At first I did it in secret, my parents didn't know, even my girlfriend didn't know that I liked to rollerblade. I often did it in parks late at night on weekends. Eventually I started casually rollerblading in public washrooms.

      When I was in HS (between 95-97), all the wannabe skateboarders that couldn't skate for ***** finally gave up and decided they could obtain "coolness" via this cool new thing called "rollerblading" (aka froot-booting).

      Naturally, because the things are STRAPPED TO YOUR ***** FEET and you can't NOT land a trick no matter how hard you try, they didn't suck at it nearly as much as they did at skating/skateboarding.

      Many of them stuck to it and formed a bit of a clique, reveling in their newfound circlejerk coolness.

      Those of us that didn't suck at skateboarding stuck to what we loved most, despite the popularity of frootbooting and the insta-"coolness" it granted, and laughed at all the posers.

      Nobody likes anyone that tries too hard.

But Inline skating is much more dangerous cause you can't just jump off your skateboard when you miss the trick. But I love this joke for some reason. I shouldn't cause I'm a rabid inline speed trick skater, but it's funny anyway and people who start out skating look like waddling dorks usually at first.

      mostly kidding, but inline, compared to skateboarding, is so ***** simple it's a joke that the two are comparable. not to say that really fancy inline tricks aren't difficult, but they are nowhere near the same league as skateboarding.

The only time I have seen anyone say that skateboarding/rollerblading is gay was from amateurs (kid's that are just starting or can't think of anything else to say). I skate with lots of skateboarders and I have noticed that the better the skateboarder is, the more respect you get out of him. Same goes for aggressive skaters... it also doesn't hurt to know some crazy tricks - not a gay aggressive skater. :P
