- ZeroFeetAbove, on 01/09/2008, -12/+150I'm starting to live for Wednesdays now. Definitely one of the best and most honest game reviewers out there. Although he may seem harsh, all of his criticisms are valid.
- sidiooo, on 01/09/2008, -12/+9everything he says is exactly what we're thinking, its great to see someone tell it like it is for once in this conformist society.
- MonkCanatella, on 01/10/2008, -0/+3lol.
- teh_techie, on 01/09/2008, -0/+65I quite like the fact that even someone who has ADHD could sit through this and not have time to be bored.
- Daggity, on 01/09/2008, -0/+63"I'm starting to live for Wednesdays..." Isn't this said every time Zero Punctuation is posted?
- CATSCEO, on 01/09/2008, -0/+11Yep
- itsatrapadbar, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1already seen it in this article about 5 times, and about 30 times in all the others
- MacGyver2210, on 01/09/2008, -1/+7I've never seen this before, but I think it's a new addiction. This is one of the most hilarious and clever things I have ever seen on teh intarweb. I give it a solid 3 "I like turtles" and two and a half "Ah *****, I can't believe you've done this"s.
- Angostura, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Agreed. Never seen it before either. Rather good, though.
- Providence, on 01/09/2008, -0/+5So if you live for Wednesday's Yahtzee Reports, then what would you do if he stopped making them? Would you stop living?
People just keep saying that, and I wonder if that's what they really mean?- rochdale, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1I do too, for what, like, a nano-second. Then I remember they're human beings naturally prone to exaggeration.
- Tucker87, on 01/09/2008, -1/+1I do agree with most of what he says, however there are points where I ask if he even played that game. Like in the Mass Effect review where he stated that your teammates run in front of you constantly... I never had this happen however I am told that even if I did there is nice little button that will order them out of the way!
I do still love Yahtzee... And yes I would kill myself if he stopped making them :-)
- sidiooo, on 01/09/2008, -12/+9everything he says is exactly what we're thinking, its great to see someone tell it like it is for once in this conformist society.
- rossmills, on 01/09/2008, -38/+3Yahtzee culminates this video by describing what I've wanted to do to him for months.
- ebrake21, on 01/09/2008, -0/+51you've wanted to eat his ass?
- rossmills, on 01/09/2008, -4/+2I thought that was obviously what I meant. What else could I have meant?

- danwallace, on 01/10/2008, -1/+1You eat pieces of ***** for breakfast?

uh i missed it - bpwwhirl, on 01/09/2008, -2/+81Yaaay! Wednesdays!
- itsatrapadbar, on 01/10/2008, -1/+2seriously? did you not just look up at that person ^ who just said the same thing basically?
- trahay0218, on 01/09/2008, -22/+2Haha, roomie got his post up in time. Good job man.
- jrobbio, on 01/09/2008, -0/+25I didn't realise so many developers sold the franchise out to other developers. If you had a reputation to protect, wouldn't you make sure you protected it by doing it yourself?
- saucedmike, on 01/09/2008, -0/+15*ahem* money
- sakuraz, on 01/09/2008, -1/+2More precisely, milking...
- chris4404, on 01/09/2008, -0/+2Money is the correct answer. This really is nothing new, movie studios do it all the time. Example: The original Hellboy was made by Sony but the second one is being made by Universal.
- saucedmike, on 01/09/2008, -0/+15*ahem* money
- Trozz, on 01/09/2008, -3/+74Dugg for Mr Frustrating Combat and Professor Dodgey Camera Positioning. Not to mention, dugg for making Wednesdays something to look forward to.
- volacide, on 01/09/2008, -0/+3...and dugg for continually coming back for more because not every game has to have some really deep combat mechanics and user controlled camera. The average combat mechanics and artfully decided camera angles make Silent Hill what it is.
I love first person shooters and other games of the like just as much as the next person, but this idea that each and every game has to focus heavily on combat just because it allows you to kill enemies in it is ***** absurd. I don't want all my games to be the same and that's the reason why the enemies in Silent Hill aren't tough to kill, hell, you don't even have to kill them, I could run by every single one of them and be just fine. They're just there to haunt you.
- volacide, on 01/09/2008, -0/+3...and dugg for continually coming back for more because not every game has to have some really deep combat mechanics and user controlled camera. The average combat mechanics and artfully decided camera angles make Silent Hill what it is.
- xTRUMANx, on 01/09/2008, -1/+11Seeing that Silent Hill 5 has been outsourced out of Japan to, from all the fantastic and capable Western developers available, the Collective whose game list is a list of licensed game no one played, I think Yahtzee's ass will be safe from teeth marks at least until Silent Hill 6.
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Collective%2C_Inc ...- 42Vindictive, on 01/09/2008, -0/+5Movie games! No! NO! NOOOOOO!
- volacide, on 01/09/2008, -0/+5That's what I thought too for I am an enormous Silent Hill fan, it is without a doubt my single favorite video game series. But then if you pull your head out of your ass for a good couple seconds and look into the matter you'd see the developers are HUGE fans of the series too and not only do they not want to let us down, they don't want to let themselves down either. Just one look at the art direction and watch an interview with them discussing the topic and your premature jump to this conclusion should go away.
- xTRUMANx, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Hey, my heads on top of my shoulders and out of my ass just like everyone else but come on. The Collective? Take a look at their past games and tell me your not the least bit pessimistic. Don't take my pessimism the wrong way however, I really wish them the best of luck and hope they can deliver. For the sake of the franchise...
- mattcoady, on 01/09/2008, -0/+30No sound at work so I gotta make up the review in my head, basing it on the images and his signature voice.
- briguymaine, on 01/09/2008, -0/+28just throw in a lot of "***** wanker" and you're half way there.
- andycr512, on 01/09/2008, -1/+14It's easy, just throw in Noun, Verb, Cheeseburger-inhaling Yanks, Cynical Criticism here. Repeat for 3 minutes.

- h4mx0r, on 01/09/2008, -0/+29Woo hoo, Just by Radiohead for the credits!
Weapon degradation sucks, but the only time I thought it was a nice thing was in Fire Emblem.- SideShowMel0329, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Ah yes, I agree. It added a good strategic element (one of many) to the Fire Emblem games.
- MutatedNantuko, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Oblivion's was nice, because you could end up repairing things to 125 percent, and at master you can create copies of the item.
- blah247, on 01/09/2008, -2/+7Best game reviewer out there. Can't trust Gamespot or any of the sellouts out there.
- SevenTwo, on 01/09/2008, -0/+4I watched, and I'm at work. One because I have the game, and two because its hilarious and true.
- creep303, on 01/09/2008, -0/+21This guy's a good reviewer, he doesn't need to rely on a gimmick to get people to watch/listen.
- nourkah, on 01/09/2008, -1/+8I believe his gimmick is the funny flash video and the constant bashing of certain aspects of the game in a funny accent.
He's a great reviewer, but there is a gimmick.- Zettabyte, on 01/10/2008, -1/+10Not all English speakers have an American accent.
- h4mx0r, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2It's a damn good gimmick at that. It's the cream on the pie. Or whatever that saying is.
- Vorin, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2icing on the cake?
cream of the crop?
either way, yes.

- Tahiri, on 01/09/2008, -1/+4I have it, it is great. Most amazing portable game ever
- KnightMareInc, on 01/09/2008, -9/+2I was wondering when his next review was going to be released

- Mikhail101, on 01/09/2008, -6/+5Nice i like his reviews, but i dont get if i should buy this game or not, he should have summarized it.
- spacemanspork, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Um, basically it's very Silent Hillesque but not as good as the other Silent Hills.
It's basically like Silent Hill 2, but the story isn't as good and the controls/game play are the worst out of the 4 games. So buy if you're a fan of Silent Hill and if you don't mind some very annoying game play issues (combat and camera issues). It's a pretty mediocre game unfortunately. Not terrible, not great. Unfortunately, that's probably how SH5 is going to end up.
- spacemanspork, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Um, basically it's very Silent Hillesque but not as good as the other Silent Hills.
- liammcclelland, on 01/09/2008, -7/+0:) w00t this make my wednesdays
- AmICoolNow, on 01/09/2008, -5/+54"I'll remove three of my own vertebrae, curl my spine back and eat my own ass"...
Quote of the century.- jpjandrade, on 01/09/2008, -1/+32"Floss myself to death" beats that, sorry.
- nurvus, on 01/10/2008, -0/+8"Swallow barbed wire ,pull it out my ass and floss myself to death." I'll never forget that :)
- jpjandrade, on 01/09/2008, -1/+32"Floss myself to death" beats that, sorry.
- andycr512, on 01/09/2008, -0/+8I almost beat his 1-second "think of a game where weapon degradation was a good thing" challenge, but forgot the name: Medievil. I don't believe it was annoying at all; you had a club, which you could also use as a torch. If you didn't use the "torch" sparingly enough, you were left with a smoking stub and forced to fight off tons of zombies with nothing more than a severed arm. Ah well...
- SSUK, on 01/09/2008, -0/+3I said SystemShock 2, but then took it back as I relived the game in my head...
- Tahiri, on 01/09/2008, -0/+2Dead rising.
Which is why I love this game, it's almost like a portable Dead Rising. Granted you're not dealing with 800 zombies at once, but it's still kinda neat to have a similar camera angle, be given a huge environment, breakable weapons, etc. - shadoturtl, on 01/10/2008, -0/+2Bethesda's games (oblivion, etc) have weapon degradation and a skill that allows you to repair them. cause you know an indestructible crowbar is so much better(I'm looking at you Freeman). If done right, it adds a little more strategy to the gameplay. not for everyone, but no without merit.
- motiontomove, on 01/09/2008, -2/+18Dugg for Björk and Radiohead.
- 232430, on 01/09/2008, -0/+4I knew I should've taken a left turn at Albuquerque.
- sonofman1984, on 03/03/2008, -8/+2I'd love to have a beer with that guy...
But what if he talked really slow in real life.
"look...at....that....chick....at....5...o'clock........9...o'clock...........forget....it. - int10h, on 01/09/2008, -0/+3Why did Konami give The Collective ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Collective%2C_Inc ) the pleasure to destroy SH5? It could have been great, now it's probably going to be as generic and boring as American remakes of Japanese horror movies are (It will probably have one of these research scenes too, which I hate). Oh well, let's hope SH6 will be developed internally or by some competent developer instead of a company focused on crappy license games.
At least we'll get to hear a new kickass (probably) soundtrack by Yamaoka and that's always something. - woohhaa, on 01/09/2008, -0/+4I use to look forward to Thursday (payday) but Wed is taking over.
- damnyooneek, on 01/09/2008, -1/+4maybe its my ADD but i think reviews for things should be more like this one. fast and it gets to the point.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 01/09/2008, -0/+18Chocolate Katana would be a good name for a band.
- mco5t9, on 01/09/2008, -0/+21It's actually what I've named my penis.
- Loonacy, on 01/10/2008, -1/+1Damn. I'm going to have to change my name for mine.
- mco5t9, on 01/09/2008, -0/+21It's actually what I've named my penis.
- Nostromo13, on 01/09/2008, -2/+5Dead rising=awesome weapon degradation, although that is the exception as opposed to the rule.
- antiorblkflag9, on 01/09/2008, -1/+3No, it's just annoying; baseball bats should not break that quickly.
- spacemanspork, on 01/09/2008, -0/+5there's a difference between AWESOME and NECESSARY weapon degradation. dead rising had necessary weapon degradation.
- exomni, on 01/10/2008, -0/+0I'd agree with you if the weapons actually broke apart instead of just disappeared with a completely out of place "bonk" sound effect.
Hopefully in Dead Rising 2 the weapons will actually fall apart. Maybe even some of them you could use after they fall apart once, like a metal bar from a worn-out shopping cart.- Slique22, on 01/10/2008, -0/+0Dead Rising had pathetic weapon degradation, IMO. I mean, come on; a katana that breaks after slicing through a few zombies? Degradation works well when it's applied to specific weapons - such as Baseball Bats - but not when it's just slapped on everything for the sake of it.
- jolshwar, on 01/09/2008, -5/+0Digg needs a Zero Punctuation tab...
- Auxilium, on 01/09/2008, -24/+1Logged in to bury this; buried for Zero Punctuation.
- antiorblkflag9, on 01/09/2008, -0/+2I will hold him to that end promise.
- headlessclown, on 01/09/2008, -0/+2bjork and radiohead in one review? dugg
as for the review itself. as brilliant as ever. - rikwakefield, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Hands down, the best reviewer around.
- spacemanspork, on 01/09/2008, -2/+3My thoughts on SHO.
1) The story was somewhat interesting, but Yahtzee is spot on though. Some things don't make sense, like him sticking in the town. The early part of the game he keeps on saying "I need to see what happened to the girl!" There's no reason he has to. Plus the other people seemed so nonchalant about how weird the town was. Like Lisa... The "past" issues were somewhat interesting, but feels like an attempt to copy SH2.
2) The combat was wonky like crazy. It was extraordinarily difficult to execute the "finishing stomp". I've had so many monsters get back up because the game wouldn't register that.
3) The camera angle changes were terribly done coupled with the movement scheme. You would be going north, then trying to go north east. The camera angle would switch somewhere it the middle so you start running south west and wind up going the opposite direction. The way Onimusha and those style games worked IIRC is as long as you don't fully release the analog stick you'll continue going the way you were before. The way this game worked is if you even shift direction slightly it'll redo the directions.
4) Weapon degradation was really annoying. I also finished the game barely using any of the powerful weapons. I didn't even use a single shot of the magnum. In fact I used 2 katanas for the final boss and that's it. - croxor, on 01/09/2008, -1/+0Yahtzee is now the back space columnist for PCGamer. I love the zero punctuation reviews, but it doesn't translate well.
- DharmaTurtle, on 01/09/2008, -1/+7What's with the "3" in the digg url?

- DharmaTurtle, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1No it isn't. Try typing in 2. or removing it entirely. Anyway, digg should have detected a dupe, afterall, it is linking to the original host site.
- fmc6338, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1I agree most with his comment on the writing of modern video games.
