I live in Australia, Yahtzee is on Thursday mornings at 4am.- NikoKun, on 01/23/2008, -47/+3I just knew he was gonna do The Witcher this time...lol
i'm surprised he really did though... creepy- bluezinc, on 01/23/2008, -4/+25And your reply had what, exactly, to do with the first comment?
Oh, you just wanted to get attention? Well, you must have had something important to say then. Oh, you didn't? Wow. That's great for you then.- Nerolus, on 01/23/2008, -23/+4And your reply had what, exactly, to do with the first comment?
Oh, you just wanted to get attention? Well, you must have had something important to say then. Oh, you didn't? Wow. That's great for you then. - worthbak, on 01/23/2008, -3/+11chill out, both of you. seriously. this is the internet, not freaking congress.
- BTConan, on 01/23/2008, -1/+11@worthbak. you're exactly right; we take things seriously here.

- bigmac375, on 01/23/2008, -4/+3they seem to have blocked being able to view the vid without adding the site onto the exception list in the AdBlock Plus firefox plugin. anyone know a way around this?
- andycr512, on 01/23/2008, -0/+1It always works for me after refreshing once. FF3 minefield with adblock plus. I would add them to the exception list but I tried once and they have annoying flashing ads that drive me clinically insane because my mind seems to be trying to focus on both them and the video at the same time, so I re-enabled it.
- atdrago, on 01/24/2008, -8/+1get a Mac.
- andycr512, on 01/24/2008, -0/+6What the heck? What relevance does that have to ads on pages? Safari doesn't even have adblock, and if I used Firefox on a Mac I would have the same issue anyway.

- bigmac375, on 01/23/2008, -6/+3sorry for double, but for others: add "@@|http://update.videoegg.com" to the exception list
- bigmac375, on 01/23/2008, -3/+11actually its "@@|http://*.videoegg.com" cuz it uses more than one prefix on that site. sorry, im an idiot. digg me down.

Damn, sometimes I think I love lebowsky just a little too much. But then I come to my senses and realize that there is no "too much" with it =)- Dracusis, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2You are incapable of coming to your senses or, it seems, making any modicum of sense at all.
- iiBeLiEvE, on 01/23/2008, -0/+2Man, you got it set out like I had my Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid.
- Dracusis, on 01/24/2008, -3/+6You get up at 4am to watch Yahtzee?
Props for effort, but that's a little sad. Yahtzee is good, but not that good. A nubile and nekkid girl squirming around over the covers will make me rise at 4am, but getting up just to listen to a hairy Englishman is where I draw the line.- chillypacman, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7I don't get up because I don't sleep.

- Mewchu11, on 01/23/2008, -1/+80I love his potential slogans. If he/escapist put out a "I have no will to live, so here is my weak spot, please shoot it" shirt I'd buy the hell out of it.
- robotosaurus, on 01/24/2008, -0/+5I would blow him like a pufferfish
- Supurcell, on 01/23/2008, -14/+2Hahaha, that's pretty funny. Did you make that up? Oh, no, wait, I think I heard it in the video.
- SPARTACVS, on 01/24/2008, -1/+3LOL, "well albeit a SINGLE player one"... :D
- Gizza, on 01/24/2008, -3/+1Wouldn't a single player MMORPG just be taking the MO out of MMORPG, simply making it a massive RPG, which really can be used to describe any RPG which has a large world and is at all open-ended, such as Oblivion.
- Verz, on 01/24/2008, -0/+5*whoosh*

- Nerolus, on 01/23/2008, -0/+35In a grammatical sense, you only "need" to spell numbers from Zero to Ten and people usually don't even do that, you *****.
- AmazingAndrex, on 01/23/2008, -0/+18If it starts the sentence you're not supposed to use numbers... but I agree he's being too pretentious.
- ophello, on 01/23/2008, -0/+11well, he IS the grammarnazi.
HOWEVER...its the internet, not a highschool paper. - SatansSpatula, on 01/24/2008, -3/+2@ophello: you forgot to capitalize Internet. Among other things.

- robotosaurus, on 01/24/2008, -0/+6I don't get why he needs 20 minutes to prepare
- MrBond, on 01/23/2008, -3/+297Was it just me, or was it weird hearing a normal-speed Yahtzee in the short at the end?
- z9john, on 01/23/2008, -1/+88He probably had to slow himself down after the recording.
- rgaino, on 01/24/2008, -0/+4Given that English is not my first language, I have a hard time understanding everything he says. So I found that a relief. And very weird also.
- kavery, on 01/23/2008, -10/+136The Painkiller part at the end propels this to the top of all of his reviews.
- Cimlite, on 01/23/2008, -32/+54I thought the exact opposite... the review, top notch as always.
The skit or whatever you want to call it at the end, not one bit funny.- directive0, on 01/23/2008, -1/+37It was a little akward, his talent lies in malicious attacks, but it was nice to see him get a little creative. I personally hope to see more overdubbed cinematics.
- keithc01, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1I liked it too... The cinematics were from The Witcher, right?
- Cimlite, on 01/23/2008, -32/+54I thought the exact opposite... the review, top notch as always.
- DwightSchruter, on 01/23/2008, -3/+98the mumorpuger part made me laugh like a little girl

- Urusai, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2It has what would have been a relatively small manual back in the olden days. I remember having to read the dialog from the manual in the SSI/TSR Gold Box era of RPGs.

- CelloZach, on 01/23/2008, -61/+5no your wrong consoles are the best more buttons is hard two understand plus luxor is the only good pc game so their
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+37You forgot the the sarcasm tag.
- Braingoo, on 01/23/2008, -1/+17Peggel > Luxor.
- JoeDiggsIt, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Peggle is the only PopCap game I'm not ashamed to play.
- MRintheKeys, on 01/23/2008, -1/+11Argh.....and don't forget the MindsweepAH!!!!
- mrelusive, on 01/23/2008, -0/+28Looking at your typing, I agree. Too many keys on the PC makes things complicated.
- GrammarNazi3000, on 01/23/2008, -17/+5No, you're wrong. Consoles are the best, because more buttons are harder to understand. Plus, Luxor is the only good PC game, so there!*
- Icyfenix, on 01/23/2008, -3/+11he did it for the lulz

LEARN THESE - CelloZach, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Oh, come on, people. That wasn't blatant enough for you? But yeah, I can't really afford a gaming-ready PC.
- nemof, on 01/23/2008, -3/+65I'd love to agree with you because I despise Console games and joypads, but strangely the market says something else. How about Consoles for some, PCs for others... and tiny American flags for all?
- jpmiller03, on 01/23/2008, -4/+12Don't blame me -I voted for Kodos!
- Icyfenix, on 01/23/2008, -7/+7Console games = slightly harder to pirate
console games = more easy for moniez. - Locke2053, on 01/23/2008, -5/+13NVIDIA/AMD graphics cards outsell Wiis, so how exactly to you justify your claim that "the market" disagrees?
- spiffytech, on 01/23/2008, -1/+17Thise graphics cards are built into many computers, not only the computers of gamers. Their sales figures aren't indicative of PC gaming stats.
- Scrappy1850, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2some people dont know that you can plug a joypad into the PC
- MRintheKeys, on 01/23/2008, -18/+11I never cared for character movement using a keyboard.
- Rhino2, on 01/23/2008, -18/+4I've never cared for character movement by twirling my arm around like queer ***** fag that's jacking off a ***** - a white plastic Wii Wii if you will.
- JoeDiggsIt, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Still can't find a Wii can you, sorry buddy.
- MRintheKeys, on 01/23/2008, -3/+1Then just keep on jerking it the old fashioned way
- Rhino2, on 01/23/2008, -18/+4I've never cared for character movement by twirling my arm around like queer ***** fag that's jacking off a ***** - a white plastic Wii Wii if you will.
- PixelCloud, on 01/23/2008, -17/+10To be honest. I use to be a big pc gamer, but the analog sticks feel so much more fluid and natural, it really adds another layer of immersion rather than playing the game like im on crack (quake 3 style).
- mrelusive, on 01/23/2008, -2/+19Looking at your typing, I agree. Too many keys on the PC makes things complicated.

- mrelusive, on 01/23/2008, -0/+10Damn comment system.
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 01/23/2008, -6/+24I'd like to say, PC > Console games
I would certainly hope so because a decent gaming rig would cost bare minimum 3 times what my console did.- iziizi, on 01/23/2008, -1/+19thats because generally speaking you will get 3 times the graphics output. Personally I prefer PC, but Xbox, PS3 and Wii all have their individual quirks.
- andycr512, on 01/23/2008, -4/+3I don't know what consoles you're buying, but a (quite good) do-it-yourself gaming PC costs about $400 where I am.
- suriyou, on 01/24/2008, -0/+4I wish I lived where you are.
- JoeDiggsIt, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1How's the weather in Happy-Magical-Non-Existent land? Snow?
- andycr512, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1I obviously meant if you kept your case, monitor, mouse and keyboard (the former you're certain to have on hand if you're upgrading, the latter don't come with consoles either unless you count a controller as a keyboard)... The parts for my last two PC's were 400 and 450 each, and the last one (about 1.5 years old) is still a decent gaming machine (AMD 4000+, GeForce 7600GS).
- Arcum, on 01/23/2008, -11/+2How can something more expensive be better I don't understand
- Eallan, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Are you an idiot? It can be better, thats how.
- nebion, on 01/23/2008, -5/+2I enjoy both, and really didn't get how the reviewer could consider The Witcher complicated compared to console games...
It's definitely less complicated than some console RPGs - certainly less so than e.g. Oblivion (which, to be fair, isn't console exclusive), but also compared to console exclusives such as various Final Fantasy games. - SSCrow, on 01/23/2008, -14/+17PC Gamers are so Elitist.
Jesus.
Why not enjoy a good game regardless of its platform?- kubedawg, on 01/23/2008, -6/+24Because PC's are awesome.
- CelloZach, on 01/23/2008, -61/+5no your wrong consoles are the best more buttons is hard two understand plus luxor is the only good pc game so their
- NoahK, on 01/23/2008, -2/+29Im playing through this game right now, I really like it except it has crashed on me 3 times in 2 days. :(
- Xyleene, on 01/23/2008, -0/+12Update to 1.2. problem solved... unless of course you have old hardware..
- NCecil, on 01/23/2008, -3/+12I've been loving it as well; hopefully Yahtzee will come around for the "full review".
- Drax0n, on 01/23/2008, -1/+8They warned you though!
It did say "Games for windows" right on the front of the box didn't it?- Incomp3tnt, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4Zing!
- supaLink, on 01/24/2008, -1/+01/2 the game is load screen -_-
- BugMeNot2, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1They fixed that with the 1.2 patch.
- Darcius, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2Yeah i'm also loving the game as well and I usually don't have the attention span for regular RPG's. The plot and decisions you have to make once you get into it are really quite good!
- tweetsa, on 01/23/2008, -4/+91LOL the mmorpeguer and the PC master race got me
- daborg, on 01/23/2008, -0/+7Yes they're both funny because they're both true.
- coolcole93, on 01/23/2008, -1/+11God I love those reviews!
- twiztidsinz, on 01/23/2008, -6/+31Like a vacuum with a puffer fish.

- skubiszm, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Zed: Bring out the Gimp.
Maynard: But the Gimp's sleeping.
Zed: Well, I guess you're gonna have to go wake him up now, won't you?
- skubiszm, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Zed: Bring out the Gimp.
- ats314, on 01/23/2008, -0/+50I love the reviews as much as the next guy, but he's beginning to form a habit of only playing 20% of games. Amazingly enough, they are still pretty dead on.
- PixelCloud, on 01/23/2008, -1/+53Generally games are the same 20 minutes repeated for 15 hours.
- nucleararms, on 01/24/2008, -1/+2I agree having just finished Assassin's Creed
- Icyfenix, on 01/23/2008, -1/+1well, he probablly plays em, but it must take a whole day to make those, and he only has to make one....so YEA. Would you make 20 a week?
- bobartig, on 01/23/2008, -1/+4Well, he's not really a game reviewer, he's more of a game critic. He's not concerned as much with the game content, or the genre, or finishing, it, he goes over the presentation, and flaws, and whether he thought it was a little annoying, or insufferably annoying. What's strange to me is that he doesn't seem to enjoy the turn-based RPG genre, but he keeps reviewing them anyways. At least he does it in an entertaining fashion.
I'm somewhat surprised to learn that this game involves so much boffing of bucksome medieval peasants, but I'm also a bit skeptical because he didn't finish the game. Of course, neither outcome would really motivate me to buy this title anyways. - dsmx, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1Generally you can work out if a game is any good by playing it for 20 minutes if it doesn't grab you after that time it's not for you.
- BugMeNot2, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2The first two or three hours of The Witcher are merely average, but once you progress to Act II, the game gets really, really good.
- PixelCloud, on 01/23/2008, -1/+53Generally games are the same 20 minutes repeated for 15 hours.

- valardur, on 01/23/2008, -4/+19So is this game really that boring? Cause I've always heard the story is one, if not the best of RPGs.
- shcforward, on 01/23/2008, -0/+38It does have a great storyline, but just like he said, it takes forever to actually get into it.
Also, you have to keep in mind his job is to criticize games in a world where most game reviewers (and fans) just fellate them.- method3, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1Dugg for reference to the Painkiller intro short, intended or not.
- naganooch, on 01/23/2008, -2/+14personally i loved it. i didn't find the interface overly complicated, and the combo timing was, while still point-> click, slightly more difficult for me than he leads me to believe it was for him. he's right on though about many of the quests resembling the generic "go find 10 skulls" from a mumorpurger! there were some tedious moments, and if the game was just the questing without the plot, i wouldn't have enjoyed it so much. the writing was rather good, and overall i'd recommend to people who liked, say, neverwinter
- Coaleh, on 01/23/2008, -3/+24Yahtzee doesn't seem to really like detailed RPGs. The Witcher is one and i have to say its one of the best ones i have played.
Great story and the combat system isnt as bad as he says it is, also its not boring at all.
Opinions opinions opinions. - h4mx0r, on 01/23/2008, -5/+5The fighting system is really silly. I didn't really feel like I was playing, plus topped with the crazy load times... Immersion was fairly thin.
- daborg, on 01/23/2008, -0/+7The fighting system is one of the best aspects of The Witcher. Instead of a mindless spastic clickfest you actually have to pay attention to what you're doing.
- taquitohater, on 01/23/2008, -4/+1What you're doing is the same thing once, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again...
- Ignignokt01, on 01/24/2008, -0/+6To really get into the thick of the combat you can't play for just a few hours like the reviewer did. I thought his review was pretty misguided, but whatever, to each their own
- daborg, on 01/23/2008, -0/+7The fighting system is one of the best aspects of The Witcher. Instead of a mindless spastic clickfest you actually have to pay attention to what you're doing.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+13I found the game to be quite fun. Of course, everything he says in his reviews are just slight nitpicks he blows out of proportion. I thought the click combat would be lame, but it's not too bad. The graphics are really nice, the voice acting isn't so horrible, and the level design is great.
- Ihatenicks, on 01/23/2008, -3/+7Yahtzee is very funny and I can't say I disagree with his critiques and although we all know he doesn't like RPGs.. I feel that to for those who do, this (funny) bitchfest kinda misses the mark.. but can't complain as no-one agrees with everything all of the time, however I feel that he should have at least finished it before ragging on it so hard.. and the Painkiller spoof was lame.
- AdmiralJimbob, on 01/23/2008, -1/+20It is a brilliant game, and by far one of the best RPGs released over the last few years. Yahtzee is funny as hell, and he's a breath of fresh air in the reviewing scene where everyone else is handing out 10/10 to the likes of Bioshock (which was a decent game, but nowhere near deserving of the accolades it received). Sadly, he's at his best when he doesn't like a game, and he knows that, and he seems to have stopped playing The Witcher about an hour or two before it gets really good. So I wouldn't recommend that anyone actually trust his opinion here...
Still, funny as hell.- ParticleMan420, on 01/23/2008, -5/+1so after the first 20 hours it gets interesting?
sounds like a great game....
/sarcasm- AdmiralJimbob, on 01/23/2008, -0/+3Act 1 doesn't take much longer than 8-12 hours at the very most, and some parts of it are actually pretty good.
The Witcher does have a fairly bad start, overall, but it's a 50-70-hour game - and I say that as someone who finds that purportedly 70-hour games tend to last closer to 20 at most. By the time you've reached Lakeside, running backwards and forwards between Abigail's house and the chapel will be a very distant memory.

- StaticThunder, on 01/23/2008, -0/+7My summary -- funny review style coupled with crappy analysis of a good game.
- markperia, on 01/23/2008, -0/+7The thing is you'll have to clock in at least 3 hrs into the game before it really gets interesting. To some thats just too much time and work. Ive been playing the game since it came out and I still haven't finished it but the storyline is superb.

- Kainzy, on 01/23/2008, -5/+5I couldn't even play the game because all it did was crash every 5mins. Despite me having the vista memory patch, and the stupidly large game patch. I lasted about 2hrs in the game before just giving up on the turd title, it was like walking backwards in time. Give me more of Baldurs Gate or Oblivion please. Not some game with the most pathetic interface I've ever seen. You can't even flipping JUMP!
- AdmiralJimbob, on 01/23/2008, -0/+12You kind of jump when you do the dodge moves with your sword out. Anyway, you don't NEED to be able to jump. When was the last time you jumped in real life?
- woohhaa, on 01/23/2008, -1/+4Good point.
- ruley, on 01/23/2008, -2/+8when was the last time you had to collect 10 monster skulls?
- AdmiralJimbob, on 01/23/2008, -0/+3When I play a game about being a monster hunter, I expect to be told to kill monsters. I don't expect my character to be Mario.
- yohnstoppable, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1I don't give a ***** what anyone says about this. If I was a complete badass with ultimate strength, i'd jump all the time. It would be like having flubber on your shoes... so fun
- Kainzy, on 01/23/2008, -2/+6Suppose you walk upto a fence? Oh hello I can't jump over it in the game so I have to walk all the way around it. Or if I walk along a little path/bridge outside a house, which comes to an abrupt end - I have to then turn around and walk the long way around it because I can't simply jump off it like any other RPG lets me simply do. Sorry, too many quirks to make the game remotely enjoyable.
It has a great storyline yes, but I found it had more cons then pro's. I mean how many re-iterations of 'take this item to x,y,z' must I do? and I won't even mention the dire combat.
- AdmiralJimbob, on 01/23/2008, -0/+12You kind of jump when you do the dodge moves with your sword out. Anyway, you don't NEED to be able to jump. When was the last time you jumped in real life?
- hissir, on 01/23/2008, -6/+6Twenty minutes. Puffer fish.
- KnightMareInc, on 01/23/2008, -4/+9the witcher is awesome. But than again I found the game easy and I didnt even read the manual.
- s1mph0ny, on 01/23/2008, -2/+3I'd have to disagree with the yahtzee's opinion of the difficulty as well. It's not a hard game to play, but it's not graphically intense, stable, or even remotely interesting either.
- pathy, on 01/23/2008, -5/+39Aw man, that's a pity.
The starting village of the Witcher is the worst part of the game. It is unintuative, but once you actually start getting in to the game and you've built Gerald up a bit, the story opens up, the combat becomes better, NPCs are more interesting and you actually realise how to do things in it.
It's a shame he couldn't get in to it, it's a fantastic RPG, the best I've played in a long time.- Kevleviathan, on 01/23/2008, -12/+4And what does that tell you about the game design if the first couple hours are so boring it feels like a chore to play it?
- unicronband, on 01/23/2008, -7/+11That maybe you should stick with Halo 3 if a good, involved RPG bores you?
- s1mph0ny, on 01/23/2008, -4/+2Mass Effect is a good RPG, The Witcher isn't.

- bobartig, on 01/23/2008, -0/+4well, I'm of the opinion that the beginning of a game should be fast paced, attention grabbing, and scintillating to get you hooked. Of course, Yatzee doesn't even seem to like RPG's to begin with, being also unimpressed by Mass Effect.
- daborg, on 01/23/2008, -0/+6I just finished The Witcher's demo and I'm hooked.
- metamorfoza, on 01/23/2008, -0/+3I agree. "The starting village" is awfully scripted , poorly acted and a bit confusing. As if developers purposely decided to put the worst of the Witcher in intro.Imo, Chapter II shows the beauty of the Witcher.
- dsmx, on 01/24/2008, -1/+2I think it's there just to stop console tards from play the game to quote yatzee.

- cblaines, on 01/24/2008, -0/+0I thought the exact same thing when I saw that the review was about "the witcher". I searched on google and found the comic as I had remembered it, however, it's from Oct 2004? What's up with that? Is Yahtzee reviewing an older game or did it really take 3 years to put out the game from when PA was getting demos/screenshots?

- jamwil87, on 01/23/2008, -3/+5Yes you can.
- ucbmckee, on 01/23/2008, -16/+5Personally, I found this a fairly deep and entertaining game. Combat is only one-click if you want to die heinously by trivial mobs; to actually -play- the game requires a bit more attention as you work to time your hits (fast, multi, strong) such that you chain. Clearly, ZeroPunctuation has a strong case of ADD... clearly surprising, given his reviews, I know. =) Oh, and I got laid this morning, thanks for asking.
- 1807, on 01/23/2008, -1/+3So did you get laid this morning?
- ucbmckee, on 01/23/2008, -2/+1The reference was to the video's claim that the only people who could like the game were sexless losers. If nothing else, it's at least 50% wrong.

Plus the demo was super long, which is a nice change of pace from the 45 minute demos a lot of games have nowadays. - Ninjao, on 01/23/2008, -7/+4The part after the review was awesome :D
- daborg, on 01/23/2008, -10/+1Yes, except that it sucked.
