They didn't like his other material and he was surprised that "Crank that" got so big. It all boils down to marketing and promotion.
leethemanpowell, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2Although I agree with Ice T about soulja boy, this "hip-hop is dead" thing has gone too far. Anytime a song comes out that is clearly made for white youths, every old-time hardcore rapper comes out of the woodwork and makes the tried and true comment: "it wasn't like that in my day..." Things change, even for the worse, if you don't like it don't listen to it, and if you have that much of a problem with it make a new cd that doesn't suck or consist of a greatest hits collection. He is old enough to be soulja boy's dad, I'm sure people that were old enough to be Ice T's parents hated his music and thought his samples of Curtis Mayfield killed the song.
