Right, because it's always best to eliminate the findings of experts. - amy678, on 11/20/2008, -10/+38This comes as no surprise. I knew he would try to push through some dirty dealings in his last days. This is why we need to get Jim Martin into the Senate on Dec. 2. The winner of the Georgia runoff will either help overturn Bush's dirty deeds or, if Saxby wins, block every effort to get our country back on track.
If you live in Georgia, get out and vote for Jim Martin in the runoff on Dec. 2. Every vote counts. Especially now. If you're outside of Georgia, you can still help by making some phone calls to Georgians. Sign up at martinforsenate dot com.
We need people in our government that will do what's best for the citizens of our country --humans and animals alike. - kroses, on 11/21/2008, -11/+27He has no conscience and no brains, and he doesn't care in the least! History will show that he was the WORST PRESIDENT EVER!
- TheFoshizzler, on 11/21/2008, -6/+20*****' up till his last day. At least the guy's consistent.
- purrsuede, on 11/21/2008, -9/+23Another last-minute attempt by W and his Wyoming henchman Cheney to screw over Mother Nature one last time before they fade into the useless dust of their failed administration.
They have consistently looted and plundered the environment, they have repeatedly raped the natural world with their programs and policies. It will take years to undo the damage done by these bastards.

- hatgreeting, on 11/21/2008, -13/+22This headline could have been written:
Bush to cull overzealous environmental laws that hinder the development of infrastructure. - awtripp, on 11/21/2008, -1/+9It's cool bro, you can say ***** here.
- markgl, on 11/21/2008, -4/+11Didn't penn and teller do an episode on protecting endangered species and how it w as all bull____. fill in the rest.
- frieddonuts, on 11/21/2008, -5/+11So having a expert's input in endangered species cases is overzealous? Seems like he's being overzealous in streamlining the ability to remove a species' endangered status. Think of it- a lobbyist could convince officials to remove that status, and no expert could rule on that claim and prove it to be wrong.
- croakingtoad, on 11/21/2008, -6/+12I just watched a show with Jeff Corwin last night about the global crisis of disappearing frogs and other amphibians. 33% of the world's species of frog are now considered endangered. That's scary people. Frogs are an indicator species of environmental problems, just like canaries were when carried into mines in the past.
- hasslinthehoff, on 11/21/2008, -1/+7Just two more months... two more months... can't come fast enough.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -6/+12Good, because the endangered species regulations in this country are pointless and ridiculous. They don't even help the animals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PufNFWo9mm0&feature ...
- politicalmuch, on 11/21/2008, -6/+12A final FU to America courtesy of the corrupt Bush administration.
- nutzngum, on 11/21/2008, -0/+5I'm Canadian, plus i don't really have the brain power to comprehend US politics, but even *I* am pretty sure it's not really Bush who's doing all this. He may sign off on it, but i figure it's more like some guy with Flash cards goes into the Oval Office, gives him a really really simplified explanation of what they want to do, he shrugs, signs something and it's done.
- SpinningHead, on 11/21/2008, -1/+6By that Rovian logic, war is also a vehicle for natural selection and should be encouraged.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+5I'm sure his mommy gives him a nice allowance, but I'm not sure if that's taxable.
- SpinningHead, on 11/21/2008, -1/+5Yeah, the brilliant red state philosophy that has given you above average poverty and below average education. Those southern red states, which I am from, also take in much more in federal tax dollars than the blue states, many of which get less money back because they're paying for the red states to be on the dole.
- ZeroCubed, on 11/21/2008, -1/+5It's been the thorn on his side ever since he was governor of Texas, especially when it came to the aquifers. For those that don't know, aquifers are underground reservoirs of water - basically the porous limestone rock beneath our feet is filled with water, and these stretch for from just a couple dozen miles to hundreds. The aquifers means that development is very restricted in recharge zones (places where the aquifers regain their water) in order to prevent our aquifers from becoming polluted. Not only that, but there is a species of blind salamander that lives ONLY in the Edwards Aquifer (which is below Austin) as well as other rare and endangered species of fish and arthropods scattered throughout all the other Texas aquifers.
He was all for pro-conservation laws (like reducing pollutants in the Gulf and cleaner air) so long as it didn't impede on developments! - GRANDPAMUNSTER, on 06/11/2009, -1/+5So the federal agency in charge of building is going to have power over federal wildlife officials. I guess money talks common sense walks.
- Eyebee, on 11/21/2008, -2/+6The sooner this useless cretin fades into oblivion the better.
- SpinningHead, on 11/21/2008, -4/+8yup. them thar stoopid facts aynd logic always git in the way, we needs ta keep them experts out the discussion.
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -6/+10You get a max 5 years for threatening the president.
Reported. - bhuntsbarger, on 11/21/2008, -1/+5Blue collared workers are the next to go if we don't save them.
- bicyclethief, on 11/21/2008, -1/+5Is that why the Bush administration is trying to institute rules to "eliminate the input of federal wildlife scientists in some endangered species cases?" To get the facts?
- MadKennyP, on 11/21/2008, -3/+7But the rate of extinction has grown enormously and much of it is now due to activities of mankind.
- dumline, on 11/21/2008, -4/+8If it was about Obama it probably would have been.
- professor357, on 11/21/2008, -10/+14The Fish and Wildlife Dept, The Forest Service, and the Federal Land Managers are agencies full of people working in those positions mainly so they can push their agenda... No development anywhere, anytime. No utilization of natural resources ever. They use the Endangered Species Act and the Environment Protection laws to stifle EVERY attempt at land use that goes beyond backpacking into the woods on your own two feet. If you want proof, just try to find ONE application for logging on public lands that has NOT been challenged in court. The logging industry in this country was destroyed by these envirowackos.
These are the same type of people who fought to list the polar bear as "endangered" due to global warming, despite clear scientific evidence that the polar bear populations are thriving throughout the Arctic, to the point that THEY are threatening US HUMANS. Of course, the envirowackos believe that we don't belong any place that wildlife territorial expansion and human communities conflict. Personally, I don't want to encounter timberwolves or grizzly bears when I go for a walk in Pennsylvania woods, but they want to reintroduce predator species back into every habitat that they previously lived.
This restriction on the anti-development, obstructionist activities of these environmental extremists was long overdue. - randumbusername, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3relax regulations??? i thought we didn't have any.
- PuterPrsn, on 11/21/2008, -1/+4Sorry - only congress has that privilege - and they've put us so far in debt to bail out failed businesses that we'll not see daylight for decades, if ever.
- johnsna2, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3try they were headed for extinction because of us
- bicyclethief, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3Gandhi
- enri, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3So the government shouldn't represent The People? Every one I know wants clean water, clean air and clean energy. Those are all "resources".
- okyourturn, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3http://www.heumoore.com/uploaded_images/evilcat7-7 ...
- plarp, on 11/21/2008, -1/+4less regulation means more animals.. but then we'll have an animal bubble.. and for some reason this will make the entire population of greenland disapear
- AndrewMoyer, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3"WORST. PRESIDENT. EVER."
Where's Comic Book Guy when you need him...? - bderusha, on 11/21/2008, -0/+3It's spelled "*****", with an I, since we're all about correcting. And I think your name, FartCloud, is a fairly good indicator that you don't make any taxable income. Once you hit the real world, while you may still value farts as an endless source of humor, you no longer have any desire to associate yourself with them. Either that or you have such low self esteem that you actually think your life and the meaningfulness of your existence is on par with a fart cloud. Enjoy crying yourself to sleep in the fetal position while your (alleged) tax dollars are frivolously spent saving the planet.
- AndrewMoyer, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2Waiting to see a banner behind him saying, "Extinction Accomplished"
At least that one will be accurate. - omegared, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2funny, your one of those people like Glen Beck who are scared that polar bears will kill them.
"HEY are threatening US HUMANS"
You probably have a better chance of being killed by a human, but you live in fear of polar bears.
What is a envirowackos someone that has studied the science and understands something about a balanced ecosystem? - uncleosbert, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2i think you mean "milk vetch" not milkweed.

" About 3 million people visit the dunes every year. Holiday weekends draw as many as 240,000 off-roaders and campers to what has become an increasingly popular and sometimes dangerous spot.
Three people were killed and hundreds were injured, including a park ranger who was run over, during Thanksgiving weekend in 2001."

i would say off road enthusiasts have bigger problems these days than just the epa...
"The dunes area is one of the few places on the American Southwest frontier where a major highway runs up against open border. Interstate 8 is generally less than three miles away and only 500 yards off in some spots, giving smugglers easy access to a major transportation corridor."

- bicyclethief, on 11/21/2008, -5/+7I know! Who wants wilderness and wildlife when they could have a strip mall?
- jstreveln, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2OK lets get it right.lets charge the soon to be ex president george walker bush with treason, war crimes, and crimes against humanity and if found guilty give him the maximum penalty allowed for said charges.in most states you can choose how you want to be executed, hanging, old sparky, injection and my personal favorite for traitors firing squad(since it was soldiers who paid the greater price for his crimes it would seem fitting that they get to pull the trigger)but witch ever he should choose. I'll bring the popcorn!
- AndrewMoyer, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2mrfoos2 then continued by saying, "Yeah!!! 'merica! Wooo! They took our jerbs!"
