these are bras specially made for use with bullet proof vests. the bra itself does not protect against anything - Mootabolife, on 08/05/2008, -0/+55Unless you count sagging.

[ps. remove the "/more" to read the article. Digg picked up extra characters in the URL] - lamiaconfitor, on 08/05/2008, -0/+10Somehow, I think having the metal underwire of your favorite bra inserted into your flesh would be a major setback, though.
- crownedgriffin, on 08/05/2008, -1/+8Bad title description, bad link URL, and amazingly stupid comments. Buried.
Try harder next time. - hollyminkowski, on 08/05/2008, -0/+7It's really hard to find a bra that fits just right and can be worn all day in comfort...most girls have just one favorite bra that they wish they could wear every day. The chance that these things will be comfortable is slim to none. Imagine being forced to wear a particular bra every day for the rest of your career. Just let the women find their own bras without underwires, metal clasps or plastic bits.
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -2/+8I like boobies.
- Nintendesert, on 08/05/2008, -2/+8Gotta protect the *****!
- jerryterhorst, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6the gun laws in germany are actually not that different from the ones in the US. you are allowed to carry them (sometimes even concealed, under special circumstances) as long as you have the permits and go through the hoops to get your license. its probably slightly harder with the notorious german bureaucracy than in the US, but its nothing like the UK, which you are probably thinking of.
all that aside, ive been in berlin for almost a year and ive only heard of one shooting that ended in a death (in berlin), and it was all over the news.. so take that for what you will. - Kas70, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5For one, they make half size shoes, but only some (one that I know of) manufacturer makes half size bras - but unfortunately not for all cup sizes so that doesn't help me any. Trying on shoes and trying on bras are worlds apart and take significantly different amounts of time. They also don't make odd number cup sizes, another problem for me. Bras are also expensive, the good ones, so 20 or 30 of them can make a significant dent in ones budget - and sometimes the good one you found was just a fluke and the others you buy don't fit the same. Sometimes a bra will fit great but look horrible in almost everything you own, such as prominent seams, wide straps, too much cleavage, not enough, too much bra vs. not enough, pretty vs. functional, t-shirt vs. blouses, swimsuit vs. sleep vs. exercise...
I could go on FOREVER, but yeah, you have NO IDEA... - adamjordanevans, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5Well my missus has got tamper resistant pants!! secure underwear... its the future!
- cobophers, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5Its just an excuse to get women in their underwear at gun-shows. Until now they had no reason. But then again there really isn't a reason at car show too. Hmm....the world must be flat.
- Dazer, on 08/05/2008, -1/+5Insonh, what a stupid comment. Most drugs are not allowed yet many citizens still manage to get their hands on them. The whole point of any gun law is to reduce the availability of guns, and make it harder to get access to them. It doesn't mean all guns entering the country will automatically break and fly away.
Please use some common sense. Thank you. - Gryffyd, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4Not a bullet proof bra, not mandatory to wear it. Buried.
- BooLag, on 04/23/2009, -1/+5You mean bulletproof BRO !!!
- djbarney, on 08/05/2008, -1/+5Zeee latest in fashion accessories ... Mr Bond. Because every Bond girl deserves to be well protected.
- Dozernotz, on 08/05/2008, -1/+5You know, I've often heard women complain about the difficulty of buying comfortable bras but I fail to understand how it's any harder than buying comfortable shoes. Surely there's at least one bra in the world that will fit one's breasts, however lop sided or oddly shaped. And once that bra is found, could you not just purchase 20 or 30 of them?
- Stephen1424, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3no pic : (
- Rudegar, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3the German 16year old kid who did a school shooting a few years back owned the gun legally because the rules stated that a 4 year member (or something) member of a shooting club could legally have a gun of his own at home
not sure if that have changed since - fdiskit, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3"[The bras] are all emblazoned with the word 'police' and made from cotton, polyester, elastic and some other synthetic materials, thickly padded and with no metal or plastic studs or fasteners." - FTA
"Really, your honor, I thought that with a thickly padded bra that said 'police' she just HAD to be a stripper . . ." - Me, in the dock - inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3It's nice to see the police keeping abreast of the latest developments.
- hollyminkowski, on 08/05/2008, -1/+4Just wait until you have 10lbs if boobies to fit before you make any judgements about how hard it is to find a comfortable bra.
- Joeyshinobi88, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2yeah but the ***** bulletproof armor is the worst part to get off.
i swear. if i had a nickle for every time i messed up taking off a chicks bullet proof vest and made myself look like an idiot - i'd be a very rich man..

- DrJG, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2This is ridiculous.
The post is about police, and the question is of bras being bullet proof.
It is not about breasts or sex it is about life-threatening situations.

- DragoonWraith, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Considering the force of a bullet impact, I imagine the wires get shoved in quite deeply, resulting in a fairly serious gash. If its preventable, why not?

- StrawberryFrog, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Someone asked: "The European Union doesn't allow their citizens to own guns so why would cops need a bulletproof anything?"
For criminals with guns.
Next! - Antaries, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1For those who can't get to the story, here it is.
The new underwear was developed as a second barrier of defense after normal bras were found to cause injuries while on duty.
The officers' bullet-proof vests, while stopping the force of gunshots in an attack, pushed the plastic and metal parts of their underwear into their flesh, causing injury.
Carmen Kibat, a policewoman in Hamburg who tested the new underwear, said: "These can save someones life so it's not a laughing matter." She organized "Action Brassiere" across Germany, getting hundreds of policewomen to try the bras out in the line of duty.
They are all emblazoned with the word "police" and made from cotton, polyester, elastic and some other synthetic materials, thickly padded and with no metal or plastic studs or fasteners.
Three thousand front-line women police officers will now be required to wear the bras on duty. Their bosses have decided to allow them to have three each.
Ruediger Carstens, a spokeswoman for the police, said: "This was pioneering work. The safety of our officers is paramount." -
