- Winkleman, on 05/19/2009, -8/+764Now that is Irony.
- blorc, on 05/20/2009, -5/+654Let me get this straight... he was demonstrating gun safety by putting a gun to his head and pulling the trigger?
Did anyone even read this before it was posted? Instead, how about: "A 26-year-old ***** accidentally killed himself early Sunday when he pointed a gun at his head and pulled the trigger in an effort to show two Sierra Vista residents how one can accidentally kill oneself." - latin69, on 05/20/2009, -14/+608Darwin award..................FTW!
- inactive, on 05/20/2009, -37/+456Buried as inaccurate.
He was not a gun safety advocate as the description states. He was some random guy who was not practicing gun safety at all. - TMac08, on 05/20/2009, -4/+345Treat every gun like it's loaded. Every time. Let this be a lesson to any other gun owners.
- CeruleanRed, on 05/20/2009, -1/+313I'd go on to say this: I grew up around guns. Even as a child I understood that you never point a gun at anything you don't want to shoot and kill.
I had a friend who would wave his guns around, casually let them point at people as he held them. One day he did this with a Glock. When I reminded him to be more careful - he pointed it at my head and laughed, "it's unloaded, it can't hurt you."
I walked out the door and never saw the guy again.
This is a sad reminder to respect the killing power of firearms, and the unfortunate reality of human error. - warcin, on 05/20/2009, -3/+279I guess he proved his point
- DeadSkinMask, on 05/20/2009, -5/+222Reminds me of this guy:

- jrburkh, on 05/20/2009, -3/+187"Indeed, one of the first rules of gun safety is to never point the gun at something you [don't] intend to fire a bullet at"
There seems to be a lot of confusion out there about this whole gun safety thing... - Blisshead, on 05/20/2009, -3/+158Your will be one of the few intelligent posts and sadly one of the most overlooked.
Rule 1) all guns are loaded, even when they are not.
another important rule = never point it anything you don't want to destroy, including your own head. - CoD4, on 05/20/2009, -12/+165Clearly he should've had another gun to protect himself from the first one
- MemoryMotion, on 05/20/2009, -14/+154BOOM! Headshot!
- TruthKid, on 05/20/2009, -1/+139The irony consortium has spoken, we have discovered irony
- inactive, on 05/20/2009, -14/+136Indeed, one of the first rules of gun safety is to never point the gun at something you intend to fire a bullet at. That's like teaching drivers ed by racing down the highway and texting while telling the students not to do this.
- LTAnderson, on 05/20/2009, -0/+115Irony is the opposite of wrinkly.
- mohrt, on 05/20/2009, -2/+117He forgot gun safety rule #1.
A gun is ALWAYS loaded. ALWAYS. Period.
Now, if you know for 100% certain the gun is not loaded, refer to rule #1. Always treat any and all guns as if they were loaded and things like this aren't given the chance to happen. - MelvinSchlubman, on 05/20/2009, -5/+118FTA: "An investigation is ongoing, but police do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved, Mitchell said."
Apparently, the neglected to test for stupidity. Too late. - nmezib, on 05/20/2009, -2/+110He forgot about the gun safety rule that says "never point a gun to your head, whether you think it's loaded or not
- inactive, on 05/20/2009, -2/+103The real irony is when grammar nazis try to correct others on their misuse of the word "irony," when in fact that statement in question actually does use the word "irony" correctly.
- daivos, on 05/20/2009, -5/+102Natural selection.
- thegrantman, on 05/20/2009, -5/+95You're not doing it right.
- powatom, on 05/20/2009, -7/+97Mind....blown....
- NealKasper, on 05/20/2009, -2/+89Every gun is always loaded. Always. It's the first rule of gun safety. +1 for Darwinism.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 05/20/2009, -1/+77Youtube is blocked here, I'm guessing it's the black guy with dreads?
- audiblesilence, on 05/20/2009, -2/+78Gun Safety 101...do not point the gun at anything unless you intend on shooting it.
Here's what NOT to do. - sexybobo, on 05/20/2009, -3/+781. "All guns are always loaded".
2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
4. Always be sure of your target.
5. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
If you follow those rules i doubt you would ever have an accident and if you do it won't be a bad one because you wont have your gun pointed at any one. - sjbdallas, on 05/20/2009, -4/+79Don't try this at home.
- LockeNCole, on 05/20/2009, -0/+74Now we can refine it to steely!
- Contradictions, on 05/20/2009, -3/+68Proper gun safety would be to never point a gun at your head, whether you think it's loaded or not. This man was killed because he didn't demonstrate gun safety.
- MemoryMotion, on 05/20/2009, -2/+63That's thats too many 'thats'
- TeraRealm256, on 05/20/2009, -0/+61even unloaded, you should NEVER point a gun at something you don't want to kill...NEVER!!!
- inactive, on 05/20/2009, -4/+64Before handling a gun for any other reason than to shoot it,
**ALWAYS**

Inpect, but Assume it will always fire. - WELLDOITLIVE, on 05/20/2009, -3/+61By looking down the barrel!
- inactive, on 05/19/2009, -34/+87Interesting. That's thats all that needs to be said
- dok333, on 05/20/2009, -0/+536. Also be aware of of anything beyond the target
- rheaume, on 05/20/2009, -3/+56DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS MAN
Always check the gun before cleaning it by pointing it at your head, chanting USA USA USA then pulling the trigger until you are sure its empty! - ggtsu, on 05/20/2009, -1/+52On the contrary, he took the stupidity test and passed with flying colors.
- MrMischiefVIP, on 05/20/2009, -14/+64I love guns, I own many, I grew up with guns. But andoru you're right. If you're to stupid to know how to use one properly, you're safest from a gun by not having one.
For those of us who have a brain, we can have guns. - TomJihad, on 05/20/2009, -5/+53can he just call it a 'magazine' or does he have to capitalize the whole ***** thing, mr. gun terminology police?
- beerhound, on 05/20/2009, -2/+50I'm absolutely floored by the fact that a "firearms safety expert" would point a gun at himself or anyone else for any reason other than to stop an attack. I'm not even a "professional" and even so, anytime I have taught anyone the rules of firearms safety the first step was to pick it up and check that the weapon was cleared. They are ALL loaded, ALL the time until you check it. Checking it in the morning and assuming for the rest of the day that it is safe isn't good enough. Check it EACH and EVERY time you handle it. I honestly feel for the guy's family, but what is so ***** hard about picking it up and pulling the slide back or popping the cylinder open on a revolver to make sure the weapon is clear?
- shadus, on 05/20/2009, -0/+46The first rule I learned about firearms is never point them, loaded or not, at something you don't want to kill. It has served me very well. It's a lesson he should have remembered.
@beerhound- They are all loaded all the time *even if you check them.* My uncle was visiting my father (this was back in the 80s) and my dad handed him a new pump shotgun and before he pointed it outside at a tree he pumped it three times. Third time a live round ejected. My dad had used the gun the day before and pumped it several times that morning as he was cleaning it.
Never point a gun at something you don't want to kill period. Loaded, unloaded, whatever. A gun is always something to be respected and treated like it can kill. Because the first time you forget that it can horrible accidents can happen. - KingGorilla, on 05/20/2009, -8/+50No, irony is when it rains on your wedding day
- rblancarte, on 05/20/2009, -5/+46Dugg for being on of the first apropos uses of the word Irony on digg.
- Bumface, on 05/20/2009, -0/+40Not quite. The idea is that you should never point a gun at anything you DON'T intend to fire a bullet at.
Obviously, if you accidentally shoot something you intended to shoot anyway, as a result of pointing a gun at it, then that's not such a bad thing. - MacBigot, on 05/20/2009, -0/+38"If it's a bear, it's hungry.
If it's a gun, it's loaded.
If it's a camera, it's rolling.
If it's a mic, it's on."
-- Scott Wilder - KenSPT, on 05/20/2009, -4/+42Do as I say, not as I do.
- seltaeb4, on 05/20/2009, -2/+38This is exactly what I was reminded of when I saw the headline!
- justaboutdead, on 05/20/2009, -0/+35At it is finest?
its - acroyear2, on 05/20/2009, -0/+35Hold on. Let me write this down...
