    Here in the US the man would be thrown in jail and immediately added to sex offenders list. The woman would get a firm warning and possibly probation while the mans life would be completely destroyed. New Zealand handled an awkward situation perfectly.

      An interesting note; the news from NZ referred to the 17yo as a woman whereas in the American press she would have been referred to as a girl, much like the poster did in the title. One way makes him sound like a potential child rapist, the other just makes him sound like any other normal horny male.

I'm in FL, and the maximum age that can be with a 16 year old is 24, and we're one of the more liberal states in that regard.
