- parax, on 06/03/2008, -2/+10One of my best friends is dyslexic and I think it's a bit misguided to describe it as such a huge impairment. An inability to read/write efficiently isn't really much of a disability given that they're often far more capable of communication through other methods, such as speech or illustration. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and a lot of dyslexics draw a lot of pictures.
- knegil, on 06/03/2008, -0/+7yeah or Maxim's top 100 sexiest men of 2008.

- pinkert11, on 06/03/2008, -0/+6I am dyslexic and also have dysgraphic. I have been tested many times in my life, and I am pretty low on the score. Friends still like to get a beer or two in me to laugh at my talking as I tend to misplace words and talk out of order. I also have the great party trick of reading novels in a mirror because I have no way of telling or knowing up / down or right or left. It wasn't until I was 20 when someone pointed out that Ambulance is written backwards on the hood that I noted that. To me, it always looked perfectly fine.
I worked hard in school, I have my law degree, an undergrad in Anthropology and Sociology with an concentration on statistical analysis. I also graduated top of my class for a post graduate in Corporate Communications and Public Relations. I had to do this as my grade 8 teacher told me I would never succeed in life if I could not spell or write. I was lucky to have my diablities recognized in high school and had assistance in multiple choice tests, and was able to use a computer for written tests. This was also the case at university.
After working in communications and marketing for a few years I made the jump to IT.
Today I am the IT manager for an international manufacturer with sites in Canada, USA, China, Argentina, and South Africa.
Living with dyslexia is not a curse, but an obstacle to overcome.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dysgraphia - inigomntoya, on 06/03/2008, -0/+5Nah - Moron is the PC term for being jentrax...
- trying2hide, on 06/03/2008, -0/+5I am a dyslexic and not a moron. I do, however, find bank accounts to be quite a challenge.
- adamhaker, on 06/03/2008, -0/+5They forgot the king of Sweden. King in swedish is called Kung so people sometimes call him "the Knug" because he mixes up the letters.
- moonboots, on 06/03/2008, -0/+5i liked the unsubstantiated claims that Bush is dyslexic.
- topbob, on 06/03/2008, -0/+5So do I, but I wouldn't call it a "disability." I simply think and learn differently then a lot of people. I would call it "***** annoying" however, since in every class they expect you to remember all that crap you just read from the text book.
- rocktopotomus, on 06/03/2008, -0/+5I'm sure instead of a doctoral dissertation the committee will grant you a Ph.D. for some pretty pictures.
Not being able to read is a HUGE impairment in this world. I should know as I had dyslexia when I was young - i literally could not read because letters would overlap. - wiggles, on 06/03/2008, -2/+7Lysdexia affects mroe tahn yuo know

Is he smart enough to know what dyslexia is and how it a/effects you? - Exekutor, on 06/03/2008, -0/+4It's better than a Forbes 70 slide show gallery.
- Efilnikufesin, on 06/03/2008, -0/+4Yes, WTF indeed
- FFXIfrohike, on 06/03/2008, -0/+4They forgot the Pope!
I mean honestly, some of the conjecture on the people in this article is bit ridiculous. They could have easily confined it to *known* cases and it wouldn't have diminished the point. - Exekutor, on 06/03/2008, -0/+4No, your comment is proof that you are one.
- shane1337, on 06/03/2008, -0/+4I have actually heard that Henry Winkler is so dyslexic that he couldn't read the cue cards on the set of Happy Days, so he improvised most of his lines.
- shutaro, on 06/03/2008, -0/+4Yeah... I have dyslexia and I *still* can't read.
- Pyrerit, on 06/03/2008, -2/+6We would if any of us could read a map well enough to meet up.
- Phoenixfury, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3Yoda I think they missed!
- danielman94, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3I agree. I checked up on some of them, like Einstein, and there is pretty much no proof of them being dyslexic(or not dyslexic, but whatever). Some of them, though, like Keira Knightley(mmm) are actually dyslexic. It seems like they just made a list of celebrities, made up stories about them, and then threw in some dyslexic celebrities, so it seems real.
- monkeychowuk, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3Ha, Dyslexia is a blessing not a curse
Oh sure you suck at spelling but your brain functions in unimaginable ways that will benefit you in ways you would not think
90% of dyslexics are millionaires - jivemasta, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3Is it bad that i didn't notice any errors at first?
- soupnrc, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3http://www.popcrunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/0 ...
- Razster, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3Well now I don't feel so bad about having this wonderful afflictions. Because I heavily relay on spell checker and I have yet to read a book cover to cover because it takes me so damn long - I excel in the arts as well as a good mechanic.
Dropped out of high school, went to college and grabbed my AA in graphics.
It does suck though since now I work as a graphic designer and have to take notes for certain things that people request or want on their projects :( I Must strive! - Oobitsa, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3Same here. We get by.
