- bixby1, on 01/03/2009, -23/+315Half of me feels really bad for this girl. She's obviously going thru a rough patch. The other half of me is laughing my ass off at the utter stupidity this must take.
- gcacho, on 01/03/2009, -10/+282List of people never to drunk dial.
1. Cops
2. Parents
3. Girlfriend
Yes, this is the worst case of drunk dialing ever. - AmyVernon, on 01/03/2009, -7/+254That's actually really sad. At least she called the cops before she ended up hurting herself or anyone else.
- frogman54, on 01/03/2009, -2/+174Well, it was either that or drunk dial her ex-boyfriend Steve. Steve is a real jerk. Her calling the police, like, totally saved her a bunch of drama. For real.
- LordSturm, on 01/03/2009, -2/+139You forgot boss...
- pbuschma, on 01/03/2009, -2/+100and investors..
- LukeBeaumont, on 01/03/2009, -3/+984. Anyone
- indubitably, on 01/03/2009, -3/+79i swear to drunk i'm not god.
- ozroy, on 01/03/2009, -1/+76Good on her I say. She knew she couldn't control herself so she did the most responsible thing she could.
If only more people behaved like her. - inactive, on 01/03/2009, -5/+80She's seventeen, not seven.
- justrasputin, on 01/03/2009, -4/+79If the girl had to make a cry for help, better this way than by attempted suicide, which others might do. On the other hand, ideally she would say "I'm going to stop drinking" and then stop.
- jakash, on 01/03/2009, -14/+88332 friends? 103,000 diggs in 724 days? ***** you Burento.
- Swellin, on 01/03/2009, -3/+69She called the cops for help, they should not have arrested her put should have taken her to the hospital for a psych evaluation obviously this was a plea for help re: article. Hopefully the cops did take her there.
- inactive, on 01/03/2009, -19/+84At least she was underage so it won't greatly affect her record. Where the hell were her parents?
- techguru2006, on 01/03/2009, -14/+72Officer I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
- linagee, on 01/03/2009, -1/+59Wrong. Taxi might have been better than 911. (Especially if they know your address beforehand.)
- doublefelix, on 01/03/2009, -5/+55She's honest to a fault.
- illu45, on 01/03/2009, -1/+47The Enter key
Don't use it
So much - RealityRebel, on 01/03/2009, -1/+39Some haikus are fun
But others are just plain weird
Refrigerator. - alexkreuz, on 01/03/2009, -3/+39Smartest thing she could have done. Not being sarcastic here.
Now she's on record for wanting help and can't back away from it anymore since I'm sure her entire neighborhood knows. - PhrosTT, on 01/03/2009, -0/+35you guys realize we've created a self fulfilling prophecy..
1. we bitch only power users make front page
2. we don't bother submitting anymore
3. only power users make front page - inactive, on 01/03/2009, -6/+40shes drunk. no wonder..
- peaceninja, on 01/03/2009, -2/+36what seems to be the officer, problem?
- fredrockbluff, on 01/03/2009, -0/+31your poem is
like a paper bag
filled with feces
on fire on
my doorstep - sirbeta, on 01/03/2009, -0/+26Seventeen is too old for Pedobear, I think.
- Colodia, on 01/03/2009, -2/+26I'm glad to be reading this than to be reading about how another drunk teen kills an innocent person. Yeah, she's one case versus, what, tens of thousands? Hundreds of thousands, maybe? It's still nice.
- EvilFerret, on 01/03/2009, -0/+23Definitely just sounds like a cry for help. Most likely she was too scared/embarrassed to approach her parents with her problems and decided this would be a good way to kick start things. Releasing her to her parents was the best possible action they could take.
- darlingt, on 01/03/2009, -2/+24But, Occifer, I only had tee martoonis!
- Cheesasaurus, on 01/03/2009, -0/+21@rudegar
Is that supposed to be a poem or something? Why all the random breaks? - Ansem, on 01/03/2009, -5/+26Was she hot? That's all I was really interested in from the beginning.
- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -4/+25Kind of reminds me of the girl that kidnapped herself and called the cops to set off an "Amber alert".
- lazybuoy, on 01/03/2009, -4/+24There should be a clemency law for when someone reports their own drunken driving.
- algaeturd, on 01/03/2009, -1/+21She didn't even get ***** charged for it. How was it a mistake? She actually did the grown-up thing as far as responsibility is concerned.
Not that I expect digg users to actually realize 'grown-up' things but you know what I mean. - MtheoryX, on 01/03/2009, -1/+20Not to be confused with responsibility, of course.
- Flashypoo, on 01/03/2009, -0/+17I imagined this
being read
by William Shatner. - supernovasky, on 01/03/2009, -0/+16Right...
Also, I REALLY think it is important that we applaud the police in this case. I don't say that often, but for anything to change, we've got to be just as willing to thank good policing as we are to condemn bad policing. - emalen, on 01/03/2009, -1/+16Math Fail.
103,000 / 724 = 142 - orngshus, on 01/03/2009, -5/+19Not true, at 17 I got wasted, broke into a house, and passed out on their couch. The cops came and I resisted arrest. I was subdued and taken to the station, where I spat on a cop. I got my head bashed into the concrete for that. In protest of how I was being treated, I got completely naked and refused to put on my clothes. Then my parents came to pick me up...
My charges were Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Alcohol Under the Age of 21, 3rd and 4th degree burglary. I am now 18, and after 50 hours working at Goodwill, and completing 3 drug classes, my record is clean. - mrgreenjeans, on 01/03/2009, -0/+14Dude, your parents know... especially when you somersault from the bed into the closet.
- nomadxx7, on 01/03/2009, -0/+14"where I spat on a cop"
See that's your problem right there. Next time if your naked throw ***** at em (like monkeys do). I heard that's the only way to make sure they don't bring any charges against you. - cddict1, on 01/03/2009, -1/+15spare her for being honest.
- Rudegar, on 01/03/2009, -3/+17if a kid is drunk and can't manage getting home without falling asleep in the snow
or get taken by a sexual predator
they should always call their parents
and their parents should be cool enough
about it so the kid would do it rather then die
or get hurt
at least thats how it works here - markperia, on 01/03/2009, -0/+13At least she has the right mind to know that what she's doing is wrong even if it is a couple of hours late. Better to call yourself out and admit it than continue on doing something stupid. Lets just be glad she didn't get into an accident and endangered somebody else's life.
- Swellin, on 01/03/2009, -4/+17Well cops don't need to just arrest people, Helping citizens is also part of their job, and when an underage girl calls saying she is driving drunk, and they show up and she is parked they should not arrest her for driving drunk. Instead they should take her to the hospital and have her mental health evaluated, prison or even arresting someone is for people who are breaking the law and hurting others, she is in pain and wanted help, the cops should have helped her not by putting her in cuffs, and throwing her in the back seat of their car, but by caring for her mental health and getting her psychological help instead, hopefully that's what happened and it was just not reported.
- adrenalmedulla9, on 01/03/2009, -1/+13No, you just confuse the ***** out of everyone!
- Duffy27, on 01/03/2009, -1/+13I'm glad she didn't get in loads of trouble, she's clearly not made to be a criminal
- ch4os1337, on 01/03/2009, -0/+11I am 17 and i'm legal, Canada FTW.
My friend has a pedobear hand knit beanie. - diggydougie, on 01/03/2009, -3/+14What's with all the calls to have her taken to a mental hospital? She's drunk that's all. She was not a danger to anyone or she would not have called 911 in the first place.
- lmbb20, on 01/03/2009, -1/+12"She was arrested for failing to have control of her vehicle while intoxicated."
So I guess it would have been legal for her to HAVE control of her vehicle while intoxicated? - seaofcheese, on 01/03/2009, -1/+11I live in the same town there were only 2 DUI arrests on new years this being one of them. Guess the cops got a freebe.
