- Spinducky08, on 07/12/2009, -2/+102I'd rather it be ladybugs than BEES or ANTS!
- tcheck, on 07/12/2009, -1/+99THAT. AIN'T. RED. BARK.
Thanks, didn't notice. - Dzue, on 07/11/2009, -8/+74That would bug me :p
- drall.kj, on 07/12/2009, -6/+67Back in early 2000's we had that problem here in Upstate NY (The Catskills). I had heard that the NYSDEC has released them to kill some other species.
It was absoulutely Gross. In the winter they moved indoors. I would be sitting at my computer and they would start buzz bombing me and the screens (due to the light). I would sit in bed reading before but the same thing. Hell even laying in bed they would land on you.
We would go thru and vacuum out the window sills and the next day they would be covered again. The nasty thing is the bug have a scent gland and they would release it in the vacuum and the vacuum would stink when you ran it.
***** Lady bugs. I hate them I KILL THEM EVERYTIME I SEE ONE - andrewlotta, on 07/12/2009, -4/+47i like when they land on my skin because i can gently blow it off my hand and make a wish :-)
- martage, on 07/12/2009, -0/+43I warned them... I warned you all... the ladybugs, man! THEY'RE ***** TAKING OVER!!!!!1
- ruarctb, on 07/12/2009, -0/+36If I had to pick a bug for my house to be covered by, I can think of worse than lady bugs.
- calvincooper66, on 07/11/2009, -6/+41Lady bugs rock.
- SigFemSeks, on 07/12/2009, -0/+28This is why ladybugs should stay in the kitchen.
- protodon, on 07/12/2009, -1/+28I bet that planty ladybug smell is everywhere.
- 123bucklemyshow, on 07/12/2009, -5/+28Red button. Bury it with.
- jasonhoblin, on 07/12/2009, -2/+20for those old enough to remember Sesame Street - The Ladybugs' Picnic:

The eggs are laid on plants infested with aphids or scale insects, on which the larvae feed until they pupate in the remains of the last larval skin. The adults gather in large numbers in the fall, prior to winter hibernation, and are often collected at that time by farmers for use in pest control.
They were likely released to control other infestations....when the food is gone, they will be too. - whatthefu, on 07/12/2009, -0/+16People on the East Coast and wherever else. Remember those 17-year cicadas? Those ***** little things sucked.
- QreepyBORIS, on 07/12/2009, -0/+15...But the perfect opportunity to gain a foothold in the shadowy underworld of ladybug trading and fighting.
- bigteebo, on 07/12/2009, -0/+14 I would rather see a huge colony of fireflys to see if they do weird psychadelic light shows together. Or if it would just look like a big 1960s computer.
- redfox2600, on 07/12/2009, -1/+14So what are you suggesting we do with the tree? Cut it down, send it to a bio-medical lab. Spend years studying the bark and chemical composition of the plant only to come to the realization that ...
While you were wasting all this time studying a piece of wood and reading digg you could have easily gone outside and talk to a lady.
Personally I prefer the former *start chain saw* - yacks, on 07/12/2009, -0/+13If you had a bunch on your arm like that, you might start wishing they'd go away.
- TheSexyBeast821, on 07/11/2009, -6/+18That tree holds the secret to attracting ladies! The cure for most Diggers has been found!
- liljay2k, on 07/12/2009, -5/+17Ladybugs are the sweetest/nicest bugs, I've never had to kill one.
- QreepyBORIS, on 07/12/2009, -1/+13I, for one, welcome our new...aw, forget it.
Imagine just chucking a rock at that big tree. M-m-m-monster kill! - Jennefah, on 07/12/2009, -0/+11The CNN video was being painfully slow...

I haven't seen a ladybug (we call them ladybirds) in years, perhaps they're not as common where I am (Scotland). - djdisconess, on 07/12/2009, -0/+10You have fun putting a collar on a ladybug.
- mHtt, on 07/12/2009, -0/+9re-clicking the video link on the right side on cnn's web page will kill the ad that plays.
- viper001, on 07/12/2009, -1/+10A few ladybugs at a time are nothing to worry about, but when they gather in those massive swarms they're disgusting. A few years ago in Toronto, the city was infested with them one spring, and they got into absolutely everything (swarming on windowsills, divebombing passersby constantly, getting inside speedometers/gumball machines).
- Zreitan, on 07/12/2009, -2/+10ive never been bitten by one, the address is secret cause the hippies dont want people up there
- NoamChimpsky, on 07/12/2009, -0/+8That was extremely irritating. I really have nothing better to do than to gather up the whole family, tie our few worldly possessions to the roof of a truck, and drive out to their mountain to stare in slack jawed stupidity at their ladybugs.
- akchrs, on 07/12/2009, -4/+12This would be an excellent opportunity to tag and radio collar them and study their migratory patterns.
- PhillyMJS, on 07/12/2009, -1/+9I'm sure glad that CNN is getting back to the hard-hitting news, after their endless Michael Jackson coverage.
- aquadude, on 07/12/2009, -0/+8"Maybe they're doing some hard work."
- Layne, on 07/12/2009, -0/+6The constant narrator to interviewee switches and interruptions were annoying as hell.
- BrownieMix, on 07/12/2009, -1/+6I like the male lady bug in A Bug's Life
- snapcase, on 07/12/2009, -0/+5Sounds like you got the Asian Ladybugs. They're the ones that leave the stink and yellow stains.
- carterx, on 07/12/2009, -0/+5Damn, that's a lot of Lady Bugs !!!!!
- midbc, on 07/12/2009, -0/+5you bastard now i have that song stuck in my head
- Philbert, on 07/12/2009, -0/+5What commercial?
- centran, on 07/12/2009, -4/+9They stink so bad if you get 10+ of them in a small area.
- Branchex, on 07/12/2009, -0/+5Aren't ladybugs worth money? If so there is a fortune to be made.
- keysmachine, on 07/12/2009, -0/+5i didn't feel like sitting through a 45 second commercial just to see some poor sods house covered in lady bugs..
- PsychoPNut, on 07/12/2009, -1/+5people are digging you down cause they think you're being silly. but they really do bite and it does hurt.
- Xaevier, on 07/12/2009, -0/+4Must be a Cacao (chocolate) tree
- silverchrysalis, on 07/12/2009, -0/+4we had that in michigan in 2004- awful stuff, especially that smell! they divebombed our food, drinks, laundry, everything. they left tiny little flecks of ***** on the windows, crunched under our windowsills and feet when they died, ugh.
i still shudder when i see one. - snapcase, on 07/12/2009, -0/+4Depends on the variety of ladybug.
- thevoiceless, on 07/12/2009, -1/+5You miss junebugs? Really?
- LoudMusic, on 07/12/2009, -0/+4Or rattlesnakes.
- wolfboyZ, on 07/12/2009, -1/+5I wonder how much of it has to do with the name. What if they were called tiny red cockroach bugs? Cockbugs.
- thesha1, on 07/12/2009, -0/+4the ones that bite (and hurt like a bitch) are not the same as regular ladybugs. the ones that bite aren't as red, but more faded red, and i BELIEVE they're asian beetles..
- charlietuna, on 07/12/2009, -0/+4Two types apparently, and the Asian ones are not as innocuous.

http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef416.as ... - ayeroxor, on 07/12/2009, -0/+3I like turtles.
- directedition, on 07/12/2009, -0/+3Reminds me of winters in West Virginia. Our house would be invaded by lady bugs by the millions. I'd have to pull the cover off my computer and shake their carcasses into the trash can. Sometimes I'd have to dismantle the power supply as their dead bodies restricted air flow. In the food, in the laundry, crawling up your legs in the night. Our town had exterminators that specialized in lady bugs.
And I remember growing up in New Jersey thinking lady bugs were good luck.
***** lady bugs. They taste like *****. -
