- FOR3MAN, on 04/06/2009, -0/+209I hate it when things fall off the family yacht.
- ScottMcIntyre, on 04/06/2009, -11/+130Paws has no fear of Jaws!
- justok, on 04/06/2009, -2/+109The owners said they wished the dog could talk about its experiences. Well, I managed to get an interview with the dog:
ME: How was life on the island?
DOG: Ruff!
ME: What did you miss about having a home for shelter?
DOG: Roof!
ME: What did you eat when you couldn't find baby goats?
DOG: Bark! - ghaltmann, on 04/06/2009, -12/+111A cat wouldn't do that.
Dogs are awesome. - alconebay, on 04/06/2009, -20/+102A cat wouldn't fall off in the first place.
- yvesoft, on 04/06/2009, -0/+79Follow up: Sharks found dead around the island.
- rockon4life45, on 04/06/2009, -1/+79Let's get one thing straight
The ENTIRE ocean within 100 miles of the shore is 'shark-infested' - Anand999, on 04/06/2009, -1/+77A cat would throw the rest of the family off the yacht to save itself.
- NeoNcP, on 04/06/2009, -0/+72yea because it'd be asleep downstairs
- freshgrease, on 04/06/2009, -0/+54'So for this dog to swim for five miles or so, and then swim a bit between islands, is incredible. She's a very lucky animal.'
No. Don't confuse luck with skill. She is clearly the Chuck Norris (or at least Stephen Segal) of dogs. She probably ate a shark too just because she could. - RumpleForeskin3, on 04/06/2009, -1/+54Don't forget Sassy and Shadow!!
- woofers07, on 04/06/2009, -1/+53Not as bad as falling off the family leer jet .
- rwbrinso, on 04/06/2009, -3/+53I smell a movie! Starring Lindsay Lohan ... or perhaps that's just Linds I smell.
- HotBaconSauce, on 04/06/2009, -0/+44"Dog falls 2 miles through raincloud infested skies to get home"

"Sophie Tucker, named after the American vaudeville comedian, fell overboard from the family's yacht when they ran into bad weather off the Queensland coastal town of Mackay.
Miss Griffith and her friends searched the area, putting their own lives at risk in the rough seas, but there was no sign of Sophie Tucker." - rheemglas, on 04/06/2009, -5/+37***** Goats
- ASSASSYN360, on 04/06/2009, -1/+32Lassie ain't got ***** on this dog!
- Ozzsanity, on 04/06/2009, -1/+31I had a cat that jumped out of the bed of a truck on highway 17 in Santa Cruz (15 miles from home) and it showed up back home a few weeks later.
- inactive, on 04/06/2009, -3/+32No thanks
- krellor, on 04/06/2009, -12/+41So, how did the dog fall off, and why didn't they rescue it? Did I miss a part of the article? Was there a storm? Something? If it was my dog I'd be in after it in no time. Seriously, owner doesn't deserve this dogs loyalty.
- wutimatang, on 04/06/2009, -1/+28So you're the guy that writes Popsicle stick jokes!
- SleepingLion, on 04/06/2009, -3/+27What a phenomenal story.
And they already made a movie. It's called Homeward Bound. - biffta, on 04/06/2009, -15/+39Dogs > Cats

- recruz, on 04/06/2009, -0/+17wow ... i thought i was the only one that watched that movie ... haha- oh michael j. fox, your scratchy voice was so heartwarming
- memper, on 04/06/2009, -0/+17From the comments, "a great idea for a disney movie"...
...cept the whole raw ravenous goat flesh binges. Obviously this is one badass dog. This dog was surely sired by Chuck Norris. - WhoDoneIt, on 04/06/2009, -0/+17What's your point? It's not like the shark is going to jump on the sailboat and eat people.
- Falldog, on 04/06/2009, -6/+23I don't see why a dog would be afraid of a movie.
- chri5t, on 04/06/2009, -0/+16Absolutely amazing...
I read this and looked at my dog... and realized my dog would never be able to do that. - burketo, on 04/06/2009, -1/+17They named their dog sophie tucker? what the hell ever happened to normal dog names?
I've had three dogs in my life: Hooch, Rusty and Rebel. Those are normal dog names.
They don't even have to be generic, but Sophie Tucker? all the sharks were probably laughing too hard to bite her. - inactive, on 04/06/2009, -0/+15Rin Tin Tin has no need for fins!
- Foskey, on 04/06/2009, -0/+14It just goes to show you how intelligent some animals really are! What a great story!
- ctabone, on 04/06/2009, -0/+14Zzzzz
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_bN9se-ul_aE/SAPMk6YPd6I/ ... - flamesoftheend, on 04/06/2009, -0/+13When Jan Griffith throws her dog into shark infested water, it swims back for vengence.
- hmiles619, on 04/06/2009, -2/+14Did you read the article?
- CoD4, on 04/06/2009, -3/+15Barq's has bite!
- PhattyPhattMatt, on 04/06/2009, -0/+12That was a great story!!
- nmezib, on 04/06/2009, -0/+12Unless they edited the article after you posted, here's what happened:
"Sophie Tucker, named after the American vaudeville comedian, fell overboard from the family's yacht when they ran into bad weather off the Queensland coastal town of Mackay.
"Miss Griffith and her friends searched the area, putting their own lives at risk in the rough seas, but there was no sign of Sophie Tucker."
Of course, the headline also said the dog survived on the "Desert" island... although the climate was hardly desert (tropical) and it certainly wasn't deserted (people were living there, the dog killed and ate their goats and they had to notify the authorities). Whatever. Take the Daily Fail's story with a grain of salt, but it seems to be a great dog nonetheless. - graemee, on 04/06/2009, -0/+12You dozed off and didn't realize it.
- JacD, on 04/06/2009, -0/+11Yachts can be pretty big. It's possible that they didn't even notice the dog was gone for some time after the fact.
- beclee, on 04/06/2009, -0/+11it made me cry everytime
- smurfjoe, on 04/06/2009, -2/+13Oh, dogs. Yeah, I like dags.

- inactive, on 04/06/2009, -0/+10Looks a lot like my late friend Dog Meat.
He was a good comrade and the smartest dog I've ever known. - inactive, on 04/06/2009, -1/+11It was Sophie's choice
- vstro24, on 04/06/2009, -2/+12so corny but yet funny.
- ZimbuTheMonkey, on 04/06/2009, -1/+11Sophie struck a deal with the Others. What a bitch.
