Zero Punctuation: Mailbag Showdown

However, I have no doubt that he will enjoy it a lot more than he wanted to.
- theaceoffire, on 05/07/2008, -0/+10If he does it will be because it deserves it.
- ausoff2, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1Seems that way, or he could just be mirroring my exact thoughts on GTAIV, that I'm gonna spend the next few weeks appreciating the hell out of it.
- dsmx, on 05/07/2008, -9/+1I was right last week then when I said he'd be reviewing GTA4 next.
- Jozer99, on 05/07/2008, -2/+14No, he solved Fermat's last theorem. What did you think "needs a bit more time to play GTA IV" meant?!?!?
- rezist, on 05/08/2008, -0/+4I hope he mentions that we've played this same game many times over at this point. Dynamic lighting is nice, but halfway through, just like all GTA titles, it gets ancient.

- Mattja, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Sod whether it makes me cool, it's still boneheaded and pointless.
- ace429k, on 05/07/2008, -7/+8yes it does. he has currently +100, you have currently -1.
- Schweppes7T4, on 05/07/2008, -8/+6i lol'd at that, and had my coworkers glare at me

- shondell, on 05/07/2008, -5/+1Did anyone notice the bit at the end credits where the text reads "i am going to need a little more time to play GTA 4"? Maybe we can expect his review as soon as next week?

- orangedude, on 05/07/2008, -14/+9LOL! I GOT FEATURED IN A YAHTZEE REVIEW!
That part in parenthesis really should've been at the end of the paragraph... oops!
The full quote I made in the SSBB review thread:
"I can understand why Yahtzee doesn't like this game and the tons of fanboy email requests probably made him even more ***** at it, but there wasn't really much of a review here. From a purely objective standpoint as a game, SSBB is actually quite a superb game (as you can tell by reading reviews). Very well balanced characters, endless variety, fast paced, easy to learn yet impossible to master gameplay, etc.
Anyways, you either love it or you hate it. I guess this review wasn't meant to and won't change anyone's opinion about the game. But at least Yahtzee has tried it before forming an opinion. I bet most of the bashers posting here don't even have a Wii and have never even played SSBB before."- blackrockcoast, on 05/07/2008, -2/+4Eustace Curdswallow?
- orangedude, on 05/07/2008, -4/+2I didn't leave my name, genius. It was an internet thread..
- OneLess, on 05/08/2008, -3/+24Awesome, congratulations on being mocked for your stupid posting.
- orangedude, on 05/08/2008, -5/+3It was in response to the dozens of Yahtzee fanboys in the thread who were posting ***** like,
"Yahtzee is god! SSBB sucks!"- OneLess, on 05/08/2008, -2/+1Oh I see, that totally makes it less stupid.
- Pilomotor, on 05/08/2008, -1/+2They were just being "objective".
- orangedude, on 05/08/2008, -5/+3It was in response to the dozens of Yahtzee fanboys in the thread who were posting ***** like,
- therightclique, on 05/08/2008, -3/+8Dude, you don't want to bring attention to the fact that it was you that wrote that incredibly stupid fanboy gibberish.
- MassHysteria, on 05/08/2008, -3/+5Oh hi, person-who-made-himself-look-like-a-fool.
Can I get a autograph if that's ok with you, person-who-got-mocked-by-Yahtzee? - estvir, on 05/08/2008, -3/+3Thanks for pointing that out, now we can mock your stupidity on Digg as well.
Go find a dictionary, moron. - orangedude, on 05/08/2008, -3/+5I post that in response to the dozens of Yahtzee fanboys in the thread who were littering it with comments like,
"Yatzee is god!!!!! SSBB sux!"
Looks like Digg's full of them too, except they actually know how to use spell check.
- blackrockcoast, on 05/07/2008, -2/+4Eustace Curdswallow?
- Kronk42583, on 05/07/2008, -3/+2buried for overuse of the word epic. it needs to stop. next think we know people are going to refer to their previous breath as an epin win just so they can post it on digg. grow up guys.
- Steven8890, on 05/07/2008, -54/+594God damn I hate you people who quote something from articles or videos and then have nothing significant to say about the quote except "epic win". But of course you get dugg up to Mars for being the good 'ol internet bandwagon bitch.

- superkendall, on 05/07/2008, -3/+60Hey, it's the internet, you can actually swear you know.
- chewties, on 05/07/2008, -1/+37anyway his mom won't be reading it. she will be ***** me.

- chewties, on 05/07/2008, -1/+13did you watch the whole thing you impatient *****?
- BestJaxx, on 05/07/2008, -1/+10Flasing? Oh, never mind.
- moush, on 05/07/2008, -7/+1That's a pretty lame burn, I thought yahtzee could come up with better.
- xkorbin, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1flogging?! That's abuse!
- superkendall, on 05/07/2008, -3/+60Hey, it's the internet, you can actually swear you know.
- Steven8890, on 05/07/2008, -158/+7Where the ***** is the GTA 4 review??? I know he hates getting begged to review games but come on GTA 4 is a given.
- magicaltrevor, on 05/07/2008, -2/+89Apparently, he needs more time to play it.
- BestJaxx, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Good to know that he has been playing that for a long time to make sure that he has a very well researched review on it. I personally noticed that it gets far better the further you get through the game, so it would suck if he would have thrown down on it this week with only the beginning ***** to criticize.
- ferrariman60, on 05/07/2008, -1/+39Um, maybe GTA 4 is gi-*****-gantic? Who has actually beaten that game by now? He'd have to play it religiously for a week, and then formulate a good review for it. That can't be a quick process. I think it will be in 2 weeks time, that should give him enough time to beat it and come up with a good review.
- AdmiralJimbob, on 05/07/2008, -4/+0The Witcher would like to ask you when exactly Yahtzee started finishing games before reviewing them.
- ferrariman60, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4That's why for his "Witcher" review he said "First Impressions" for it, idiot. He explicitly noted that it was not a full review. For a review, he always finishes the games. This isn't difficult.
- AdmiralJimbob, on 05/08/2008, -0/+0http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem
Whether he said it was a full review or not is irrelevant. He reviewed it. He did not finish it. He felt comfortable passing judgement on it before finishing it. Why is it impossible to assume he could do the same in future?
- AdmiralJimbob, on 05/08/2008, -0/+0http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem
- ferrariman60, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4That's why for his "Witcher" review he said "First Impressions" for it, idiot. He explicitly noted that it was not a full review. For a review, he always finishes the games. This isn't difficult.
- IronPwnage, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1I've finished it. 31 hours over 10 days. That's only 3 hours a day, not exactly playing it religioussly.
- AdmiralJimbob, on 05/07/2008, -4/+0The Witcher would like to ask you when exactly Yahtzee started finishing games before reviewing them.
- Steven8890, on 05/07/2008, -46/+2Needs more time? Isn't his job to review games? You can beat GTA 4 in 30 hours. Say he works 8 hours a day for the 9 days it's been out he would have 72 hours. Then factor in that he isn't the only one writing the reviews (and don't act like he is) he would have had ample time to deliver a review.
- TheHayze, on 05/07/2008, -0/+30But he, maybe, oh I don't know, has a life outside work, and has other projects to work on? He's not some dorm room college boy, or frat house wanker who skips all his classes to play GTA IV. Good things come to those who wait; the review will come out at some point with every little nit-pick Yahtzee is known for.
- adventchild08, on 05/07/2008, -0/+24Other reviewers had to be locked in a room for a week to review it. Yahtzee also has to compose the review...which probably takes longer than you think.
- darkstarshadow, on 05/07/2008, -0/+21The last frame of the video specifically says he needs more time to play GTA.
- cannonball, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4I think Steven needs to chill.
- Asianwaste, on 05/07/2008, -0/+13Dude STFU man, it's not like you're paying a dime to watch his reviews. I think you completely missed the point of this specific video if you even watched it.
- protogenxl, on 05/07/2008, -6/+12Do you really need someone in authority giving you a simple yea or nay before you by anything? Why don’t you roll over so they can stamp on the other side of your face?
- Steven8890, on 05/07/2008, -4/+3I already bought it but like most people I enjoy hearing his opinion no matter if I have the game or not.
- twiztidsinz, on 05/07/2008, -2/+6Dont need the yay or nay...
But I could do with a helping of hooker related jokes
- twiztidsinz, on 05/07/2008, -2/+15He's also, as he himself would put it: FROM ***** AUSTRALIA!
They're notorious for getting things later than everyone else in the world.. and by the world I mean US & Europe.- djSyndrome, on 05/07/2008, -15/+2Which is funny, because he's actually from England.
- twiztidsinz, on 05/07/2008, -0/+17Yahtzee is a British-born, currently Australian-based writer and gamer with a sweet hat and a chip on his shoulder. When he isn't talking very fast into a headset mic he also designs freeware adventure games and writes the back page column for PC Gamer, who are too important to mention us. His personal site is www.fullyramblomatic.com.
- Tryptomine, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3It released in Australia on the same date as Europe and America.
- EvilFerret, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5Pretty sure Australia was the very first country to get it due to them living in the future and all.
- Zyphron, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1The real question is whether or not he will get the real version or the australian "we cant handle some simulated sex" version.
- djSyndrome, on 05/07/2008, -15/+2Which is funny, because he's actually from England.

- Bilabrin, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2You need a review from Yahzee to tell you it rules?
Oh, I get it, you just want to hear another humorous review about a game you like. Be patient my friend. - matthew2398, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4i think your the type of person he is taking about. winey bitches who just need to STFU
- Zyphron, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1*You're*

- Neenahred, on 05/08/2008, -2/+2No bad Steven8890 wait more then a ***** week. Also come up with a better more clever name like matthew2398 did. Honestly do you think we rly want to know your real name. O and Steven It Is Time To Get a LIFE. Go outside and find a friend or two. And stop being "That Guy".
- matthew2398, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1hahaha who cares what somones user name is? matthew2398 has been my username since high school why change it?
- magicaltrevor, on 05/07/2008, -2/+89Apparently, he needs more time to play it.
- BlueSkyfish, on 05/07/2008, -15/+195"It's what remembering that all reviews are subject to personal opinion, and if you personally enjoy the game, then you shouldn't let it get to you."
This. Now STFU. I personally love Brawl, but I'm not going on a crusade against one guy because he says he doesn't like it.- yohnstoppable, on 05/07/2008, -1/+26Thank you. People take this kind of ***** so damn seriously. I also love brawl, and yahtzee hating it won't make me enjoy it any less.
Yahtzee is awesome, because he isn't ***** objective. When I play a game, I'm sure as hell not ***** objective. I don't analyze graphics, sounds, character development, longevity, etc, etc, etc. I look for how fun a game is. If the game is fun I like it. If it is really fun, I love it. If I don't have fun, I ***** hate it. Period. The only factors in my joy out of a game are what is fun, and what ***** me off- ace429k, on 05/07/2008, -2/+2you guys are great! i'm totally with ya. i like Brawl, and ppl bitch about it. so...ah...dont play it? that seems like a good idea!
- daizaru, on 05/07/2008, -3/+22I can't wait for him to do GTA 4. Only because he's going to ***** off 10x as many fanboys. That game has so much fodder for him to use it's almost not funny. Hopefully they'll be able to look back at this and not freak out... maybe he was planning for that all along.
- Langolas, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3You mean hes going to talk about beating hookers like baby seals, killing people from random ethnic groups and make fun of all the bugs?
Sounds like an awesome review I'm in. - Funkleft, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1I guess I'd just like someone to say what's BAD about the game, that's all. Every thing I've seen on it is praise for the good stuff, but there's no perfect game. I just want to know what's bad.
- B3000, on 05/08/2008, -1/+2Whats bad about GTA4 - It is still just GTA only prettier, there aren't nearly as many things to do as there were in San Andreas and tending to all your friends gets really tedious (In fact it feels a bit like the Sims). That said, it is still pretty fantastic over all. I give it about an 8.5
- xaxxon, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1THE DRIVING SUCKS! They attempted to do physics, but failed - painfully. Slow down to 2 mph before making any turn. And the brakes have got to be the worst ever. And in the dry weather, your car must have the most all-weather tires available but as soon as it starts raining, you've got slicks. Grr the driving sucks. Oh, and the camera angle SUCKS. Unless you LIKE looking up the tailpipe of every car you drive.
- Langolas, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3You mean hes going to talk about beating hookers like baby seals, killing people from random ethnic groups and make fun of all the bugs?

It's just grease covered fanboys that would have given SSBB a perfect score before even playing it. Don't let 'em get you down, Yahtzee. - yohnstoppable, on 05/07/2008, -1/+8Good call on people giving perfect scores before even playing a game. Remember the ***** over the Twilight Princess review before the game even came out? Hell, I regularly browse a certain forum for Warhammer Online beta leaks, and I see people who aren't in the beta bitching at people in the beta for criticisms. It is hilarious that someone not even playing a game yet is such a fanboy that they'll shout down people playing it for something they don't like (PS: I think it will be good, but it needs work. we'll see)

- CyclonusRIP, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Galaxy was actually a pretty good game though. Once you put it on the scale where Twilight Princess and SSBB are getting near perfect scores you don't really have a lot of room to call something better before going for a perfect score. At least with Galaxy though innovated some. All these other old franchises really are just updating the graphics and adding a few features that don't really add to the game, or in some cases take away from it. If I were a reviewer I would never give a game a glowing review that didn't substantially advance the genre.

- arobicha, on 05/07/2008, -2/+17He was talking about the clear statistical difference most countries have in employment rates and mean salaries between racial groups. Now THAT should have been clear... Example: http://nces.ed.gov/programs/quarterly/vol_4/4_4/q4 ...
- daizaru, on 05/07/2008, -4/+24It was racist but only in a silly way, kind of like Americans constantly mock Canadians and the rest of the world constantly mocks Americans. They don't really mean it but it's just offensive enough to illicit a response
It is kind of hypocritical though in the sense that his Uncharted review was centered around racism, but then again maybe that was the point. Just take it in stride, it's nothing to revolt over... as a white person I also said to myself "Did he just say what I think he said?" and then chuckled. Not because I believed it to be true but because he went there.- ParticleMan420, on 05/07/2008, -4/+2except 'American' and 'Canadian' aren't races

- jiveturkeyblues, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4i don't think he was mocking people of color- it really is true, for ***** up reasons, people who aren't white don't make as much money as people who are white. i didn't hear it like, "haha black people are poor, i'm better than them!"

- VinnieDaMac, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3Surprisingly it was Gamestop, but there was a special deal where you got an extra 20% trade in credit if you traded something in toward GTA. Normally, I would have only gotten $35.

This weeks fad = GTAIV
Step 1: Bash older fad
Step 2: Praise newer fad
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Dugg up
....Digg has been so stale lately.- LordofChaosIori, on 05/07/2008, -3/+6I completely agree with you. Digg has become more trendy than Japanese schoolgirls. -__-
- petebot, on 05/07/2008, -1/+9mmmmm...japanese schoolgirls...
What?
- petebot, on 05/07/2008, -1/+9mmmmm...japanese schoolgirls...
- coheedcollapse, on 05/07/2008, -0/+8GTAIV isn't a fad. It has lasting gameplay with a meaningful storyline. I picked up brawl and played through SE once, following that, I played a few times with friends and was finished. There's really much less to that game than everyone claims unless you're a trophy whore.
GTA, on the other hand, has a compelling story line that I'll play through the end (it'll take me much longer than it took me to beat SE by the way), and when I'm finished I still have like 15 multiplayer modes with the gigantic city plus all of the sidequests and random stuff. I can guarantee you I'll be playing GTA much longer.
That said, I agree with your sentiment. There are weird trends that Digg users pick up and they just won't shut up about no matter what the reality is. They'll also digg your comment down no matter the validity.- thzae, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3Yeah, I absolutely agree with you. The intention of my comment wasn't even to criticize GTA or praise Brawl, I honestly don't feel strongly towards either of them. I'm just tired of the people jumping on bandwagons.
- allthosemoments, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Well surprise, GTAIV has better single player than Brawl. I certainly don't think a game that really only has multiplayer deserves perfect scores but I think critizing Brawl via SSE is completelt dishonest. Melee was a classic game despite weak single player because of the depth of its multiplayer.

- chillypacman, on 05/08/2008, -1/+2>GTAIV isn't a fad.
The internets principle of existence is fads, remember gamespot being the epitome of evil? Mike Gravel? Ron Paul? Obama? Oh wait, what?
I laugh at the fad of the day and at people who defend them.- coheedcollapse, on 05/08/2008, -2/+1So is that why you have an 80's arcade icon prominently displayed in your username? Have you really been playing Pacman recently, or do you want to appeal to the "fad" that vintage gaming has become on the internet and otherwise?
I'm not defending anything, but the fact that an honestly great game is getting a ***** of press on a community comprised of a majority of techy/gamer/geeks does not make it a "fad". Portal quotes were a fad, as were sparta quotes, as is rick rolling, as are lolcats. None of which have any substance to them (other than portal being an excellent game, but people rarely talked about the actual game when quoting it.)- chillypacman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+3Actually chillypacman was suggested to me by the hotmail name suggestor thing years and years ago, I googled it and found no one else on the internets was using it.
So many years have come and gone now multiple accounts have chillypacman... the internet... she steals my uniqueness :(

- LordofChaosIori, on 05/07/2008, -3/+6I completely agree with you. Digg has become more trendy than Japanese schoolgirls. -__-
- fakeplasticsnow, on 05/07/2008, -4/+2Same here. I've spent more time playing GTA 4 in the last week than I did with Brawl for a month.
- YellowSnowDemon, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5I got a much better deal than you. I play and enjoy Brawl, I'm not a fanboy, and I purchased GTA IV with my SSBB tournament winnings. Win-win.
- Sornos, on 05/07/2008, -2/+37I want to know what store gave you that deal. Most places I go laugh at fair deals. It's usually
- firebirdx01, on 05/07/2008, -3/+145I'm glad he addresses how video game scores really don't mean squat. They could give GTA4 11/10 and 9.9 and 9.5915 and no one would understand what the hell that bloody means.
- Balks, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1Not like they would give a flying ***** even if it was given an 11/10, 9.9 and 9.5915. They'd still go out and buy the game because it's GTA4.
- Radan, on 05/07/2008, -2/+9This is actually what I like the most with Yahtzee's reviews; he simply tells you right away what he thinks about the game and even compares it with other games, instead of simply throwing in a random number with all too many significant figures.
Why the hell do they use a ten point rating system anyway? What does it matter if a game gets 2/10 or 5/10? Both scores practically means that the game is beyond rubbish anyway.
Seven out of ten pretty much means that the game is worth buying, and eight and nine means it's actually good.
Ten, aka Nintendo Game, practically means nothing as the game has most likely been hyped up beyond recognition which automatically grants it this rating, no matter how good the game actually is. - BlackJackJester, on 05/07/2008, -2/+8Thats why the Hellboy scale for rating games is far superior. How many times better is it than Hellboy? 100? 200 times better? Very easily understood.
- MiDri, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1That sounds to similar to my McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure scale, I'm suing you buddy!
- chewties, on 05/07/2008, -8/+1By the way, he will be reviewing gta IV soon.
- RobotCitizen, on 05/08/2008, -1/+4"But... it goes up to eleven."
- allthosemoments, on 05/08/2008, -2/+1I completely disagree. I don't understand how game scores are useless. The implication seems to be that people only look at scores and never read a review or anything else about the game, which is retarded. Yahtzee simply isn't a real reviewer, he is amusing, but just another asshole with a soap box like Maddox.
- musicfreak87, on 05/07/2008, -12/+6BRILLIANT!

he has an insane amount of valid points - even the christopher reeve one. Quit being so sensitive.- Jsmuli2, on 05/07/2008, -2/+4His christopher reeve one was wrong and I will tell you why.
He basically (to what i remember) said that hes a prick for not caring about paralysis till it happened to him. That's just *****. So now everyone is an asshole when they get some disease or disability? It's inhuman to be 110% proactive about everything that can possibly go wrong in anyones life.
Since when does Maddox set the standards of who's an asshole and who isn't? He talks like everything is fact, not opinion.
Quit being so sensitive.

- Kyral, on 05/07/2008, -6/+35Ahh the weekly dose of Yahtzee. I swear sometimes it is the only thing to look forward to on Wednesday.
He's right about Brawl. It's a decent game, but not the end all "OMFG AWESOME" fest that almost everyone around me seems to think it is. Gimme Portal anyday :)- Jsmuli2, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1you cant compare portal to brawl, mainly because portal requires actual thinking, as opposed to brawl which you can play and enjoy drunk off your ass.

- mattletron, on 05/07/2008, -0/+45I could never deal with the amount of idiotic email Yahtzee must receive. I don't understand why if you like a game, you feel that you need to crusade against everyone who doesn't like it. Just shut up and bask in the dim glow of your TV and complain to your mum when she brings you your dinner.
- ilves7, on 05/07/2008, -0/+8if I was him I would delete about ~90% of all email I got, read a couple of the remaining, and ignore the retards
- DrDrrae, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3I agree with you but the same is true about those who don't like a particular game going around bashing those who do like that particular game. Different strokes for different folks.

- Lenbot, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Yup Halo 3 was the same for Me The Only completely interesting part in the entire game was fighting up the little pyramid thing and I don't even know why, perhaps the replay value was cool. But what do you expect in a series something new or the same old *****.
- metaliq, on 05/08/2008, -1/+1I tried. I really did...
- MMaster23, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1wow .. you bought Halo 3
- Sornos, on 05/07/2008, -13/+28Ok.
- Fozefy, on 05/07/2008, -16/+4While I agree SSBB is only average for a fighting game. The fact is Yahtzee seems against 3D fighters, I doubt he would ever give any fighter a good review. Some people like fighters and he doesn't, which is blatantly obvious when he says someone smashing on the controller can beat you even after you've played for years. Also, he obviously didnt play for long because he says you can only unlock characters in single player and talks about how awful that is while characters are unlocked just from playing multiple brawl matches.
- Alphateam, on 05/07/2008, -5/+3Does anyone really take his "reviews" as a review?
I don't. While I enjoy them it is more for entertainment....as a hard review...no.
So calm down. - bagboyrebel, on 05/07/2008, -2/+1well, Yahtzee was wrong about anyone being able to win by button mashing (he obviously has never seen a tournament level player), but he was right that it's stupid to have to unlock characters.

- Lixie, on 05/07/2008, -0/+48One of the few times someone could have used 'ironic' in proper context, and they pass it up.

- arobicha, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2You can tell by the way he reads that there is a slew of proper punctuation in his reviews. It's just so subtle that most 14 year old gamers don't hear it.
- daizaru, on 05/07/2008, -0/+15True, but it's named that because he talks so fast. Being a grammar nazi totally suits him.
- NathanielJ, on 05/07/2008, -2/+5Oh, THAT'S why it's named Zero Punctuation? I'm glad we got that cleared up.
- daizaru, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4Sarcasm noted, I woulda gone with a captain obvious comment though. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if some people hadn't put two and two together.

- PhilMoskowitz, on 05/07/2008, -3/+37This guy makes the internet a better place. If you can't just enjoy the review as a performance and not get all uppity when you disagree you really do belong at gamespot. All your games will get a 'good' review.

- McDeath, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7I hate some people for getting all upset when other individuals do not agree with them. It's private opinion; so if you don't like it then don't get all butt-hurt

- antonio97b, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1If it's private opinion why do you get butthurt over someone else's opinion about a guys opinion?
- FXPooky, on 05/07/2008, -3/+25Loved the fanboy comments. Fighting over entertainment (consoles, music, sports...) is one of the great pinnacles of stupidity.
- xsidekick409, on 05/07/2008, -7/+2Don't feed the trolls, just keep reviewing games.
- Renfer, on 05/07/2008, -4/+1lol, oh so very awesome. if you like a game, then it shouldnt matter what people say about it. bad review? dont read it. good review? woot, im going to get a new game.
- Dezekiel, on 05/07/2008, -14/+1The guy clearly does not even like the whole genre of fighting games based on his brawl review. So why bother?

- kingmanic, on 05/07/2008, -3/+8Video games scores: Are all 5 point systems at heart. 1= really bad ***** 2= mediocre ***** 3 = ***** that paid for advertising 4= fans will lynch you for any less, or ***** that paid very well 5= a decent game which also is your ad income for the month. If it looks like a 10 point system it's actually just a 5 point system but you have to add 5 to the base (6= really bad *****, 7=mediocre ***** etc...). If it's a % system multiply the above system by 20 and add a random number between -5 and 5.
- elegantjihad, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5That sure is a lot of numbers.
- GrubFisher, on 05/07/2008, -2/+1Yup, there's a reason for this being true. What is the first thing human beings started counting when they actually thought about it in a sentient "oh I'm counting numbers" sort of way? Their fingers. That's why numbers(and fingers!) are called digits. Hence, most human beings naturally think of things in sets of five, so scoring ultimately happens at the one hand five fingers level.
- pensivewombat, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3I prefer the two point *****-or-Brilliant scale.
- solinent, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4Which is essentially what you're getting with Yahtzee: either ***** or ***** he doesn't want to admit is good.
- SSCrow, on 05/07/2008, -11/+5Melee > Brawl.
If you don't agree with me you should go play Brawl and immediately flip over to Melee afterward. Its blatantly clear how much Nintendo ***** up the formula.- Jsmuli2, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4i disagree , Melee was good, but brawl has so much more to it, and the characters are so much more fun to use.
- weeman43302, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4As i said before Brawl > 64 > Melee
- Jsmuli2, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4i disagree , Melee was good, but brawl has so much more to it, and the characters are so much more fun to use.
- sugarazor, on 05/07/2008, -1/+6Oh it's so amusing to watch fanboys get the mirror held in front of their faces courtesy of Yahtzee. The whole rant about this being a balanced console generation, why crusade for a game unless you have an inkling of doubt about how good you've made yourself think it is, and even if you do genuinely like the game, shouldn't that be enough - spot-on everything that's wrong with the "gaming community" these days.
- kingmanic, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5I'd agree, each one of the current three has a niche. It's just where you sit determines which one you'll like. Wii is a god send when people are around or my GF is bored. The PS3 is my media center / PS2. The 360 is from studios which sold their souls to MS, as well as having pre adolescents insult me with words they haven't bothered to look up.
pre-adolescent: Noob, I just feltched your mother!
me: you enjoy the taste of cum and *****?
pre-adolescent: No faggot I don't
me: Then why are you eating cum and ***** out of the ass of a senior citizen? twit....
Apparently I'm not a 360 person, but I have to admit they have the best Online. If only there was a "sterilize potty mouthed 13 year old" It'd be perfect.

- elegantjihad, on 05/07/2008, -5/+24I actually LOL'd at this one. I love Smash Bros, but god dammit if I don't ***** HATE Nintendo fanboys.
- DarkShroud, on 05/07/2008, -2/+3Agreed, I've been a Nintendo fan since the NES hit US shores. And I can honestly say they have only a few games that actually deserve praise. I bought my GC for Zelda. The items that got the most use were RE4 & the attachment that allows me to play all of my non-DS gameboy games on my TV.

- KMartSheriff, on 05/08/2008, -1/+1It makes me sad really cuz I'm the same way. I love Nintendo but its fanboys are some of the worst out there.
- MMaster23, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1i agree .. i got the wii launch day-1 .. liking the first-party games and just absolutely love the entire Zelda serie.
But man .. wii games SUCK BALLS .. almost every nintendo title is ok (SSBB, Zelda, Mario etc) but all other are some 10$ crap.
Hate it when people defend it. That said .. I'm still planning my bombing of the IGN headquarters because of that lame ass April fool's joke :@
