- MentalRay, on 01/04/2009, -9/+56To let rats infest our homes? No thanks.
- bassophonic, on 01/06/2009, -13/+46dugg down for: A.) "I can haz cheezburger?" and all the other lame, dated quotes ('om nom nom nom', 'fail', etc.) and B.) references to world peace and getting along. its a cat who has been acclimated to the presence of small domesticated rodents. its not a black hole discovered behing Jupiter, proof of extraterrestrial life, or Criss Angell taking his head off.
its a cat and a rat. - IpwnZnoobs, on 01/06/2009, -12/+44gay title but the video was funny
- sjbdallas, on 01/04/2009, -1/+25He seems pretty focused on sniffing the cat's ass.
- wondertwins, on 01/06/2009, -2/+22This is the TOTAL opposite on most of the episodes on Tom & Jerry.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -12/+28This is sooooooooooo wrong. It made me feel dirty watching it.
- garrettg84, on 01/06/2009, -5/+18the rat is simply infected....
'Mind Control by Parasites' i think this was on digg a while back...
http://www.livescience.com/technology/060210_techn ... - SeaMowse, on 01/05/2009, -4/+17That's just too sweet! I had a cat that wouldn't go near my parakeet. Well... he tried - once. But the parakeet bit him on the nose. After that... they 'tolerated' each other. Without much supervision. :P

My god, you should be a politician. - Darksider, on 01/06/2009, -0/+10A sewer dwelling carrier of disease......yep had one of those too
- gibbie99, on 01/06/2009, -0/+9People who are digging this down, you are missing the amazing part. The rat is dominant to the cat. See in the first part how the rat chases the cat all around? That's a sign of aggression. See in the second part how the rat tries to groom the cat? He's actually attempting to remove the cat's whiskers, which is what dominant rats do to subservient rats. To the rat, he's the alpha and the cat is subservient! I dont know how much this occurs in domestic relationships, but I had a ferret that acted the same way to our dogs, very dominant and aggressive.
- diggydougie, on 01/06/2009, -2/+11Another victim of Toxoplasma gondii.
T. gondii infections have the ability to change the behavior of rats and mice, making them drawn to rather than fearful of the scent of cats.

It's a good read. - inactive, on 01/06/2009, -2/+11"Yuck! This little kitten tastes like sewage."

All these ' Oww.. Its Soow Schweeet' commenters are ***** in the head. - BoneStamp, on 01/05/2009, -8/+15"Can I has mouzburger?"
- PatrickX, on 01/06/2009, -1/+8gay name but your comment was funny
- wonderbriefs, on 01/06/2009, -1/+8I'm pretty sure humans are responsible for this. Take out the humans feeding the cat, and you know what happens next.
- danr2c2, on 01/06/2009, -2/+9Catatouille?
- Rikkochet, on 01/06/2009, -0/+6... ?!?!?!
We all saw Fight Club and applaud you dredging up an old meme... But couldn't you save it until it's relevant? - inactive, on 01/06/2009, -3/+9Rats have a natural biological reaction to the smell of cats - and particularly of cat urine - and that reaction is fear. It is biologically encoded into their brains. For a rat to overcome this it must either be genetically engineered or have an infection by Toxoplasma gondii which critically alters the behaviour of rats so that they do not react with fear to the odour or presence of felines.
It's cute, adorable, funny, and I had a rat that I used to put on my cat's back as it walked around (the rat hated it and the cat was merely tolerating the event, if I wasn't there she would have eaten it) but this video most likely shows rats with a brain infection, not cute cuddly animal kingdom friends. - BigSabowski, on 01/06/2009, -4/+10You do know this is a sign of the apocalypse, right?
- MadCatter, on 01/06/2009, -0/+6You'd be surprised.. one of my rats used to live with a couple 'tough' cats, one of which is enormous and used to be a stray.. the things went over to attack the rat one day, and the rat ripped a couple chunks of fur out of their faces.. and now the cats are petrified of him. He doesn't like them so much either, but he put on a good show from the start.
- jerstud56, on 01/06/2009, -1/+7cuteness overload: head asplode!
- ayeroxor, on 01/06/2009, -0/+6To the ignorant burier(s): A rat is not the same thing as a mouse.
- id21, on 01/06/2009, -0/+6Because food can become your friend :D
- newdigger, on 01/06/2009, -0/+6Internet Fail.
- Coven, on 01/06/2009, -2/+8*Mouse* wonders? Those are huge ***** "mice"
- RioDJNarrow, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5would have been funnier if the cat attacked it right at the end of the video.
- Avaseal, on 01/06/2009, -5/+10I didn't watch my buddies die face-down in the mud so that these people...these pussies, could make comments like this about rodents on the internet!
- MadCatter, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5Have you ever owned or interacted with pet rats? They're incredibly social animals, and though many still hold onto their instincts of "cat smell is bad" if they are socialized to a number of animals - including cats, at a young age, they grow up without fearing them.
This may be different for wild, or even half wild rats and mice, who are VERY difficult to ever hand tame, and who are still very much attached to their wild instincts.
The chance of a domesticated rat having said parasite is much slimmer than a rat and a cat simply growing up together, or being socialized properly. Interesting read, yes, but it shouldn't be so difficult for people to understand that rats and cats can get along. Some people actually have terriers (who were bred to hunt rats) who are very protective of their rats. - Link459, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5I just had a cutegasm.
