- prunch, on 09/30/2008, -3/+723There is tough and there is shark punching tough
- killscreenes, on 09/30/2008, -9/+341This reminds me of the time that I jumped into a pit of lava and fought a giant turtle with spikes coming out of its back to save a princess...
Oh wait. That's just Mario. - DeskFlyer, on 10/01/2008, -5/+332The real story here is how he managed to dodge the shark's laser beam the whole time.
- AmyVernon, on 09/30/2008, -3/+249And he didn't just punch the shark, he punched it IN THE FACE. Now that's puppy love.

I'M A SHARK
OW MY FACE
I'M A SHARK - GoKings, on 10/01/2008, -4/+186PETA would have preferred the man saving the dog, then getting eaten by the shark. PETA doesn't care about other people.
- AdeleMor, on 10/01/2008, -4/+179Question: So would PETA love the man for saving his puppy dog or malign the man for punching a shark?
- audomatix, on 10/01/2008, -3/+128If you don't get pussy with that story... well then damn.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -6/+99wittle? WITTLE? you don't ever replace "little" with "wittle" in any story related to punching a shark in the face. Ever.
- squidcore, on 10/01/2008, -2/+91i'd jump in to if a shark attacked my dog. sharks need to learn:
don't ***** with my dog - TheMoniker, on 10/01/2008, -0/+77Approximate period of time between reading, "man punches shark to save dog" and digging the article? 0.5 seconds.
- Citizen192, on 09/30/2008, -2/+77I love you puppy.
- john2kx, on 10/01/2008, -0/+64If you don't have a dog, you'll probably question the guy's sanity..
If you have one, you'll understand perfectly. :D - carnitas, on 09/30/2008, -1/+64That is pretty crazy. Gotta love that little dog cast.
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -3/+65I'd do the same thing for my pooch.
- Wakkyweed, on 10/01/2008, -1/+61I can't believe that jerk punched my pet shark in the face!
The nerve of some people... - kelstock, on 10/01/2008, -2/+60If you don't get *bitches* with that story...
- joshf52, on 10/01/2008, -0/+57Not immediately... You're alive long enough to leap into the air with a surprised look on your face before plummeting into and drowning in a pool of lava.
- bjenidles, on 09/30/2008, -1/+57Or shark hate. Or a little of both.
- mxmj, on 10/01/2008, -1/+55What a great headline.
- Chomprel, on 10/01/2008, -3/+57That guy jumped the shark.
- eliotmat, on 10/01/2008, -6/+59Dear commenter,
You have submitted the best comment on the best digg story of the day.
Love,
The Internet. - hoisonsauce, on 10/01/2008, -1/+48If you ever encounter this man at a party, make sure you don't tell any stories after him. It's hard to follow up "I punched a shark in the face to save my dog."
- SRSco, on 10/01/2008, -2/+47I don't care what PETA does, as long as they keep putting hot naked protesting women out on the street.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -2/+43I bet he uses this story to pick up women. ...Yeah, I punched it in the face ..
- toonworld, on 10/01/2008, -6/+45DOG: Do not try to eat me or you will feel my master's fury
SHARK: lulz *chomp!!*
MASTER: *Hiruken!!*
SHARK: my nose!! my nose!! Why is it always the nose!? - jun2san, on 10/01/2008, -1/+40If he's doing it wrong, I don't want to be right.
- KtownReject0358, on 10/01/2008, -1/+38Now that's a headline you don't see often.
- survivordean, on 10/01/2008, -1/+35”I clenched my fists and dove straight in with all my strength, like a battering ram,” LeNoir, 53, said Sunday, reliving the frightening ordeal. “I hit the back of the shark’s neck. It was like hitting concrete.”
Inspiring news on unconditional love here. A dog is really worth saving especially in times of crisis or whatsoever.
Love this news and I am putting this on my digg's favorite list. - Frozo, on 10/01/2008, -0/+32To all you people saying he is insane.. would you really just sit there and watch a shark eat your dog?? I highly doubt it. I think people dont give themselves enough credit for doing what needs to be done when put to the test. Its not like it was a 20 ft great white, btw.
- jun2san, on 10/01/2008, -1/+29Answer: Yes.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -1/+28Your dog would probably do it for you.
- jupit, on 09/30/2008, -14/+40Youza! Wow this guy is insane!
- akschnare, on 10/01/2008, -1/+27”The shark put almost all of Jake in his mouth, except for his head and three of his legs."
If you think of how a dog is shaped, that means, that the shark really only got one leg and a bit of his side. - Hughsie, on 10/01/2008, -1/+27I see what you did there
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -4/+29And they called it... Puppy Love...
- lukegravitt, on 10/01/2008, -1/+24pew pew
- BradOFarrell, on 10/01/2008, -0/+22What a ***** badass.
- Cloud7659, on 10/01/2008, -4/+25Hulk SMASH!!!
- olddirtycr, on 10/01/2008, -0/+21PETA would have stated that this is a prime reason that you shouldnt have pets (when in the wild does a dog get attacked by a shark?).
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+21No. He's ***** awesome! And then possibly insane.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+21You actually failed at comprehending humor, good job.
- benologist, on 10/01/2008, -1/+22Dogs are the most faithful thing you will ever have in your life *and* they require almost nothing in exchange for their love and companionship. Your wives'll leave you and your kids hate you.... and your dog will still think the sun shines out of your ass as long as you feed and pat him.
- orlyfactor, on 10/01/2008, -0/+19People who have even a modicum of intelligence. Who uses the word "modicum"? Me.
- zip000, on 10/01/2008, -3/+22I love my dog. I would totally jump in to save him.
To be honest, it is hard to know what you would do in a situation like that. I'm willing to bet though that my response would depend primarily on how large the shark was....big enough to kill my dog but probably just injure me? Jump in. Big enough to possibly kill me? not sure...I'd like to think that I would, but I'll admit to not being sure.
...just actually went and read the story....5 foot shark...hard to say. - sinrtb, on 10/01/2008, -1/+20Some how I don't think it is possible to drown in lava.
- Sabin, on 10/01/2008, -0/+18I've heard of this happening a few times. You punch a shark in the nose and they usually back off.
Here's more
http://www.underwatertimes.com/news.php?article_id ... - TheRealM3D, on 10/01/2008, -0/+18I'm pretty sure badass men are allowed to cry at appropriate times. Crying for you own pain and crying for the love of someone else are totally different things. Almost crying when he describes his poor dog being attacked by the shark doesn't make him any less of a badass, only more human.
- theOster, on 10/01/2008, -0/+18hitting sharks in the snout is actually an excellent way to keep them away from you. they're very sensitive and it shows that you mean business.
me? i'd pull the headbutt out of nothing, Bas Rutten style
