- jemka, on 06/05/2009, -1/+42Since disarming someone is rather manly, I noticed you went the other way with your analogy.
- nickmdp, on 06/05/2009, -0/+36This is an article that definitely needs a video to go along with it
- BroadcastEng, on 06/04/2009, -1/+28"If you're going to be a thief, you need to learn who to mark and who to leave be!"
- Jimmy the Hand - slowspin, on 06/05/2009, -2/+27It's like challenging the next person who walks in the room to a dance-off, only to find out it's Michael Jackson walking in.
Or Kevin Federline.
OK maybe not Kevin. - alex7575, on 06/06/2009, -1/+26"He said his two adult sons and a neighbor helped subdue Marte. "
I have a feeling that "subdue" really means "beat the living crap out of" - charlie6969, on 06/04/2009, -1/+23oops
- siszam, on 06/06/2009, -1/+22Where they fast as lightning? I bet it was a little bit frightening.
- branndon, on 06/06/2009, -0/+17What a horrible article! It could have probably fit in the article description here on digg.
- codyman, on 06/06/2009, -0/+16This reminds me of the dude that decided to try to rob a gunshop at gunpoint a while back -- needless to say, I forget how many rounds hit the robber, but I remember it as being in multiples of 10
- Gndoab, on 06/06/2009, -0/+16For those who dug him down:
A gun is a useful tool when you are 10-15 feet away from a person. The distance gives the gun handler the ability to have power over his victim, without having the chance of the gun being taken. Close up, it is easy for someone to take a gun. A knife on the other hand is much more appropriate close up, due to the fact that it is much harder to dodge a horizontal swipe of a knife than the line of a bullet, not to mention that the victim can't grab the end of a knife like they can the barrel of a gun. - 13att13, on 06/06/2009, -0/+14What about the one where some whacked out guy tried to rob some cash from an ex-military pilot dude at his apartment with some really advanced gun, but it was obvious he didn't know how to use the gun so the military man, who knew all about the gun, tricked the robber into deactivating the gun, then he took it away from him, put it into a cool hydraulic basket with a bunch of other guns and then let the robber go.
- DangerCollie, on 06/05/2009, -0/+14Ha-ha! Reminds of living briefly in Brunswick, GA. FLETC is there and when you went out, half the people in the restaurant were off duty feds.
- Krakerjax, on 06/06/2009, -0/+14 Using a gun to mug this guy is like trying to fight James Bond with a fork and 3 marbles.
- fuzzytank, on 06/06/2009, -1/+14Looks like the only mugging today...
*puts on sunglasses*
... will be his mug shot.
YEEAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- akchrs, on 06/06/2009, -0/+12I'm sure they fought with expert timing.
- Ajajadude, on 06/06/2009, -0/+10I'm trying to picture this...
- yeahwhatever58, on 06/06/2009, -0/+10But then what would be wrong with that fiction statement?? I mean if you are a mugger or thief, it sounds like sound advice...
- NidStyles, on 06/06/2009, -0/+9Good, maybe he'll learn something out of all of this...
- mysticalone, on 06/06/2009, -0/+9This is why I carry a katana to a gun fight.
- DirtyMcGee, on 06/05/2009, -0/+9Hahahahaha. Dumbass
- alewares, on 06/06/2009, -0/+9Remember the one where the robber attempted to hijack a van, only to find out it was filled with trained martial arts fighters?
- stupidfilters, on 06/06/2009, -0/+7well, that depends if you're macgyver or not...
I'm sure he would make that fork and 3 marbles into something formidable within a few minutes - akchrs, on 06/06/2009, -0/+7Monkey steals the Peach
http://www.flickr.com/photos/theremina/17267938/ - FurtThePirate, on 06/06/2009, -0/+7massive blood loss causes death O.O
- JustinNoland, on 06/06/2009, -1/+8Mag. It's not that hard.
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/t ... - CaseKey, on 06/05/2009, -0/+6This story somehow sounds familiar.
- TheNik, on 06/06/2009, -1/+7Actually that isn't at all what happened.
- xixphz, on 06/05/2009, -3/+9Glad the mugger was retarded and didnt use a knife.
- soNz91, on 06/05/2009, -6/+12Whats the point your trying to make? No one should have firearms? He was a trained expert, and it was a lucky thing he was.
- Halsfield, on 06/06/2009, -0/+6gimme da cash !
- btschul, on 06/06/2009, -0/+6I hear the robber had a very nice hat on.
- JCEEZ, on 06/06/2009, -0/+6I hope so.
- ifruit, on 06/06/2009, -0/+5Keep going, I like this story.
- indyGuy, on 06/06/2009, -0/+5It's called "reporting" and not "journalism" (bad reporting, at that).
- inactive, on 06/06/2009, -1/+6nope, but the criminal still had a weapon :)
- JCEEZ, on 06/06/2009, -0/+4/s
- noahgelman, on 06/06/2009, -0/+4That reminds me of another story I heard of a guy trying to rob a gun store. A few seconds after the perp pulls out the gun and points it at the owner he had about 6 guns pointed at his head. He promptly gave up up and was arrested.
- Black6x, on 06/06/2009, -0/+4From a law-enforcement standpoint, once he disarms the individual, the "threat" is removed, which means that his ability to use deadly force, as allowed under the DOJ's Deadly Force Policy is also removed. However, if he had disarmed the individual, and the guy attempted to attack, and or retake the gun, Dwyer could have shot the attacker due to the threat of the individual retaking the gun and using it to kill Dwyer.
http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m2194/is_n4_ ... - Black6x, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3The guy works for the DOJ. of course he means "beat the crap out of."
- inactive, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3You're not Lyle.
- gilgamesh23, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3Aww... see? It's a love story!
- smotpoker, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3That one was pretty awesome! I wonder if there is a clip of it somewhere... ;)
- psykiv, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3You're also assuming the town has absolutely no people in from another town in there right now
- consonance, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3Up, up, and arrested!
- Helloween2008, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3not all firearm instructors are created equal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhIJOVD8hwY - hfactor, on 06/06/2009, -1/+4Or maybe you wouldn't live in one of the most crime ridden developed countries if you'd do what less crime ridden developed countries did: Outlaw guns. Just a thought...
- OpCzar, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3This reminds me of the dude who threatened a slaughterhouse/butchery at knifepoint - can't find the story but they cut him up real nice-like.
- rjejr, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3Inside that mugger's head for the entire rest of his life is going to be his voice saying:
"What are the odds? What are the odds?!?!" - OptykUnreal, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2...wasn't he an innocent bystander?
