- temptxan, on 11/28/2008, -18/+752No gift is worth another's life.
- soflasooner, on 11/28/2008, -6/+696Absolutely pathetic!
- mcm297, on 11/28/2008, -17/+609This happens every year, and is the main reason why I stay home after Thanksgiving.
- inactive, on 11/28/2008, -38/+496Except a Nintendo 64.
- kismetropolis, on 11/28/2008, -12/+448This is exactly the reason I have never and will never participate in crazy Black Friday shopping. Something like this happens every single year. Without fail.
People forget they're human beings and act like monsters. People forget this is supposed to be the season of giving and peace and goodwill, and will hurt other human beings to get to the materialistic things they think will show love to the people in their lives.
At the cost of another's.
Horrible.
And despite this, they won't do away with Black Friday because greed is the real emotion here. - shaggy25, on 11/28/2008, -15/+378"Welcome to Wal-MaAAAAAAAGH."
- sb66, on 11/28/2008, -57/+410"Black" friday seems to be a good description. Check out the crowd
http://www.nydailynews.com/money/galleries/walmart ... - wonttellya, on 11/28/2008, -6/+323I think Black Friday became more of a sick sport than anything else. Shoppers: I saved $20 on a $40 DVD player waiting in line 3 hours since 2AM. Well yeah, I got this MP3 player for free after rebate by waiting all night in front of a Wal-Mart and kill a baby.
***** pathetic. - Protonz, on 11/28/2008, -6/+276*Please don't be black*

Awww... crap - Natitude, on 11/28/2008, -6/+272I doubt jailing the 100's of people is the most logical course of action, but if it were my store, I would have immediately closed all cash register sand told all those customers they aren't welcome to buy products here and get the hell out.
- ilovepoop, on 11/28/2008, -12/+262trying to think of something funny to say... but there really aren't words to describe how sad this.
- mt2k3, on 11/28/2008, -41/+287Seriously...everyone who is saying "This is why I hate shopping" and "This is why I don't go out on Black Friday" make me laugh.
Ghetto is Ghetto...what did you think you were going to see at Walmart? Classy people? COME ON
I went to Kohl's for their 4am opening. It was pleasant. Helpful workers, pleasant shoppers. I found what I needed and got out. I then left Kohl's and went to Toys R Us for their 5am opening.
Same thing @ Toys R Us. No stampedes, pleasant people saying things like "you were ahead of me, go right ahead" etc.
After leaving TRU, I made it to Target for their 6am opening. Hopped into line with my brother in law, maybe about 100 or so people back. There were 2 cops and security guards making sure nobody skipped the line, or ran, etc.
Again, pleasant, no stampedes, fairly uneventful, and I got everything I planned on getting.
(it's going to be funny getting buried because I'm not OMG SENSATIONALIST! because someone got trampled in the middle of the ghetto, at a ghetto store...while MILLIONS of other people had a pleasant enjoyable time shopping everywhere else) - pstroll, on 11/28/2008, -9/+242Someone must've alerted the horde
- Allstarn08, on 11/28/2008, -1/+208Considering that each shopper weighs about 350 lbs, it wouldn't take many to kill him
- elvenrunelord, on 11/28/2008, -17/+218I agree everyone who was there should be charged with accessory to murder and those who were seen trampling them charged with actual murder
- oPoTyKaH, on 11/28/2008, -21/+198Oh, finally I understood why it is called 'black friday'
- howdog, on 11/28/2008, -10/+158
There is no sadder commentary on the state of our country than this. - TerekKincaid, on 11/28/2008, -18/+155Everyone in that line should go to jail. After last year's experience (at Staple's of all places), I decided to give up Black Friday. Looks like it's a good thing I did. Pathetic.
- phasm42, on 11/28/2008, -3/+135THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS
- inactive, on 11/28/2008, -18/+145Not surprised, Walmart is land of the white and black trash. "Animal like" behavior comes with the territory.
- ronaldhennessy, on 11/28/2008, -1/+124I worked retail for many years. I have either seen or heard about stampede incidents. We hear all about the shoppers who wait for hours on end to get a $2.99 DVD or a $300 HDTV, we hear about the shoppers that get what they want or not and we also hear about people getting into fistfights over what is basically cheap imported goods heavily discounted. But in the mainstream media, we often don't hear from the actual employees who must endure this day that mostly involves pushy, abusive shoppers and must endure long, long hours. I think those workers should speak up, screw what their company thinks about them.
- terracottapai, on 11/28/2008, -1/+122I hope they suspended sales once the guy was killed.
Let those ***** stand there at the checkouts holding their ever so precious and now unpurchasable goods while the poor man's body is wheeled past them and out of the store. - jhance, on 11/28/2008, -15/+132Thank you, mindless consumerism. Material items have never brought happiness and never will, yet they have become our life's purpose and goal. This is beyond tragic: it is a waste of life without meaning or purpose.
- Dimbleby, on 11/28/2008, -1/+112well, they shouldn'ta ***** killed someone in a stampede.
***** SAVAGES. - TheBigBad, on 11/28/2008, -26/+131When you get between a black person and a discounted big screen, bad things happen.
- inactive, on 11/28/2008, -13/+109Well, it's as close to legal looting as you can get...
- Shiftgood, on 11/28/2008, -3/+98i know its wrong... but i busted up when i read this.
- thermus, on 11/28/2008, -4/+98"Blitz line starts here ->" WTF?
- inactive, on 11/28/2008, -10/+101Then you're going to have a riot on your hands. If those people were willing to stampede over people to buy things, what do you think they're going to do when you tell them they waited in line in the cold for hours for nothing?
- TurtleBeoulve, on 11/28/2008, -2/+88They don't need better security, they need a better class of people. ***** pathetic that some guy lost his life so that someone could get to the easy bake ovens a little faster than all the rest...
- wright3279, on 11/28/2008, -11/+92Get the latest gadget from China! One reason I really hate the Christmas season, the way it's become. You start seeing the Christmas junk in stores in early September. Then those non-stop phony sentimental shows on TV. Then feed the unfortunates on Christmas day and go home and feel good about yourself. What do they eat the other 364 days? Christmas. Bah, Humbug.
- scoottie, on 11/28/2008, -1/+77that is horrible.
i dont understand waiting in line for days or trying to be the first in line to get into a store for black Friday when you can find the same deals on the internet and sleep in your own bed and have it delivered to you. - Benjigga, on 11/28/2008, -1/+76Oooooo- too soon?
... then again it does have 64 bits of techology... 64 bits. - ipushmycar, on 11/28/2008, -3/+77Why would the manager get fired? An employee was MURDERED. Thus, making the whole Walmart, and the people in it, a CRIME SCENE.
I really couldn't think of a better reason to close the store. - rhunlimited, on 11/28/2008, -3/+71This is just so terrible. Everyone who stepped on him should be prosecuted.
- TheGuruStud, on 11/28/2008, -3/+70I didn't even see the Boomer!
- tmoney578, on 11/28/2008, -5/+70I believe the proper term is "African American Friday."
- 7papa7, on 11/28/2008, -13/+77This is sick, but I personally hold the companies responsible. Every year someone gets seriously hurt or killed. They should have enough security to make sure people are safe. It is sick that a few bucks is more important than the safety of the people. The other option is to not just put a handful of things on at a give away price and let everyone get it for the same price. This being said, people should put a stop to going to these stores until they have adequate security to keep ALL the people safe. The stores can afford a few thousand dollars to ensue the safety of their customers. The loss of one customer will more than pay for the security over a years time. They have made it quite obvious that the only thing that is important to them is the almighty dollar.
- gbarger, on 11/28/2008, -10/+74Now Wal-Mart will probably make his family pay back the insurance money from going to the hospital.
- diehipstersdiee, on 11/28/2008, -2/+64This is ***** insane. I wonder if each person who stepped on the victim got their item of choice - it was totally worth it, I bet.
- AgentOgre, on 11/28/2008, -13/+74well check out the white people in this black friday video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0HhwoxK6uw , nice orderly stream of people into Best Buy. Your move.
- ipushmycar, on 11/28/2008, -1/+61dude, socks are 38 cents off, along with buy one pair get one free. how would you not go at 4 am for that?
- inactive, on 11/28/2008, -1/+61Poor guy was still young, too.
- DaDrake, on 11/28/2008, -1/+57They should make the entire mob do mandatory community service during every single holiday (including breaks from work) for the next 10 years. They shouldn't be able to enjoy Christmas after this.
- mt2k3, on 11/28/2008, -12/+67I didn't WAIT, I went to Kohl's...for their 4am Opening.
Did I say, "I waited"? I think not. Shopping on BF is a tradition that me and my wife have. Even if we weren't buying time limited items, etc, it's a fun thing we do together every year. - Benso87, on 11/28/2008, -1/+56Wow, people suck.
- thegreatsam, on 11/28/2008, -2/+52Yes, the workers life is totally worth saving $2 over.
Sad. - inactive, on 11/28/2008, -1/+50Whats got 2000 legs and an IQ of 3
- TunaFishGangsta, on 11/28/2008, -3/+51The worst part is that they were playing the Benny Hill song when the store opened.
