- johnnyloser, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25The team who rescued her did a great job. I am proud that she still lives by the military code of honor by telling the truth. It is a shame that some higher ranking individuals have lost touch with the words like honesty and integrity. The army wanted to make her a hero. Its terrible they don't realize that they already have so many.
- L3on, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Did some research. She was "rescued" only after the American military had learned that the Iraqis had fled: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/correspondent/3028585.stm also, this occured in Nasiriyah which was a big battle at the beginning of the war.
- ralphmalph914, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14This was all just puffery by the US Army. There was no real danger and the Army knew it. The video was just a PR stunt for the military.
- catfish182, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12read for once before ***** comes flying out of your mouth.
Ignorance can be forgiven after education but your type of stupidity is just inbred in. - TheVetos, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15America, ***** yeah.
Comin again to save the ***** day, yeah - glucoseboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9
The rescue of a pow is a big deal and should be treated as such ... the Iraqis did not hand her over .. they fled.
Not exactly true. Check Time magazine around the time of the rescue. The Iraqi hospital staff contacted US forces and told them where she was. - catfish182, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Its really nice that she was able to brought back and that she is now speaking up for what the media and the goverment said.
I have respect for her now as she is saying she isnt a hero.
the whole story made no sense what so ever and i knew Bush was full of it.
this along with all the other crap that this administration does should make congress call for impeachment on the president. - cptpike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Where's the proof that they shot the medical staff?
- jdent08, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7awesome video
- LecherousVenom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The point here is not whether or not soldiers are heroic - the point is, the administration LIED to the American people about the mission. If they'd just shown this video the first time through, there'd have been nothing but praise and adulation. *****, at that point, Rumsfeld could have ***** a bald eagle at the podium and he'd still have major cred.
But no, they lied. So, ***** 'em.
PS - to the troops actually sent to that ***** ***** Iraq, you have my most sincere apologies. Apparently, the reasons you were sent were complete *****, and that's on us (the citizens.) - tonage, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Indryd,
Your stereotypes are much more ignorant than the people you are trying to degrade. - snockhockster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They were firing blanks.
"We were surprised. Why do this? There was no military, there were no soldiers in the hospital," said Dr Anmar Uday, who worked at the hospital. "It was like a Hollywood film. They cried 'go, go, go', with guns and blanks without bullets, blanks and the sound of explosions. They made a show for the American attack on the hospital - action movies like Sylvester Stallone or Jackie Chan."
Link to full article in L30N's comment. - duggudown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Smile for the camera jessica!
- L3on, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Umm, why is she in a hospital bed? I also noticed at the bottom of the video is a Latitude and Longitude, converted into degrees it is: +31° 3' 47.00", +46° 15' 13.00" which apparently is smack in the middle of some city in southern iraq.
- LecherousVenom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm a slimy little turd, short and stout!
- LecherousVenom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Geneva Convention only applies to states/countries. We're not fighting a country. We're fighting the FORMER military forces. No matter how you cut it, we're (America) the invaders. They have homefield advantage.
- dreamflows, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The truth about Jessica | Iraq | Guardian Unlimited
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,956255,00.html - hammerattack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There's like 8 hours of video missing. Obviously nobody wants to give intimate details of how a mission packet is assembled, how pre-mission briefs are conducted and what not, but whoever implies that this video is unedited raw footage is... point blank... lying.
- BlackCow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3*comment was kinda lame so I revoked it*
- hater2win, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7***** YEAH!
- Travisx2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just me or is there about 8 minutes of missing video?
- EriktheBard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4We know now and suspected then that the insurgents had fled and that there was little risk. But that is the advantage of hindsight. You don't just let your guard down and casually waltz into a situation because it's 'likely' there are no enemies. You do it the way you were trained . Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. I wouldn't call this theater or overblown.
- snockhockster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"It should only be taken as a miracle that the lack of armed resistance reduced the danger to bystanders."
What about the soldiers firing blanks? That had to help wouldn't you think? - hammerattack, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33:25 seconds into the video tape there is a sand table. You don't get much better confirmation than that of the fact that Iraqi Forces were using that hospital as a military command post. This is counter to Geneva Convention protocol, and entirely consistent with everything the US has said about this mission. The fact that Iraqi elements ran like hell when they heard that US troops were coming doesn't make this any less of a rescue. It should only be taken as a miracle that the lack of armed resistance reduced the danger to bystanders. (Though... someone did let loose with a 240 bravo at one point.)
- cptpike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There's nothing like being crfushed!
- ascolti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Couldn't be Team America. They didn't blow up the friendly hospital and staff during the rescue. :-)
- chembro84, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Go ***** yourself, you'd have ***** and pissed yourself so many times it'd be embarrassing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1awesome yes.. but Raw no.. its sorenson compressed
- beefsupreme, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"...You got that flag still?"
Priceless... America will die crfushed under the weight of it's patriotism - pu-z, on 10/12/2007, -8/+7Yeah. I have actually experienced more danger than that during my drafted tour and I was in an office doing IT. They probably scared the ***** out of Jessica coming in like that, no wonder she was terrified and jumpy. Kudos to her for being an upstanding soldier, she is braver than all the others combined.
- fordhamwt, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5She is still a Hero. Even though she didn't come out guns a blazin. She wasn't involved in a friggin picnic. She deserves the worlds respect either way, and it's a shame that the administration tarnished that. That aside, whether she believes it, or not, she's a hero. Rock on Jessica.
- bilbus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5just because its reported that there are no enemy's in the area .... does not mean there are none. Should they have left their guns at base?
The solders did not know the status of the building and treated it as a hostile situation and acted accordingly. It was a rescue regardless of no incoming fire.
The rescue of a pow is a big deal and should be treated as such ... the Iraqis did not hand her over .. they fled. - catfish182, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"It doesnt matter how they got her out bottom line is we dont leave our boys behind."
Jessica is a girl.
thought i would point that out - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I love the pieces of ***** (like Achalemoipas and L3on and the assheads who dugg their comments) who sit in judgement of our soldiers and how this went down - that it wasn't a rescue.
Who the ***** are any of you slimy little turds to sit in judgement of a rescue mission you weren't on?
I bet every last one of you ***** would piss your ***** pants before you even got off the chopper.
Go do some more "research" L3on - ya ***** turd - so you can report to the soldier in the field and tell 'em how it's done. - iRoy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1FAKE
- axwel, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1hey 'pu-z', wtf do you mean by "she is braver than all the others combined"?
- hagbard72, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2They left out the part where they went into the hospital (the hospital which, btw, notified the US military they had Lynch and wanted to return her to them) with guns blazing shooting medical staff and doctors as they went (the same staff that saved her life). If I were to ever be in a battle against American forces, I'd shot to kill and take no prisoners.
- mtrip, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Puz, were your co-workers killed and were you raped during your IT days?
- frodsteamin2, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2OK USA...good job guys.. i need to go play some SOCOM now
- DiggzDE, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Why the heck did it take so long for this video to get on the internet?
Seriously.. wtf.
Also: Notice how she is telling the truth only after she has cashed out on all those magazine deals and such. Sure its under oath and such now, but come on.
I mean seriously, the whole section of her giving birth was ridiculous and you know the magazines paid well to get her story. - bigfkncee, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2grow up idiot........that was real life not playstation...that kind of ***** isnt a game
- christopheles, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Whoops. Shoulda watched the video first.
- FrawQ, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Although she is telling the truth now, its a little late considering she made a pretty penny off of her expensive book deal saying the opposite.
- Indryd, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
USA! USA! USA! USA!
Hey, what time rasslin' start t'night? - jackelsmack, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3Is it bad that I laughed when she squealed in girlish terror at the loud noise? Buck up soldier, you're surrounded by $20 million in US military equipment.
- landers81, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1we dont leave our people behind and jessica lynch is an example. Those boys kicked ass gettting her out of there. She should ***** be on her knees and thank them for the rest of her life. It doesnt matter how they got her out bottome line is we dont leave our boys behind.
- christopheles, on 10/12/2007, -18/+2Don't Ms Lynch's recent admissions make this a piece of propaganda?
- landers81, on 10/12/2007, -27/+2jessica lynch is an ungrateful bitch. Bashing the guys and the military that rescue her.
