- dafragsta, on 07/03/2009, -0/+21What's wrong with eating roadkill deer? It's not like it actually even gets ran over most of the time. For the damage those things do to vehicles, I can totally understand someone mounting the head, waiting with glee for the moment when someone asks which gun he was taken down with, so he can answer "A Honda Civic."
It does say he stole another man's roadkill though. That's a hanging offense. - Jeepinator, on 07/03/2009, -0/+14Death by car or bullet. It doesn't really matter.
- jbizzy, on 07/02/2009, -4/+17So gross. My antisocial brother once hit a deer in and ate it, though, so I shouldn't be so shocked. He said he was broke and hungry.
- socivitus, on 07/02/2009, -0/+10Then I'm your brother...
- Munk3y, on 07/03/2009, -4/+14Ahhh, feels so good to live in a "free country". I can't wait for the day I need a permit to get permits.
- EddiePotato, on 07/03/2009, -0/+9You're not authorized to type that.
- MacBandit, on 07/03/2009, -0/+9Somehow this Deer head needs to end up in bed with the Governor Godfather style.
- sparkplug890, on 07/03/2009, -1/+10Oh deer.
- deathsquadx, on 07/03/2009, -0/+8Ok, so I live in Wisconsin...
Hitting a deer with a car and eating it is no different than shooting it with a rifle or shotgun and eating it.
That being said, I don't hunt or eat venison. - radu79, on 07/03/2009, -0/+8WTF is gross about that?
- oncomouse, on 07/03/2009, -1/+8I grew up in central Wisconsin and now live in Milwaukee. There are plenty of sane people in here and in Madison. But the only stuff that makes the national news is crazy hick *****. This state has so much more to offer. We're the home of D&D, the electric guitar, numerous great beers, world class universities, and Harley Davidson. Willem Dafoe, Harry Houdini, and Orson Welles are all from Wisconsin. But all you ever hear about is Packers, serial killers, and northwoods loonies.
- tkcom, on 07/03/2009, -1/+8Damn Wisconsin, you cheesy.
- adrastos9, on 07/03/2009, -0/+5I'd say screw you and slop a replacement, bloody deer scalp of those *****' desks. What a waste of time a resources.
- MistrBrownstone, on 07/03/2009, -1/+6Actually, it is a Republic.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -2/+6That's ***** retarded.
- EddiePotato, on 07/03/2009, -0/+4No more gross than eating a fat, domesticated bovine killed with an air gun to the head. And those are delicious.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -0/+4wouldnt expect anything less from the DNR. From chasing away Menards to fining people for cleaning up sharp rocks on their waterfront... on a man made lake.
- Ymeg, on 07/03/2009, -3/+7we don't live in a democracy.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -0/+3Wisconsin DNR strikes again.
- 123bucklemyshow, on 07/03/2009, -0/+3This reminds me of something a person in my platoon did back in Vietnam.
- radu79, on 07/03/2009, -0/+3I think the cost for all this ***** (take the guy to court, mail the "omfg, give us the head" letters, etc.) cost far more than the deer head.
***** the tax payers. - Taiyoryu, on 07/03/2009, -0/+3Comment FTA: The Wisconsin DNR tests nearly every whitetail deer roadkill carcass for the presence of CWD (Chronic Wasting Disease), a fatal nervous system disorder. There are regulations in effect restricting the transport of deer carcasses without the appropirate permit to prevent the spread of this disease. These regulations specifically apply to transporting parts of the deer such as the head, brains, and spinal column, as those are the parts required for obtaining test samples from.
If in fact the DNR would like to test the head, then they should say so. Offer to take the head to get the samples, then return the "trophy" back. I have my doubts that there's anything left worth testing at this point, though. - EddiePotato, on 07/03/2009, -0/+3D'oe!
- sutherbj, on 07/03/2009, -1/+4We like beer, so what.
- pirategonzo, on 07/03/2009, -1/+4Dear Madison,
***** you.
Yours truly,
Milwaukee
P.S.
Ha Ha You changed your location from Middleton to Madison... Phony.
"Henry Borchers changed his location, updated his birthday, edited his bio and chose a new icon in his profile 6 min ago" - lundeja, on 07/03/2009, -2/+4You're from Middleton, silly.
- TheGuruStud, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2And now it's a police state. Hooray!
- FunFactor100, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2I don't see the issue...if he paid the fine then the deer's his unless the person who killed the animal claims it. I can't see how the gvt has a claim to the animal unless there was some kind of hunting license (tag) that was unpaid.
- selrahc, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2You need tags to shoot them and eat them too. It's pretty ridiculous but they want to keep track of every deer that is killed for some reason. I wonder how they found out he had the deer head though.
- cwgannon, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2I've lived in both but am from neither. Not sure toward whom I should direct my hate. Why are you so bitter?
- Zarokima, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2No it isn't. A republic is a form of goverment. It may share some similarities with a democracy, but they're not the same.
- MistrBrownstone, on 07/03/2009, -2/+4WHEN YOU SAY WISCONSIN, YOU'VE SAID IT ALL!
- EddiePotato, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2I'll trust you. But you better not be lying.
- EddiePotato, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2It will be interesting to see how this applies to zombies once the outbreak begins.
- Taiyoryu, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2The nastiest roadkill deer I saw was where it was sheered in half. The halves were 50 feet apart. Suffice it to say, it caused quite the backup.
- graemee, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1Up until this week, in Newfoundland they use to donate roadkill moose to charity. The charity's would then have it butchered and make moose burger (Really good BTW). They would then sell these at charity events.
So if you've ever been to Newfoundland and had a moose burger chances are good it was roadkill. - beloitpiper, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1I usually hate Minnesota's "What's Wrong With Wisconsin?" columns (don't they have any of their own news?), but this is pretty awesome. Man I love my state.
- tavisjohn, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1OK first off if I hit a deer, I would not leave the body behind. My car would either be totaled, or would cost a fortune to fix. Wither way the deer body is coming with me as it's way of paying me back for damaging my car. I would not only take the deer, I would EAT IT!
And if the state wanted the head I had mounted, FINE! They could have what was left of the ORIGINAL deer, but nothing else. I would rip the hide off of the mounting and give them that! I paid for the mounting, so unless the state wanted to pay me back for that, they would only get what was left of the original deer. - rdoger6424, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1Speaking of which, I'm up for some venison stew right now.
- NTNDOChamp, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1Wisconsin: We aren't alcoholics, we're professionals. Or so says Lewis Black.
Apparently, we're also nuts. - positron, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1source?
- doublefelix, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1At least you know it wasn't laying on some e-coli infested floor at the Hormel plant all day.
- foremosthunting, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1It's like two great tastes that taste great togeather. Yummm!
- randumbusername, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1leave wisconsin alone.
- Lunchbox37, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1Those a perfectly normal head gear items. And make for good drunk helmets.
- Norse77, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1Must be Sun Prairie.
- Zarokima, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1You think of roadkill as those squished little things likes raccoons or dogs. When you hit a deer in a non-bulky vehicle (and sometimes even with one), often the vehicle sustains more physical damage than the deer, which is usually still in fine eating condition. You don't get a flattened mess, you get whole carcass with a couple lacerations and some broken bones.
- iamdan1, on 07/03/2009, -1/+1They should just quit while they're aHead...
