-half every day is probably causing the vomiting and inability to make it to the litter box. I'm surprised in the trips to the vet, the vet never brought that up.
- odkin, on 07/11/2009, -1/+27"that year" being 2007.

""Learn to earn millions flipping houses in the HOT real estate market!" - Cyrusnov, on 07/11/2009, -0/+24"One morning, as True Colors was waking up from anxious dreams, it discovered that in bed it had been changed into a cockroach..."
- imikedaman, on 07/11/2009, -4/+27It's a little late now since the cat died, but someone should have told the guy that loud purring can also mean the cat was in significant pain and distress.
- lolwatermelon, on 07/11/2009, -1/+20Cats are very lactose intolerant.
- JUSTINS13, on 07/11/2009, -1/+19thats what it reads like to me
- jadae, on 07/11/2009, -3/+20They ought to spell 'ought' right too!
- JUSTINS13, on 07/11/2009, -1/+16RIP CAT-ROACH
*Did she get stepped on?* - Halsfield, on 07/11/2009, -1/+16I had a cat that had a lot of similar symptoms to this and she was dying. She said herself that she stopped giving it the proper meds. My cat died of renal failure at the age of 14 or so and had vomiting, constant diarrhea, became very careless with her appearance(stopped cleaning, etc) because she was so tired and sick, etc.
- inactive, on 07/11/2009, -1/+15I think most cats when they get that old develop a stupid thyroid.
- mrskitch, on 07/11/2009, -6/+20I totally agree with you. My wife is a vet tech and this is considered animal cruelty in a lot of perspectives.
It doesn't matter if the cat is in pain. If they can't perform there simple instincts of cleaning and are vomitting constantly then it isn't happy. Cats are natural clean-freaks and that isn't right. And yes, I did read the whole story. - IAmRoot, on 07/11/2009, -0/+14It sounds to me like a case of a cat needing to be confused so it will remember to clean itself. He should really call up Confuse-A-Cat. They did a great job with mine. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2Je1CEPkUM
- DangerCollie, on 07/11/2009, -4/+17That's a tough call, even when it's livestock. One my old nanny goats is past where she can nurse. Her udders are swollen and look terrible, the treatment is expensive and has side effects. I decided to put her down this fall, the last ride to the meat plant. For my livestock the last act of their life is becoming chunks of smoked meat in risotto. Can't do that with your cat...well, I suppose you could but it would be a liiiiitle creepy.
When it's a pet, it's really hard to be objective. A cat that's unable to groom itself is not in very good shape. Cats are constantly grooming themselves. I think a lot of people keep their pets alive way past where they should for their own sake more than the animal. When your pet becomes a walking corpse, it's time to let go and give the poor thing a decent send off. - pault107, on 07/11/2009, -1/+14TSK05, if you were in constant pain, ***** and puking everywhere, would you want someone to keep you alive against your will?
- bobbi21, on 07/11/2009, -0/+12don't know why you got dugg down lolwatermelon. cat's are lactose intolerant. You shouldn't feed them milk even if they seem to want it. Think it usually just causes diarrhea and not vomiting but the cat is pretty sick in general so I assume you can get both.
- Alphateam, on 07/11/2009, -5/+17Did you read how the vet says she isn't suffering. So you can tell from one picture and one story how bad off she is? Nevermind the guy who went to vet school and actually got to see the paitent. Yes you are right. douche bag.
- Fjosnisse, on 07/11/2009, -2/+14My cat had something similar. "Goo" from the eyes is a sign of kidney failure, although it was hard to do we had to put her down, she was in too much pain. I implore you to do the same.
- neonoodle, on 07/11/2009, -0/+12I think you could see the difference if the cat wants your attention, jumps on your lap, and purrs when it's being pet. In those situations, it's probably not in pain or distress.
- michrech, on 07/11/2009, -12/+24I feel *exactly* the same way after watching my mother force one of her cats to live far beyond the time it should have been put down. Just like the story, it quit cleaning itself, it was urinating all over her apartment, it was in constant pain (just like the cat she had with feline AIDS, complete with infected teeth/gums, etc), the thing STUNK, but of course she couldn't be bothered to bathe it.
People who do this to their pets aught to be shot. - tillerman00, on 07/12/2009, -1/+12You should have rubbed your nanny's udders in yak butter, that works great on withered udders. I'm a farmer myself and I always have at least a quart of yak butter in the pantry for just such incidents as the nanny-suffering you recounted. As a farmer, I know it's best to think twice before putting down one of my stock. It seems you got caught without your yak butter, now you're left with goat blood on your hands. I'd never let that happen on my farm.
.
Ok, so I'm not a farmer. What, are you gonna put me down too now? - kalevipoeg, on 07/11/2009, -1/+12Life is a great thing. Even if the cat is in pain, it wants to live and is fighting for it. Only a dumb motherf.... would take that kind of a cool and tough cat and kill it. When it is time for that cat to pass out, the nature will do its own thing.
- deadbaby, on 07/11/2009, -0/+10^^ It's a personal choice. Sick/Old animals will often stop eating and drinking to die. This one did not.
- bewareofmoose, on 07/11/2009, -2/+12Sounds to me like the owner has taken the cat to the vet several times. If a vet is worth anything, they will recommend euthanasia if it's needed. Since this hasn't happened, the vet must think that the cat is not actually in quite a lot of pain.
- counterplex, on 07/11/2009, -0/+10Radroach? Nothing good ever came of a radroach.
- velveetaavenger, on 07/12/2009, -0/+10Before I outgrew my cat allergies we gave our cats baths all the time. It cuts out enough of the dander that you stop getting sick and don't have to give them away. None of them ever stopped cleaning themselves though
- KRG12345, on 07/11/2009, -4/+13Kitty!
- HappyScrappy, on 07/11/2009, -0/+9Get with the program, radioactivity is old and busted. Genetically modified is the new bogeyman. It apparently even gives you organic web shooters.

- LostOutEast, on 07/11/2009, -3/+11We actually had a cat that looked just like that. She never cleaned herself, even when she was young and perfectly healthy. There was nothing wrong with her, she was just weird. We ended up putting her down a few years ago. She got old and we kept her as happy as possible, but there came a time when we knew she would be better off if we put her down because she was starting to be in pain. RIP Clark =(
- Miamisun, on 07/11/2009, -1/+9Now i am depressed. Mortality sucks.
