- Rkstar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+95From the description- "The good news is that all four people on board survived. The unbelievable news is that the pilot's daughter was playing soccer on the field in the background when it happened, and rushed to his father's aid!! "
I think the unbelievable news is that his daughter is a guy. - BigEasy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+47Men in Black... The Core... Superman Returns... apparently flying vehicles are to baseball diamonds as tornadoes are to trailer parks.
- DigiMaso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29It didn't crash land on the baseball field. It landed on the soccer field next to it. (But I guess that doesn't sound as cool.)
- humpy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Come on left fielder...make the play buddy.
- ThankTheCheese, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18I love how the pilot chose to crash on the side of the fence holding the women's soccer game.
good call, mate.
"easy...eeeeasy...if I'm gonna need to be resuscitated I may as well enjoy it..." - ChaserHimself, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Too soon.
- DeskFlyer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17That was a Cessna 207 for anyone who cares.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15No matter what happened the commentator still bored me.
- JudgeDredd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"No way did that just happen." Uh, it did happen. I saw it, so did you. In other news, Alaska televises HS baseball games. I guess they need some sort of entertainment other than dog sledding and moose hunting. Just teasing, all Alaskans, just most people wonder "Why on Earth would you live there?" Pot calling the kettle black. I grew up in northern Iceland.
- FierceGrape, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10pussies
- meleemaster500, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10wasn't it a scene from superman returns :)
- catfish182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5at least there was a video so we know it happened
- seejohnrun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5oooh and space jam?
- fantasticjon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8lame description, Crash lands on a baseball field. manages not to hit the 100s of people in attendance. Looks more like a soccer field. Looks more like got lucky and manages not to hit the 10s of people in attendance. good video though. Can we have more accuracy and less sensationalism in our descriptions please?
- gameforge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You don't suppose that any of those people in the stands had cell phones... do you? I mean keep in mind, this was way back in 2003.
- Vito82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"we got a CRAZY landing going on!"
- andywirtanen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's actually summer collegiate baseball... the footage is from an Alaska Baseball League game on 7/31/03 (Alaska Goldpanners @ Anchorage Bucs). The best college baseball players play in the Alaska or Cape Cod leagues (or Team USA) every summer. The video was originally posted at http://www.goldpanners.com/pannervision/index.html
Play by play of the game: http://www.goldpanners.com/Seasons/2003/Results/07-31_AB_W.htm - hfxadv, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6the most exciting thing ever to happen at a baseball game!
- jthomp3120, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5thats minor league baseball thank you very much. totally played highschool football there!
- gameforge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Anchorage has nearly a hundred schools, according to Wiki... I was expecting more like 10, but I guess it was a bit ironic after all.
- gameforge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you'd read the video description on YouTube, there's a link to the story - there were 500 people in attendance. Also, it technically landed on the track in between the fields.
I agree there are WAY too many examples of inaccurate/artificial sensationalism on Digg; but I don't think this is a terribly great example, since it did crash within inches of the baseball field, and it was indeed during a baseball game; it was the baseball game's footage and announcer; and given what the article says, it was a fairly sensational event to begin with. - howdareyou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm just saying if I witness something worthy of a 9-1-1 call, I don't say to myself "oh I'm sure others around will call'
- Ravenhaft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's not that unlikely that his daughter would be in attendance. They probably have what, two schools in the entire city?
- howdareyou, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I find it funny that the one person who was surely the closest to a telephone (the announcer) didn't bother to call 9-1-1.
- phengley, on 11/04/2008, -0/+1Talk about your odds! http://uptobat.com/
- guregu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Maybe he was grabbing a first aid kit or his cell phone to call an ambulance.
- kiph, on 04/20/2009, -1/+2Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but on the left side of the soccer field next to the bench, a player in a red jersey is talking to what appears to be a coach. The plane crashes like 50 feet from them, yet they keep talking. Then, the player and other dude, showing no reaction to the plane crash, just turn and casually walk to the left, where the player seems ot be going into a bag of his stuff. LOL.
- talkart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1what you mean is that she rushed to her fathers aid not to HIS father aid.
but i guess your right if she is a he. - sannm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2actually this is one of the first "web" videos I ever saw and god I have no idea how many years ago it was, pretty sure it was more than 2-3 years ago tho...ya I know i'm gonna get dugg down...just my 3am story
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Well i am being dugg down anyway, so ***** it. this is freakin old
- Soulglow, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4not only old, but i'm sure i've seen it on here before.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5Do you have a fetish for being dugg down? because i can tell you right now, whether you are right or not, you will allways be dugg into the depths of the internet if you make a comment like that.
- fweepa, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1"and its on FIRE! no way did this just happen folks! we're not fliming this at all! nope! its all an illusion!"
glad everyone's okay though :/ - brendanc, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3Yeah this is probably about 2-3 years old. Too bad they didn't keep filming.
- tatltat, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4it didn't explode :(
- BHSPitMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -12/+6Old, old video.
- starguy, on 10/12/2007, -15/+6Didn't look like a single one of those baseball guys went past the gate door onto the soccer field to help at all. They all just ran to look.
Reminds me of the Southpark episode, where the Southpark kids get rid of the parents, and draw a line through the middle of the town seperating the Southpark gang on one side, and the kindergardeners on the other side. And you don't cross the line at all because its taboo and dangerous. Is that's what going on here, they dared not step onto the other field turf lest they start a turf war?!?!?!
This video needs to be edited, where they cut to show us later footage of the plane wreck, so we can see what it looked like on the other side of the fence. Otherwise, its kind of frustrating to watch. You'd like to see what happened, see suvivors, get them on video, etc. - FierceGrape, on 10/12/2007, -24/+7Cory Liddle was late for the game...... too soon?
