- LewP, on 07/23/2008, -75/+41OK..now we are talking.
USA, USA, USA!- SirReally, on 07/25/2008, -6/+9I'm going to digg you up, for what I can only hope is a massive amount of sarcasm on your part.
- mattearle, on 07/25/2008, -3/+8Digg users getting dumber. Gotta love the IQ cycle of website user bases as they rise to mainstreamdom. Sigh.
- EmperorAwesome, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Digg users getting dumber. Gotta love the self-assured ***** cycle of website user bases as they become mainstream. (I'll leave the self-satisfied sigh out)
- blacktriangle, on 07/25/2008, -5/+8We need a compilation of Iraqi Resistance videos showing the destruction of the US war machine.
- pushplaynow, on 07/23/2008, -75/+43It sucks to have war, but regardless of how you feel you should support the U.S. Armed Forces 100%. Go USA! Don't forget about the other countries in there helping too....
- sogeshirts, on 07/24/2008, -19/+14100 percent agree. I'm not pro war but as long as the troops are there I will support them.
- KidKenosha, on 07/24/2008, -16/+40What about if you're not from the U.S?
What about if you're a British parent, whose son was killed by friendly fire in the Gulf War, and were then snubbed by the US A-10 pilots who refused to face an inquiry into his death despite the fact that they could not be convicted in any way, shape or form?
What if you're an Iraqi whose daughter was raped by a team of blood-crazy Marines?
What if you're a prisoner at Abu Ghraib, or a villager in My Lai?
I expect to get slammed for this, but it needs to be said. While it is appropriate (and necessary) to not hold soldiers, sailors and airmen responsible for the actions of their superiors, it also appropriate (and necessary!) to keep such support in context. By all means stand behind those brave enough to lay themselves on the line, but temper that support with realism and an appreciation that atrocities are committed by soldiers on all sides of war, at all levels of command.- DeathWish808, on 07/24/2008, -13/+7Ok, but you left out alot of what if's. Nobody ever said the US is perfect, but neither is GB or any other country. Alot of countries have people and military that have done the same things as US. What if we just stayed in our own country and just defended our land from here. What would happen to all those other countries that can't protect themselves? What if....etc etc etc.
- flavioribeiro, on 07/24/2008, -8/+24If you're any of these people then you suddenly become an insurgent or a terrorist.
The unconditional support for the troops is *****. It's a gimmick to prevent people from actually thinking about what they're indirectly supporting. - sk11, on 07/24/2008, -4/+14Crazy Euros always thinking in greys, Americans are only able to think in black and white, something is always either good OR evil.
@deathwish
If Americans realise they're not perfect, why do many of them support their military 100%? Britons usually don't. - DeathWish808, on 07/24/2008, -15/+4I'm not saying that our troops and military are perfect by any means, but I support the one's doing their job. I don't support anyone doing things that are unnecessary no matter where you're from.
- TrthS33Kr, on 07/24/2008, -9/+15Any of our troops being in Iraq is completely unnecessary. We have no right and no business interfering there. They did not ask for us to come there. Iraq has not attacked us or committed any sort of an overt or provocative act against the US.
This is the stupidest topic I have ever seen on digg, and the most offensive to me as a human being. What, are you 12 years old? You should be ashamed of yourself. People like you make me ashamed of my own country, and ashamed of the human race. Real life is not a video game. If that was you or members of your family or friends being killed or maimed for no legitimate reason whatsoever you might think differently.
Try and grow up, kid. There is nothing fun, exciting or positive about the senseless killing and maiming of other human beings unless you are functionally retarded or a psychopath. And I think even the functionally retarded would not take pleasure in the senseless harm to other humans for no reason.
We have no business whatsoever messing around over there in someone else's country that has nothing to do with us. This has nothing to do with protecting our freedoms, and it actually puts our freedoms at risk. And it has everything to do with war profiteering, profits for the military industrial complex, and interfering in the affairs of a sovereign nation where we have no right. Making war unilaterally on a civilian population is an international war crime.
Q: What is the difference between an insurgent and a freedom fighter?
A: The point of view of the observer.
By the standards used by the US gov't our own troops in the American Revolution would have been classified terrorists, insurgents and guerillas.
If the troops of another nation were occupying our country, and their soldiers were marching through our streets and neighborhoods, putting up roadblocks, telling us how and where and when we can travel and be on the streets, dictating to us what kind of a government we can have, attacking us without any provocation, when we have done absolutely nothing to warrant being attacked, how would YOU feel?
What would you do to defend your home and family, your hood, your town, your country, your people, your way of life, and your right of self-determination (look it up)?
If you lack the ability to imagine what it would be like to turn the tables and put yourself in another's position, you lack empathy, and you are not fit to take part in civilization at all. You are no better than an animal, with no morals or ethics, and no ability to discern right from wrong, good from evil.
Our troops are being used for Imperialist reasons, not for defense. That is blatant misuse of our brave young men and women, those of noble ideals. If you actually supported our troops they would never have been sent overseas to begin with. And if you supported them now you would do everything you can to see that they are brought home safe with not one more single shot fired. - Mavital, on 07/25/2008, -9/+0Q: What is the difference between an insurgent and a freedom fighter?
A: The point of view of the observer and a religion that convinces young, impressionable people that they will become "martyrs" if they strap explosives to themselves and murder innocent civilians.
Fixed. - tellahoohooo, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6@TrthS33Kr : you are right, there is no empathy from the US. Ya we see a few pictures or video's of our soldiers playing with Iraq kids and it warms are hearts. But these are only meant to hide the atrocities of death and destruction we've laid to waste in the background.
@mavital : You think our military hasn't killed civilians, blew up entire blocks of civilian homes because a insurgent or freedom fighter might be in one of them? Give me a break, at least they are doing it for an ideal, we're just senselessly murdering civilians. Get off your High horse.
This war is nothing to cheer about, unless your like one of these idiot soldiers. You do realize that army recruiters sought after the stupidest people they can find, promised them the world, then shipped them to Iraq. I'm not talking about the people from west point, I'm talking about the guy that drove to the mall to get taco bell and a video game and wound up signing away his life to the US Military. I know both kinds, one even signed up during war times, NOT THINKING HE WOULD HAVE TO GO TO WAR. So do I support him, no, do i want to see him dead, no, do i want to see any person dead, Iraqi or American or foreign soldier,no. I want the killing to stop, and that doesn't happen until idiots like you realize that these people demoralize life itself by not standing up and saying ***** no. Most of these gun toting morons number one question is "Will I get to kill someone". This gives you an idea of what our soldiers are like. Then they have in tow Christianity as their religious backbone, which I'm pretty sure has the motto of 'turn the other cheek'.
- sk11, on 07/24/2008, -9/+27Americans would do well do realise that extreme nationalism, such as this, isn't far away from the extreme religiousness that drove the 9/11 bombers.
- Gizzmo0411, on 07/25/2008, -11/+1You're cracked...Extreme nationalism is incomparable to forceible indoctrination into a religion. At least we're CHOOSING to be nationalistic. People born in to societies like the former Iraq regime and the majority of other muslim nations don't really get much of a choice.
Choice A) Be a Muslim...live a Muslim life.
Choice B) Be something else...live in secret and fear.
I don't know man...sort of a weak comparison there. - sk11, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6It certainly is not a weak comparison. However you find nationalism in America, what I said stands true, extreme theological fervour isn't any more or less dangerous than extreme nationalist fervour.
There are muslims brought up in England in very moderate muslim families, who CHOOSE islamic extremism. It's not like they were forcefully indoctrinated since birth. Just look at the London bombers for instance. It is well known that many first and second generation British muslims, with all the comparative freedom that British society brings, tend to be more religious than older generations.
- sinoth, on 07/25/2008, -8/+13This ignorant dribble pisses me off. It is NOT patriotic to blindly support our troops no matter what they are doing. They are fighting in a war we shouldn't be waging, and as such should not receive support. If you had a brother that stole from people, would you support this behavior just because he is your brother? I hope not! You'd do your best to correct this harmful, antisocial behavior. Why should our troops be treated any different?
One way to "support our troops" would be to help bring them home. I'm 100% for that kind of support. The public doesn't want war, the troops don't want war, so why are we still there? Bring our troops home, please. - Mavital, on 07/25/2008, -10/+2Wow. Since when did "100% support" of our troops mean saying "it's okay to steal". I'm pretty sure that most people mean they support the men and women of the armed forces as it is not their personal choice where they are deployed. If they joined to serve their country, they cannot pick which war they want to go to.
Use some common sense. I don't think anyone ever said "Yeah I 100% support my troops, even the ones raping and murdering". I'm amazed at some of the logic on Digg.- sinoth, on 07/25/2008, -0/+7What's sad though, Mavital, is that the majority of our troops are there because they were tricked in some way. The military pays well. It has a lot of good benefits, especially for the family of someone in the service. But new recruits are hardly given full disclosure, and are pretty often flat out lied to. So they choose poorly, suffer for it (by being forced into an illegal war), and we have to support their bad decision. The whole cycle repeats, to the extent that we could ALWAYS be in a war, somewhere, even though nobody wants war, and we have to support our troops because they are being tricked into going over there. We support the war because it exists. Not a good situation.
And what is this about not picking where they want to go? Anyone joining the military in the last 4 years knows EXACTLY what they will be doing, and yet we still use the tired argument of "well they don't choose where they go". That is just one of the many knee-jerk responses we're conditioned to use when someone acts un-patriotic.

- louiebaur, on 07/23/2008, -10/+7I back that up with 2 more brilliants!
- swrostmore, on 07/24/2008, -36/+177Why not a little truth in advertising next time? A little more accuracy in the title?
"Insurgent Killing Compilation - A little Warthog, M1A1, F16 and other killing machinery doing what they do best....killing"
Or is it not so much fun that way? Too real to enjoy some vicarious bloodshed? Our adolescent TV junkie generation thinks killing is "kick-ass" as they watch the war broadcast from a safe distance. If these kids are old enough to vote, we're all *****. Now bury me for harshing your violence-buzz.- sfaiku, on 07/24/2008, -63/+9If you have something against dead muslims then don't look. Show a bit of tolerance.
- InfamousAtheist, on 07/24/2008, -5/+29Show a bit of tolerance? You enjoy looking at dead muslims, and are requesting tolerance?
Wow... - supertom, on 07/24/2008, -4/+24Everyone ignore this person, he is a moron.
- quaxon, on 07/25/2008, -5/+2Id personally rather see dead christians and american troops, you know the ones who are the actual terrorists die.
- sfaiku, on 07/25/2008, -3/+0Oh really... for the slower ppl: /sarc
- mtvkilledusall, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2There is a difference between people being "slow" and you not being funny. Or are you just too slow to realize that?
- InfamousAtheist, on 07/24/2008, -5/+29Show a bit of tolerance? You enjoy looking at dead muslims, and are requesting tolerance?
- KidKenosha, on 07/24/2008, -7/+49Well said.
It's only "awesome" watching a house that's ostensibly full of "insurgents" vanish into a mushroom cloud when you don't have to sift through the rubble and body parts, smell the burnt flesh, or listen to the wailing of their friends and family.
Death in war is a tragedy, not entertainment, regardless of who is doing the killing. This is just as ghoulish and sickening as the videos of "Allahu Akhbar"-chanting Iraqi snipers picking off U.S. soldiers on the streets of Fallujah and Baghdad.- quaxon, on 07/25/2008, -5/+7I disagree, atleast the iraqi snipers are fighting to take their country back, they never wanted a war and wouldnt be sniping american soldiers if those jarheads never signed up to go kill them. What they are doing is admirable, but what US troops are doing is a disgrace.
- h3lx, on 07/25/2008, -2/+5quaxon,
Disgraceful as it is, to rest the responsibility upon the soldiers is a little misdirected. The American People were, are willing antagonist in this war. We are more to blame than any individual "troop".
The Troops are merely an extension of the will of the American People. Why we went to war in the first place is a disgrace, the fact that we're still at war 7 or so years is a disgrace. Ignorant to politics grunts didn't cause this war, they don't want this war, and the manufactured justifications for keeping us at war are not theirs.
2 cents - DemonWasp, on 07/25/2008, -3/+2To blame the American soldiers is a bit much (after all, they're forced to be there, they don't have a choice).
I'd be happier watching Iraqi snipers pick off anyone who voted to go to war. - WebCester, on 07/26/2008, -0/+3@DemonWasp
Nobody forced them to sign up. Most of them signed up when the US was already at war. They knew exactly what they were getting into.
- DeathWish808, on 07/24/2008, -33/+13They're doing alot worse things to us and others over there. Their videos show much more heinous, violent and torturous acts than this, but I guess that's ok.... War is and will always be a part of life. This was meant in no way to glorify killing or war, but only to salute the people that risk their lives to keep your ass safe.
- swrostmore, on 07/24/2008, -5/+40***** son, this was meant to glorify killing and you just don't have the balls to admit it. That's why you describe it as "ass kicking" and dub ***** rock music over it. At least Haji takes his death porn seriously, whereas to you and the rest of the brainwashed nationalist dittohead scum, it's good clean American entertainment. God forbid you are ever forced to acknowledge the consequences of the violence you glorify.
- Waiting2awake, on 07/24/2008, -8/+20Please, what is Iraq helping America stay safe? How is Iran any threat to the US? How are all those American soldiers and bases all over the world contributing to security in America?
Answer is they aren't - but that is the doublespeak used to get people to support the unsupportable.
Understand what you dish out, invariably will come back to you. - sk11, on 07/24/2008, -1/+17So we should become just as sick minded as them?
- DeathWish808, on 07/24/2008, -18/+4Those are the kinds of comments that come from people that only look at things one way.
- joelbranstein, on 07/25/2008, -1/+12DW, just because the insurgents are showing even more heinous vids is no reason to champion this one. That's shows a severe lack of intelligence or ability to think independently. That's a good sign that you're cut out for military service and then a future in law enforcement.
Never mind the fact that we invaded their country with no cause which is illegal and is why Pres. Bush Jr. is a war criminal. Also never mind the fact that we stationed troops in Saudi Arabia during the Clinton administration which is why the Clintons are also culpable.
The real evil in all this is the fact that it's the major corporations in this country buy and sell our nation's government and use it to protect American interests in foreign oil instead of working hard to get us on to an energy policy that is sustainable. That's because they are more concerned with making billions of dollars now to buy yachts and huge mansions then with the welfare of our nation and it's citizens.
If you take a moment to study the history of our involvement since the 50's (really since the 20's) in the middle east, you might find a broader view of the issue at hand and think twice about celebrating the war being waged in Iraq.
By putting up this video, and they defending it by stating how their vids are even worse, you've demonstrated how you've fallen into a common trap of war (and gang warfare in the inner cities of the US) called "blood-feud". There is no end to the death and suffering and this is a war that will never be won - it will simply continue. - ljw5021, on 07/25/2008, -16/+3Pictured in these comments: ungrateful hippies.
- PhilliesBlunt, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6The ***** are they ungrateful about?
- RobotCitizen, on 07/26/2008, -0/+2"This was meant in no way to glorify killing"
Says the guy named Deathwish.
- joelbranstein, on 07/25/2008, -4/+14I'm sure the insurgent forces will celebrate over "deathwish808"'s corpse and share the vid when he gets put in a body bag. This kind of thing being shown as entertainment is why the human race will always be just a bunch of monkeys using technology.
It's hard to support our troops when so many appear to be a bunch of sociopaths let loose to do all the things we have laws to prevent in our own country. Let's see what fruit that yields in the years after they return and don't have anyone to frag. Ask some other vets of serious wars like WWII and Vietnam. The world will always be able to go to war since we will always have young men who lack the life experience to understand the ramifications of their actions until decades after they've committed the acts.
And yes it's scary that the people praising this vid are most likely eligible to vote. The only good thing to note is the most of them are too stupid and apathetic to make it out on voting day anyway.
Enjoy the carnage and lack of respect for human life lost in an illegal war that never should have been waged you bunch of morons.- bratterscain, on 07/25/2008, -4/+1Some people don't really care much for the human race because it is sometimes an ***** even for purposes of peace and makes them reconsider the worth of human life. Even the ones fighting for "peace" as yourself sometimes call the human race names like that as well as the people who support the troops. You're trying to bring people together but when you implement it in your way, it mostly repels others and makes them want to spite your ways. These men and women fighting may not see it in your way and ours but it is not entirely their fault. You could educate people but even you and others who are against the war get carried away sometimes and so much, you actually have the opposite effect. It's like the Vietnam protesters who stirred up so much chaos while fighting for tranquility, it didn't really help their cause.
- ljw5021, on 07/25/2008, -19/+4What are you, gay?
- denizen42, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5No, what are you, a ***** lizard?
- mike17032, on 07/25/2008, -20/+3Well one would asssume even libtard pussies understand what the point of these weapons is. Maybe we can draw you an even better road map next time.
- quaxon, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Lol the biggest pussies of them all are those jarheads in the video killing people from thousands of feet away, dont even have the balls to do it face to face. And im pretty sure those jarheads pussies arent very liberal or hippyish.
- Haroshia, on 07/25/2008, -4/+12Cause I need to watch things die

- SirTheGuy, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6I fully agree.
Going to war is bad, but sometimes necessary. Showing what happens in war to let people know THIS is how it is can also be necessary. Showing people die for entertainment and laughing about it? That's wrong.
It's one thing when it's on TV or in games and not real, no one dies, etc. It's another thing when it's real people out there getting body parts blown off. I found this to be terribly disgusting and highly offensive. - weech, on 07/25/2008, -3/+1America, ***** YA! Coming again, to saving the ***** day now--America, ***** YA! - bulletmoy, on 07/26/2008, -1/+2What it looks like to me is a bunch of red neck hill-billy's wasting our tax dollars, to get there adrenalin fix for the day. If you really enjoy watching these people die while you sit comfortable in your computer chair at home , you are ***** up in the head, and deserve one of those bombs to land on your sorry ass. This is a war based on lies and should never be glorified like this, you sick bastards.

- akeldama, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5It's good to know that slavery was only ever practiced by the United States. Thank you for the enlightenment cambob76.
- zaptoman, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3And which country are you from Cambob? Chances are it practiced slavery, but maybe it wasn't so picky what color the slaves were.
- Dr00pieS, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Ahhh, the keyboard humanitarian.
Why don't you go suck off Bono or something. - Larsonal777, on 07/26/2008, -1/+1LOL... "America's history is lame"... haha that gave me a chuckle... seriously if you're gonna make that comment you at least have to say where you're from in you're profile so we can make a little bit of a comparison.
On another note... lets bring up the slavery bit one more time... yeah because we all know THAT is the majority of America's history as we know it.
Oh and @zaptoman... America wasn't picky about the color of slaves until the 18th century.
- mike17032, on 07/25/2008, -9/+2Did you bother to watch the movie?
True to their style, they made fun of EVERYONE in the movie. Terrorist, Patriots, and Liberal pussies.- nickbertovich, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4They even included meathead ***** like you.

- u8muhrice, on 07/24/2008, -45/+31You cannot deny the fact that there is something fascinating about guns and explosions that just put you in awe
- sk11, on 07/24/2008, -11/+20In fiction: yes, in reality: no. It's not awesome when a real person gets ripped to pieces, regardless of the sexual rise some Americans seem to get from it.
- h4k0r, on 07/25/2008, -11/+4Sexual rise? ***** you. He was simply saying guns and explosions are cool to see, not people dying in a hail of gun fire and massive explosion. Pull you head out of your ass next time before you type in your comment.
- cyrix, on 07/25/2008, -7/+1I'm American, I don't get a sexual rise from this.
***** you and you're pathetic attempts to lump us all together *****. - Kythas, on 07/25/2008, -6/+4@sk11: Well spoken as someone who, I assume, has never had a shot fired at them in anger.
As someone who's been in combat, I can testify that it is pretty awesome when the people who are trying to kill you and your friends are themselves killed and you survive. Anyone who's ever been in a life or death situation can, I think, agree on that. There's a certain satisfaction in knowing you've survived the ultimate human test. - sk11, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4@h4k0r: and again I reiterate; in fiction: fine, in reality: no.
@cyrix: note the term 'some Americans' you ***** idiot.
@Kythas: Do you think most of the idiots watching this at home on their computers are under combat situations? Obviously surviving feels good, BUT that is NOT what this video is about. Take your pathetic strawman elsewhere. - nickbertovich, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2@Kythas: I know what you mean. It happens to be all the time in Counter-Strike.
- sk11, on 07/24/2008, -11/+20In fiction: yes, in reality: no. It's not awesome when a real person gets ripped to pieces, regardless of the sexual rise some Americans seem to get from it.

- vipertech, on 07/25/2008, -4/+0Where do you get these numbers?

- sinator, on 07/24/2008, -17/+16The large majority of the insurgents currently in Iraq are outsiders that have come there for the simple goal of killing Americans. They are certainly not fighting for Iraqi freedom, especially considering their willingness to slay Iraqi civilians if it means the possibility of harming an American.
Of course you are correct that the soldiers are just as much outsiders, but they are only doing what they've been told to do. The insurgents are happy to kill us because they truly believe it is the right thing to do, no matter the cost.- spinladen, on 07/25/2008, -5/+9So I guess all the people going to Afghanistan in the 80's were not there helping them win their freedom from Russia either? - roystgnr, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5The large majority are outsiders? When did this happen, and how do you know? The only reports I could find (from the end of 2005) estimated 4 to 10 percent of guerrillas in Iraq were foreigners.

- 1gunners4, on 07/25/2008, -4/+7I completely agree with you that war and death should not be glorified, but I do take umbrage with the term "Freedom Fighters" in regards to most of the Iraqi insurgents; these are not freedom loving people fighting against an occupier that they think will take away their ability to choose, these are, for the most part, extremist groups that follow the Shariah law and are extraordinarily oppressive to anyone with a different religious affiliation, gender, or sexuality. A lot of the more centrist groups now work with the US (1920s Revolution Brigade) after rejecting AQI's tactics. Moreover, JAM had the citizens of Al Basrah in complete terror while they held the city, raping and killing women for doing something as simple as wearing jeans.
So, yeah, I understand your point, but let's be real: we shouldn't all sit around going "***** YEAH!" to these videos, but we aren't exactly fighting "Freedom Fighers," either.- akeldama, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5How dare you try to introduce logic and facts into a Digg comment thread!

- flavioribeiro, on 07/24/2008, -43/+121You idiots have to GROW UP.
The United States has hundreds of thousands of servicemen overseas invading foreign countries and killing civilians. This isn't just about Iraq -- it has been going on for DECADES. The unconditional "support the troops" mantra is *****. It's a cop out designed for people who don't want to acknowledge that they're indirectly financing EVIL.
Stop this idolatry and START THINKING.- plundstedt, on 07/24/2008, -28/+3So it's good when American troops die?
- thestranger, on 07/24/2008, -6/+30No. That's not what they said.
It's bad when any HUMAN BEING dies unjustly and without reason.
Unconditional support troops is total *****. - flavioribeiro, on 07/24/2008, -6/+32Stop pretending that American lives are more valuable than Iraqi lives.
- DeathWish808, on 07/24/2008, -18/+1@thestranger
Exactly! So if we don't support our own then who will? Yes, it goes alot deeper than that and every countries' military has corruption just like the governments themselves do. Based on that we should just turn our shoulders on our own people? Don't think so. - flavioribeiro, on 07/24/2008, -6/+26@DeathWish
If you want to support the troops, get them out of illegal wars and occupations.
Right now they're serving as mercenaries to a powerful few, and you're paying the bill. - DeathWish808, on 07/24/2008, -12/+3@flavioribeiro
If I could I would, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Just like the soldiers in places where they shouldn't and probably don't wanna be and noone knows about it except them and a few people in the government. You think they signed up and went through boot camp, etc. to do things like that? They're put between a rock and a hard place. Nothing about anything any military force in the world is doing is black and white. It's all very complicated and anyone that thinks they have the answer in one comment is kidding themselves. That's directed at any comment on here including my own. - Chairboy, on 07/25/2008, -11/+4@flavioribeiro That's a strawman argument, and you expose your dishonesty by using it. Nobody is saying that American lives are more valuable than Iraqi. War isn't measured in terms of the 'value of one life over another', it's a projection of force, the last stage of diplomacy when all else fails.
You've judged the actions of the American troops as evil in your post. Do you endorse the actions of the people they're fighting who have killed civilians, decapitated hostages, etc? Or did you selectively fail to mention them for a reason?
- thestranger, on 07/24/2008, -6/+30No. That's not what they said.

GROW UP DECADES ***** EVIL START THINKING. - Snuff99, on 07/25/2008, -11/+6"it has been going on for DECADES"
Try centuries bub. Then explain your exact plan to change human nature. Our troops are our family members, most of them are not there to kill, they believe they are protecting their homeland. That belief is obviously debatable but the troops in foreign countries that believe they are helping those less fortunate are the ones I'll support unconditionally. If you think you can change war, what humans have done since one human knew the other existed, you are delusional. - serif69, on 07/25/2008, -14/+9I'm sorry, but I'm indirectly financing people who are killing EVIL. Evil is specifically looking to murder people because they don't follow your religious beliefs, regardless of who else dies in the process. Evil is using women and children as human shields to protect yourself from weapons. Evil is using cowardly tactics to maim people who are attempting to lead humanitarian efforts.
You said it yourself: "It's bad when any HUMAN BEING dies unjustly and without reason." Well, there are HUMAN BEINGS who are being targeted by outside insurgent militias unjustly, with the only reason that they feel the effort to rebuild Iraq is an affront to their decidedly-not-Iraqi culture.
The coalition forces in Iraq right now are fighting with other outside forces; helping to train the Iraqi military and police forces so that they might be able to fight the outside forces on their own; leading humanitarian efforts to build and rebuild houses, schools, mosques, and infrastructure; and helping the refugee Iraqi people get back to their homes.
Now, you tell me, who is the evil force at work here? Is it those who are helping the Iraqi people, or those who feel it is their religious duty to prevent people from helping the Iraqi people?- akeldama, on 07/25/2008, -2/+3This being Digg, I know exactly why you are being buried, but you get a thumbs up from me.

Please go back to fapping to the Glamour mag in your mom's bathroom, and leave the real world to the adults. - jstancom, on 07/25/2008, -13/+0In war people die. Get over it. Going out of our way to ensure that no civilians die impedes the war efforts and puts our soldiers at risk. The death of civilians is inevitable.
Where were the outcries during World War II when we carpetbombed entire cities to destroy a few factories? We bombed the hell out of Dresden and killed hundreds of thousands of civilians.
Where was the outcry then? Innocent people must die in order for us to achieve our goals. The military when fighting an enemy must have goals and objectives, and innocents die along the way. That's just how it is and how its always been.- vipertech, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0PPL need to read up on the LOAC.
- Hockey13, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5There was significant outcry then, and your reasoning is nonsense. Just because the US won the war does not mean everything the US did in order to win the war was absolutely necessary. Post hoc ergo propter hoc.
The German part of my family is from a small suburb of Bruchsal that was heavily bombarded just weeks before the Allies marched on the town. The Nazis had already departed and the all-important train station was barely operational. Despite this, the Allies killed 1,000 people and an historic baroque castle with their bombs in a city of barely 20,000.
I am not saying this is necessarily a "bad" thing, as I don't really believe in this sort of thing in a greater historical context, but to say "the death of civilians is inevitable" seems to flippantly dismiss a very real aspect of war, especially considering very few truly begin to understand a war's true scope under after the thing happens.
Pacifism is a good thing, folks. - jstancom, on 07/25/2008, -2/+0For the people digging me down, I'm not saying these deaths aren't bad. They are horrible, and that's why I think the Bush Administration's reckless use of war as a means of foreign policy has made the public more inclined to use war than to use diplomacy and other means of negotiation.
War is horrible. It is the ultimate act of evil. People's sons, daughters, fathers, and sons die. There is nothing to be celebrated, but you cannot pretend that the horrors of war do not exist in these times. They exist as they have throughout history.
War should be a last resort and leaders should always be reminded of the costs before they choose to use it. - jstancom, on 07/25/2008, -2/+0Also, Hockey13, I believe pacifism to be dangerous and submissive.
Without war, slavery and facism would still probably be rampant, and America as a sovereign nation wouldn't exist.
There are things worth fighting for, worth giving your life for, worth the risk. Pacifism is submitting to aggressors, and is just as evil.
Evil prevails when good men do nothing.
- paulielatex, on 07/25/2008, -8/+1***** you flavioribeiro you dumb *****

- jstancom, on 07/25/2008, -2/+1How about you start thinking rationally. When you go to war with someone, people die. You use big guns and weapons systems to kill people. Innocent people live in the areas we are fighting. As a consequence, innocent people die.
You think our troops WANT to kill civilians? You think the Bush Administration intentionally WANTS to kill civilians as policy? I am not defending their actions or decisions. I think Iraq is a horrible mistake and the deaths of the Iraqi civilians are abominable.
But during war, the military has objectives. The military is a machine of destruction, and the military has increasingly gone out of its way to ensure that civilian deaths are kept to a minimum. But they do happen as a consequence of military actions. Yes, we should never have gone there in the first place.
But don't pin the civilian deaths on the people out in the field. Going out of their way to protect civilians puts them at risk, and they still do it. Blame the policy makers.
- jstancom, on 07/25/2008, -2/+1How about you start thinking rationally. When you go to war with someone, people die. You use big guns and weapons systems to kill people. Innocent people live in the areas we are fighting. As a consequence, innocent people die.

A simple google search should help you out in your quest for knowledge. Unless you were just seeking a witty (or not so witty) reply, in which case, you've already accomplished your goal. - DestroyFascism, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1"facts" in Iraq?
- jstancom, on 07/25/2008, -3/+1Freedom to cause terror and murder against innocent people.
While many insurgents are fighting because they believe America to be occupiers, don't forget that al-Qaeda has come into the mix as well. While they are mostly gone, they still bombed and rocketed civilian targets including mosques in Baghdad to incite violence.
I have no problem with the wholesale complete killing of members of al-Qaeda. They are not freedom fighters. They are murderers and terrorists that stand for evil. Bin Laden even thinks sports and music and the arts are "evil."
I hope that 500 pound bomb or whatever it was killed as many al-Qaeda members as possible. - CosmicJustice, on 07/25/2008, -4/+1Nope. Not at all. Doesn't work that way. They are the enemy. The quickest way to end a war is to kill the enemy, defeat them, destroy their will to fight. Then you have peace. If nobody wins the war goes on forever.

- quaxon, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4It's because to be pro-american is to be an idiot. If you are not ignorant about the things the US troops as well as the US government do and have been doing for the past century then there is no way you can support america unless you are a heartless bastard.

I wonder how you would feel about these videos if these insurgents had beaten and raped YOUR mother or sister? Or planted a bomb on your street that blew off your neighbor's foot?
You all act like peace will solve everything. I've got news for you. The enemy is REAL, and given the chance, he'd just as quickly set off an IED in your quiet little cul-de-sac.- santiago1, on 07/25/2008, -13/+2 Amen, my Brother, amen

They didn't

Maybe if we didn't invade their country, kill multitudes of their citizens, destroy their infrastructure, allow the entire place to be looted to the bare walls and setup an occupation for the foreseeable future, they wouldn't want to.- zaptoman, on 07/25/2008, -11/+2"Maybe if we didn't invade their country, kill multitudes of their citizens, destroy their infrastructure, allow the entire place to be looted to the bare walls and setup an occupation for the foreseeable future, they wouldn't want to."
Not true. You don't know the nature of the enemy we are fighting, and the sad part is, when you do realize it, it will be too late.
- zaptoman, on 07/25/2008, -11/+2"Maybe if we didn't invade their country, kill multitudes of their citizens, destroy their infrastructure, allow the entire place to be looted to the bare walls and setup an occupation for the foreseeable future, they wouldn't want to."
- kidathinnes, on 07/25/2008, -3/+2Just because I am against war doesn't mean I can't accept it as a reality. I know why we kill these people. I know these people would kill me given the chance. I still have the right to believe there are other ways to solve things than killing. Some people believe "bomb the ***** out them" should be the very last resort. In this case, we had a problem with countries, so we kill.
- SirReally, on 07/25/2008, -2/+7If my mother, sister or neighbour got beaten, raped or their foot blown off by one of those "insurgents", I'd say, "it serves you right, what the ***** were you doing in Iraq?"
Moron.- vipertech, on 07/25/2008, -2/+0So the people who live in Iraq right now are at fault for being there?
- SirReally, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1No, of course not - I was merely trying to point out how ridiculous his point was.

Thats funny because this actually does happen a lot in Iraq, only its not the "insurgents" being the aggressors, it's the US troops who are committing all these atrocities you just mentioned, the troops are the real insurgents.
- MMaster23, on 07/25/2008, -14/+25war isn't cool .. you ***** warmongering fratboys.. you aren't real Americans...
- TrevorBelmont, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4I agree that war isn't cool but I'm not gonna sit hear and listen to anyone tell someone that they're not "real Americans". It's childish, divisive and off point. That's the kind of tactic the people you likely oppose use.
Next you'll be telling me to wear a flag pin. - jstancom, on 07/25/2008, -5/+0War is sometimes good you idiot you hippie. The United States cannot stand by while the world goes to hell. We have a responsibility.
The Revolutionary War - freed America from the British
Civil War - ended slavery in America
World War II - ended facism and our intervention ended the Holocaust
Afghan/Soviet War - US funds Afghans to bring down the Soviet Union to collapse
Gulf War I - removed Iraqi military from Kuwait
Kosovo Conflict - Stopped ethnic cleansing against Albanian muslims by the Serbs- MMaster23, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Next thing you're going to tell me is that de Vietnam war was OK too....
- jstancom, on 07/25/2008, -2/+0Vietnam was originally intended to stop the spread of communism, like the Korean War. It was sound in completely abstract terms, but look how they turned out.
Not all war is good. Wars where people fight against tyranny and seek their freedom are good wars. Wars of aggression are not just. Wars where good seeks the destruction of evil are good.
If we we isolationist in the 20th century we would have been left out in the cold. FDR knew that if we didn't go into Europe in WW2 that the Russians would have taken all of Europe and our economy would have gone under even more. Plus, its hard telling how much farther the Holocaust would have gone on if we didn't intercede. - TrevorBelmont, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Correction:
War is ALWAYS bad but on occasion, necessary. - jbella, on 07/26/2008, -0/+2Okay... so maybe you can clearly and rationally tell me why we have spent close to a trillion dollars and 4000 American lives invading and occupying a country that:
1) Did not attack us.
2) Had not even the smallest connection to the 9/11 attacks
3) Had no WMDs
Meanwhile... the guy who did plan the 9/11 attacks, and the USS cole attack, and embassy bombings is still out there making videos.
No matter what your political leanings are you just have to wonder WTF?

*strums banjo* - Rustiga, on 07/25/2008, -10/+0It's the cool thing to do to take the moral high ground. It's a give and take kind of situation, the realists who know that war is a requirement to peace, and support/take pride in their military, and the people who find it abhorrent. The latter don't realize how good they have it, with their college educations, luxury vehicle, iphones, the works, it's really easy to sit back and criticize everything, but I doubt anyone done anything besides at the most signing some stupid petition to impeach the least popular president of all time.
Just sit back and be thankful the ***** you see in this video are working for you, not against you.- Virgule, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4Making for war for peace is like screwing for virginity. It does not work.
