      "I can understand why Yahtzee doesn't like this game and the tons of fanboy email requests probably made him even more ***** at it, but there wasn't really much of a review here. From a purely objective standpoint as a game, SSBB is actually quite a superb game (as you can tell by reading reviews). Very well balanced characters, endless variety, fast paced, easy to learn yet impossible to master gameplay, etc.

      Anyways, you either love it or you hate it. I guess this review wasn't meant to and won't change anyone's opinion about the game. But at least Yahtzee has tried it before forming an opinion. I bet most of the bashers posting here don't even have a Wii and have never even played SSBB before."

I don't analyze graphics, sounds, character development, longevity, etc, etc, etc. I look for how fun a game is. If the game is fun I like it. If it is really fun, I love it. And in the dry weather, your car must have the most all-weather tires available but as soon as it starts raining, you've got slicks. Grr the driving sucks. Oh, and the camera angle SUCKS. Unless you LIKE looking up the tailpipe of every car you drive.

I picked up brawl and played through SE once, following that, I played a few times with friends and was finished. There's really much less to that game than everyone claims unless you're a trophy whore.

        GTA, on the other hand, has a compelling story line that I'll play through the end (it'll take me much longer than it took me to beat SE by the way), and when I'm finished I still have like 15 multiplayer modes with the gigantic city plus all of the sidequests and random stuff. I can guarantee you I'll be playing GTA much longer.

        That said, I agree with your sentiment. There are weird trends that Digg users pick up and they just won't shut up about no matter what the reality is. They'll also digg your comment down no matter the validity.

      Ten, aka Nintendo Game, practically means nothing as the game has most likely been hyped up beyond recognition which automatically grants it this rating, no matter how good the game actually is.

  • kingmanic, on 05/07/2008, -3/+8Video games scores: Are all 5 point systems at heart. 1= really bad ***** 2= mediocre ***** 3 = ***** that paid for advertising 4= fans will lynch you for any less, or ***** that paid very well 5= a decent game which also is your ad income for the month. If it looks like a 10 point system it's actually just a 5 point system but you have to add 5 to the base (6= really bad *****, 7=mediocre ***** etc...). If it's a % system multiply the above system by 20 and add a random number between -5 and 5.

What is the first thing human beings started counting when they actually thought about it in a sentient "oh I'm counting numbers" sort of way? Their fingers. That's why numbers(and fingers!) are called digits. Hence, most human beings naturally think of things in sets of five, so scoring ultimately happens at the one hand five fingers level.

The whole rant about this being a balanced console generation, why crusade for a game unless you have an inkling of doubt about how good you've made yourself think it is, and even if you do genuinely like the game, shouldn't that be enough - spot-on everything that's wrong with the "gaming community" these days.

Wii is a god send when people are around or my GF is bored. The PS3 is my media center / PS2. The 360 is from studios which sold their souls to MS, as well as having pre adolescents insult me with words they haven't bothered to look up.

I bought my GC for Zelda. The items that got the most use were RE4 & the attachment that allows me to play all of my non-DS gameboy games on my TV.

      But man .. wii games SUCK BALLS .. almost every nintendo title is ok (SSBB, Zelda, Mario etc) but all other are some 10$ crap.
