- Hegemony, on 07/16/2008, -1/+7Wow... for an intellectual to lose something like that is terrible. Hopefully he can come back from it despite his advanced years.
- pauliusuza, on 07/16/2008, -1/+6For me nothing could be worse than to loose part my mind and to understand it. I hope he'll recover.
- lucy22, on 07/15/2008, -2/+7Amazing story.
- clarient, on 07/16/2008, -1/+5Head injuries are brutal. My dad was an engineer and after he got into a motorcycle accident, he was never the same. It's hard to watch somebody struggle to deal with the world when they are used to operating on a much higher level.
Hopefully this guy can regain most of the things he lost. - simasays, on 07/16/2008, -1/+4Reminds me of the time I visited a nursing center dedicated to helping people recover from brain injuries. Totally brutal. I've been a loyal helmet-wearer when I cycle ever since.
- snullbug, on 07/16/2008, -1/+3"Papert has a devoted group of caregivers working around the clock, including nurses, a physical trainer, and a speech therapist. The services cost $15,000 a month, Massie said, and since Papert has used up his Medicare and Blue Cross benefits, she was forced to launch a Seymour Papert Recovery Fund, which has generated donations from colleagues and friends all over the world, as well as the Lego company. She said MIT has refused to help pay for his home care, although it did cover his emergency evacuation from Hanoi."
Are you ***** me? MIT should get him the best care money can buy. He put MIT on the map in the arena of early childhood education. - judiTaylor, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1touching, wish him all the best.
- Liam, on 07/16/2008, -1/+2Reminds me of the story of L.D. Landau http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lev_Landau, brilliant physicist who was in a car accident in 1962 and never fully recovered.
- RaulMuadDib, on 07/16/2008, -1/+1What, Kimmel and Sarah Silverman have broke up?
- TheoBloom, on 07/17/2008, -0/+0My heart fell when I read "invited to Vietnam".
