- fpssledge, on 12/02/2007, -9/+473...wow.
People have opposing opinions on that last taser video (the Hwy Patrolman in Utah).
I really hope everyone can agree with this one. This guy wasn't even walking away or anything. He gets out of his car and the cop is already pointing a taser at him. When the cop starts yelling and pointing the gun at him, the guy is obviously confused.
I don't care WHAT people say about listening to cops. When cops act like this, there is NO reason to listen to them or obey their orders. That is of course if you can even understand what they're doing.
Remember, this is all over a traffic stop because of speeding!? And a license plate missing!?! Come on. I don't care how much cops have to put up with every day on the job. There's no reason to act the way this guy did. - Koookie, on 12/02/2007, -8/+415I can see it in my mind:
Topic: Videos » Tasering incidents - dn11, on 12/02/2007, -6/+364looks like a case of "driving while black"
- Appox, on 12/02/2007, -5/+336***** HE'S CONFUSED, TASE HIM! BACKUP, I NEED BACKUP!
- Blaircowanuk, on 12/02/2007, -11/+282what a douche.
- baldick, on 12/02/2007, -5/+242"Do you have any black friends........any friends at all....?"
LOL - tomz17, on 12/02/2007, -4/+218Wow... this is the first tasering video I've seen where I can't even begin to justify what was going through the cops mind... The copy is just a complete douche.
- inactive, on 12/02/2007, -6/+179Man tasered for breathing!
- slicerace, on 12/02/2007, -3/+173Interesting - the officer was suspended and the Austin PD actually issued an apology. Better than nothing, I guess. Article here:
http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/ ... - nizzy1115, on 12/02/2007, -7/+170"get out of the car" guy gets out "get in the car and give me your license" im getting you my license! tase tase tase
- TheBigBentley, on 12/02/2007, -21/+175Another worthless pig.
- xerus, on 12/02/2007, -4/+138"Failure to give me your drivers license." is worth being tasered I guess.
- inactive, on 12/02/2007, -3/+135The guy is laying there after being tased and the cops yelling "GET ON THE GROUND"
just helps prove is really stupid - GorfTron, on 12/02/2007, -5/+102Donut induced psychosis?
- kgasso, on 12/02/2007, -6/+99The cop was on edge from the second he walked up to the car. Touching the back of the car as he walks up to leave his prints in case this guy takes off/shoots him/runs him over, quickly rattles off his name and verbal commands that are barely intelligible, and gives conflicting commands. He was looking for a reason to pull this guy out of the car. I can't help but to think it is VERY racially motivated...
- digitalsin, on 12/02/2007, -3/+91What an *****. Totally, not even remotely justifiable.
- masamunecyrus, on 12/02/2007, -5/+92What the hell is it with American police? So rarely have I met a friendly American police officer. Often times, in fact, they are perfectly respectable people in real life, and as soon as they go into cop mode, they are power-hungry *****.
People always give excuses like, "well, they have to do with crap all the time," and "they have to deal with people who actually want to kill them."
Then why is it that those who have served in the military seem to be overwhelmingly more friendly and less power-hungry? Military servicemen actually DO have to deal with people that want to kill them.
And now that I'm over here in Japan, all of the police that I've encountered have been VERY friendly and helpful, more so than I could have ever expected. It's ridiculous. - rhedwolf, on 12/02/2007, -3/+78Taking money away from the education system = paving the way for a police state.
- jggr, on 12/02/2007, -2/+773 day suspension? That's all this dude got?
That's criminal. - imolaavant, on 12/02/2007, -1/+72How do all these police dash-cams make it to the public? And just imagine how many don't!
- lonnieh, on 12/02/2007, -20/+90"Go ahead, bury me you stupid, cop hating, liberals."
its a shame that burying you is the most i can do to you. ***** pig. - inactive, on 12/02/2007, -3/+66When you get pulled over ALWAYS make sure your doors are locked and just crack open your window.
- Slick50, on 12/02/2007, -3/+61That's insane! More Cops Gone Wild. And how convenient that they blur out the power trippers face. Don't get me wrong, I support the police most of the time, but rogues like this need to be removed from the dept. It's a good thing that video caught this, otherwise I'm sure nothing would come of it as the Cops word always out weighs the arrested (victim in this case)
- DickyT83, on 12/02/2007, -2/+59It almost looked like the driver had a license plate or a temp driver tag in the left rear of his back window. It's kind of blurry so can't tell for sure. Overall, complete overreaction by the cop.
- qbyte, on 12/02/2007, -3/+58Sickening. He should have been fired.
- beasty_dave_Mk2, on 12/02/2007, -5/+58I want someone to tase your mom while you watch.
- PHiZ187, on 12/02/2007, -8/+61Outlaw Tasers. They have become the Police's first option, and that is unacceptable.
- Legato, on 12/02/2007, -13/+65he also had no rear license for what its worth
- ghamal, on 12/02/2007, -0/+51"After an investigation, the department’s Internal Affairs office saw no need for disciplinary action. But then-Acting Chief Cathy Ellison reviewed it and ordered a three-day suspension for O’Connor, who served it and then returned to duty."
3 day suspension?! give me a ***** break. he should have been charged with assault. - Skwerl, on 12/02/2007, -1/+51They should lose there jobs over incidents like this, and I'm not talking paid leave while they investigate either. A taser is meant to be used in a situation that would normally require a gun, not as a replacement for handcuffs. This "officer" pulled his taser far too quickly, and he escalated the situation by being a prick, and not giving the man even 15 seconds to get his insurance and license.
- garbanzo, on 12/02/2007, -1/+50I thought you were being sarcastic up until that last sentence. From the time the officer approached the car to the time he shot the taser is about 45 seconds as far as I can tell (just look at the time code) The driver didn't make an aggressive comment or movement at any time. How can you possibly back the officer on this?
- kingsaliva, on 12/02/2007, -2/+51They should absolutely add the category.
- mrsneakypat, on 12/02/2007, -17/+66*obligatory PIGS comment*
- qbyte, on 12/02/2007, -4/+49Why is this just now getting attention? It happened in 2006. The people need to take to the streets in protest. This has gone far enough!
- getatmedigg, on 12/02/2007, -8/+51I think there's enough videos now to have a "America's Funniest Taser Videos" show with Tom Bergeron.
- xorkaya, on 12/02/2007, -2/+45Agreed.
Hmm... there seems to be a trend lately. Instead of a [pic] section on digg, I vote we get a 'tazered' section going here. - aukxsona, on 12/02/2007, -0/+42I hope the bastard lost his ***** job.
- smacksaw, on 12/02/2007, -5/+46Considering I don't masturbate with my insurance 5x a day like you, I often have to actually look for it which can take a few moments.
But I guess at Coronado they taught you to stick it up your ass at all times with the giant broomstick you seem to be carrying. I guess you're always ready to give up your tough guy demeanor to anyone in authority that tells you what to do. - MalumProhibitum, on 12/02/2007, -0/+39amazing, 3 days suspension?? If he hadnt been wearing a badge, hed have gotten 3 years in 'pounded in the ass' prison for aggravated battery.
- howitzeral, on 12/02/2007, -0/+39I've known several cops and know only a small portion what they have to go through every day, so I'm usually willing to give them the benefit of the doubt in many situations. BUT, this one is completely ridiculous! The driver was not being disobedient, disrespectful, uncooperative, combative, or anything else like that. The cop was 100% wrong on this one. I hope he got some serious disciplining over this, if not a firing.
Note that the video is from 2006, so surely there's info out there by now about how this played out. - p2a1x7, on 12/02/2007, -0/+38"After an investigation, the department’s Internal Affairs office saw no need for disciplinary action. But then-Acting Chief Cathy Ellison reviewed it and ordered a three-day suspension for O’Connor, who served it and then returned to duty."
http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/ ... - Tourney3p0, on 12/02/2007, -3/+40While looking for a follow-up on what happened, I found this:
----
O'Connor was given a slap on the hand by then Interim Chief Cathy Ellison. When the incident and tape became public last week, Chief Acevedo announced the tape would be used for training purposes, to show officers what not to do.
----
I'd really like someone to come in and say that he has since been fired. - TheWedge, on 12/02/2007, -2/+39I keep a messy car, is that against the law?
- ggbs, on 12/02/2007, -2/+39reminds me of what happens when you overbudget the police department in Simcity 3000
- smacksaw, on 12/02/2007, -2/+36Anyone remember Craig Peyer?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Peyer
If they're not strangulating people, they're tasering them.
The thing to remember is because of that incident all you need to do is slide your licence and insurance out the crack of your window and you can demand another officer show up if you feel threatened. I think that if I ever had a guy escalate like that I would lock all of the doors and dial 911. You're going to jail anyway. - DrShotgun, on 12/02/2007, -2/+35All in all, that woman handled it pretty well.
- Rolcol, on 12/02/2007, -3/+36That guy was just looking to give a ticket. I guess he's payed on commission.
- inactive, on 12/02/2007, -3/+35Is somebody trolling Digg, pretending to be a navy seal?
