- noamsml, on 10/12/2007, -9/+96I've got an eerie feeling that that was intentional.
- ordep, on 10/12/2007, -6/+86Something about Obama makes the media very nervous. That alone is reason to vote for him.
- DigitalJesus, on 10/12/2007, -22/+58more ***** American news... Thats Democracy(R)
- pu-z, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30I work in media. There are two kinds of mistakes. The ones you can do and the ones you aren't allowed to do. Calling the landline of a PR agent instead of the Cellphone to inform of a location changes is a mistake you can do. Putting in unrelated politically angled b-roll in a child molester report is something that isn't done. You are thaught to separate such things in your workflow, so ***** like this never happens.
- cmdrNacho, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23its very relevant no matter where its played, because you potentially influence swing votes. As well as voters opinions. If every time a news cast about Bush displayed the picture of hitler or satan.. I do believe that would influence people.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12That's just a some local Fox affiliate, it's not the actual Fox News cable channel.
- pseudojd, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14I hope not, said shaking my head thinking the same unfortunate thoughts.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15Warning kids: this could be utterly faked...
- Jo9100, on 10/12/2007, -16/+25Obama Bin Laden
This is real funny! lol - sahaskatta, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13the reporters got a smirk on his face. kinda funny.
- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Many people are stupid enough to believe this, you know all those ads you see on tv trying to sell stuff? They depend on that idiocy for their success.
- CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16"Barack Obama '08 - 'Still better than Bush!'"
- KibibyteBrain, on 10/12/2007, -15/+22Duh, Fox, like everyone else, can't find any dirt on this guy, so they have to invent it and use psychology to attack him. Personally, I think the whole of the US news media are against Obama, because he is the kind of guy who they have the least ability to exploit one way or another. They'd rather see a tenured(well lobbied) politician take the democratic nomination.
- noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Four times with the same person, each time the 'mistake' was not in his favor?
- triskaid, on 10/12/2007, -11/+18look at the *****-eating grin on that news anchor's face. Can he see the footage he's talking over?
- cipher64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The reporter actually had a smirk on his face which I noted when I watched the video a second time after reading about it in the description of the video.
- isewise, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Its obvious that the footage doesn't match up with what the reporter is talking about, its a local news station those n00bs never know whats going on.
- AggieTales, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11ok, Clinton wasn't a sex offender. Sure he had sex in the oval office with another woman but it was consensual therefore not a sex crime.
- RocketSeason, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Wow. I am stupid enough to see that and actually believe that Osama, oops! I mean, Obama is a child molester. those secret government robots they have installed in the switching boards of news stations are really starting to work.
Thank you for bringing to light this horrifying conspiracy! What ever would I have done had you not been there to point this out to me. - noahhoward, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Four times? You're a little naive aren't you?
- musicmantrs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Thats Ted Kennedy
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Ahhh not in Michigan!
http://digg.com/offbeat_news/Adultery_could_mean_life_court_finds - bswopes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I love how everyone is ignoring the fact that the first three cases listed were by CNN and latching on to this clip of a local Fox station as proof that Fox News (FNC) is behind this conspiracy.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4grow up, you act like news viewers (even fox news) are that stupid
the title of this story is more misleading than the story itself - diggerphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4TV news effs up constantly.
And Obama fans seem to look for it when it pertains to their candidate. (I am neither for or against Obama, BTW)
But I gotta admit that looks pretty bad.
I was inclined to believe it was an unintentional flub, but geez...
It wasn't so bad up until there was that big giant mask there. ;-) - ifire, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I would bet that this case isn't intentional. This kind of ***** happens all the time, just watch your local news regularly and you'll see all sorts of *****, they'll forget to turn on a mic or play the wrong footage and all kinds of dumb *****. You see how quickly they cut away from the footage, it is pretty much evident that a guy working the board soiled himself and cut back to the talking head as fast as he realized that he was pretty much dead.
- Zreitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4brilliant...
That's some really good subliminal tv - foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You could splice the Fox Logo from a real broadcast.
@drizek - cliffzdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@pu-z,
You work in media, so you know things like this "never happen".
Damn straight! Here some examples of things like the reporter reading the wrong ***** off the
teleprompter vs. what's going on behind him/her:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLwwRUjT73o
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMtBYy2BlGs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atfNL0_KAcs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bcam_v_T0rk - thorn101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Does this stuff work? Are there people out there who will actually associate him with a child molester just because of TV (even as a mistake).
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9I felt that the CNN "Where's Obama" was an accident.
This. There is evil intentions behind this one. I swear they were going for subliminal messaging. I'm betting they did this with hundreds of other local stations.. hope we see them soon. - noamsml, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I would say that the enemy of my enemy is indeed my friend, but I'm still holding out to find more about his policies and such.
- SpeedyG, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8Remember everyone:
It's not slander if you put a question mark on the end.
(Honestly. Do you REALLY think that they did this on purpose? And that it wasn't some monkey in the booth pressing the wrong video button? Are you THAT paranoid?) - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Next thing Fox will start telling people that Obama is a Colored and them niggras is gettin' too uppity for their own good.
- cyreeo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Something like this (assuming it's intentional) isn't targeted towards discerning media consumers who can view a news segment objectively and come to an informed conclusion. It's probably not even aimed at people who were watching tv at the time. It's about creating buzz (like "Barack Obama a Sex Offender?" ) and forming negative associations. People who aren't fully aware of the facts will still pick up on all the hype and it could affect their decisions.
- manoftheisland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ok guys think real hard
why would a CNN reporter be doing this to obama.. think hard now
who is going to run against obama in the democratic party? who?
hilarry... thats right... now why has the media all of the sudden left their sweetheart? hmm.. think hard - vbullinger, on 01/30/2008, -0/+1That was hiLARious. Absolutely terrible, though. Faux "News" is a propaganda outfit. This wreaks of Karl Rove.
This, however, is a little more intriguing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVeFVtcdSYY - benphoster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Obama's middle name is "Hussein". Wait until Fox News gets all over that...accidentally, of course. It just goes to show you that people are afraid, truly afraid of a candidate that is different than any we've had. I am not particularly for Obama because of his trade policies...but if he causes this kind of reaction in the conservative press...I may just support him so that he can change things.
- YeahOK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's not Fox news! Thats a Fox impostor! I just love all the people that are so paranoid of Fox News. What about CNN obvious attempts to dash Osama Obama (Teddy K. said it first) by all those subliminal mislabels and the direct comparison of Obama dress apparel to Iran's president Mahmoud Yabba-Dabba-Doo?
- DjSandman87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2George Bush a Murderer?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1put me back in the freezer
- sicheah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't really know why fox news is trying to blemish Obama's name since it only generates more unnecessary hype that in the end works in favor to Obama and its supporters.
Nice going news media, you're just giving us more reasons why we shouldn't listen to you! - clickmyface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually no "we" don't.
And if you notice "we" don't find this acceptable. - eablokker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its sometimes called 'classical conditioning'. Regardless of the fact that logically we know that Barack is not a sex offender, this clip conditions us to unconsciously associate the 'feeling' that we get when we think about sex offenders with the image of Barack Obama. Later, when we see another image of Barack Obama, that feeling that we got may get triggered again. Barack image --> feelings about sex offenders. There is no logical link, but there certainly my now be a neurological link.
- Dhalsim007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's because the media already coronated Hillary Clinton to be President ... and Obama is a threat to that. I'd be more worried about Edwards, frankly.
- avatarpalin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All you need is 51% actually not even that. Bush isn't going to get another term, so why should he play nice?
I can just smell a speech coming along with phrases like "Axis of evil" etc, oh and this time it will be Nuke's. Something so big that they must be right!! And we will send our Sons and Daughters to die. You know it would be nice for Bush to say "you know what, its about Oil.. I know you all know it, but man is that a weight of my chest just letting that one out. It's about oil and we wont stop until we run the region." - shampoovta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 If Obama is this scary to fox or cnn that is a glowing recommendation for me.
I can't wait to vote this guy in!!!
Not to self subscribe to Obama's pocast. - Gatorade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm sorry but this has stopped being an unfortunate coincidence and more like, wow this is really creepy... some force out there wants to sway voters away from Obama in an indirect way, using mental subconcious brainwashing.
- clickmyface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll vote for the sex offender, thanks Fox!
- wnathans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1However unfortunate, they remain coincidences.
Given the two possible scenarios:
1. Untrained boneheads are in the media.
2. Vast left and right wing media conspiracy for the purpose of defacing someone that hasn't even officially started a campaign that is at least a year away.
Option number one seem to fall closer in line with Occam's razor, does it not? While this theory that all media outlets are after this guy for no clearly foreseeable reason smacks of an argument from final consequences. -
