- happytedium, on 01/23/2008, -33/+247I play WoW. 70 Warrior with 2k+ arena teams. It doesn't take up much of my time, really. I also have a girlfriend, a job, a car, a bunch of great friends, a healthy social life and lots of vitamin D. No shens. It's a hobby.
Everything in moderation. - HueytheFreeman, on 01/23/2008, -6/+217(what he doesn't tell you is that this is all in WoW)
- Aaronontheweb, on 01/23/2008, -13/+169says a digg user
- Tippx, on 01/23/2008, -43/+184confirmed: 10 million have little exposure to sunlight
- kiegh, on 01/23/2008, -4/+118With that kind of cash flow, maybe they could release some non-treadmill content.
- fungusmonkey, on 01/23/2008, -11/+106In Soviet Russia, gold farms you.
- dib2, on 01/23/2008, -4/+9010,000,000 suscribers * 14.99 a month =149,900,000 dollars a month in revenue. Big money making machine they got right there.
- Boing, on 01/23/2008, -3/+87I just quit, so they only have 9,999,999.
- daEvan, on 01/23/2008, -6/+85Why would WoW punch its subscribers?
- ForTheSteel, on 01/23/2008, -9/+83I knew a guy who got a 0.0 GPA the first semester at college because of WOW.
WOW. - HMTKSteve, on 01/23/2008, -5/+70Blizzard is still mum on how many of those 10 million are Chinesse gold farmers.
- voodoochild461, on 01/23/2008, -2/+58And blizzard still charges $25 for a character transfer
- Koushiro, on 01/23/2008, -2/+57Yeah, that's 10 million people not getting skin cancer! :D
- tdog138, on 01/23/2008, -3/+57I think your math may be a bit off there...
- Artemis11, on 01/23/2008, -3/+56Expect this to grow again when Blizzard releases WoW in Russia later this year.
- katrayun, on 01/23/2008, -10/+55Why are you being dugg down? There are plenty of people who can handle WoW as a hobby and have busy lives.
- joshuaer, on 01/23/2008, -1/+45i know i guy who did the same playing quake online back in 1999 it's nothing new!
- rock42, on 01/23/2008, -2/+4110mill = .2% of earth's pop
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -7/+46Im cancelling my subscription at the end of this month..Once you get to lvl 70, its either join a psychotic gang of raiders that requires a coordinated effort of 10 people +, or waste your time in a battlefield or arena getting gang raped with out strategy endlessly. I wish they made this game as fun as it was while leveling to 70, but after that it takes a time crunch that normal working individuals can't manage. I'd be interested to know how many of their subscriptions drop off after the level cap.
- kmcippant, on 01/23/2008, -3/+40Most people go home from work and watch stupid reality TV until they go to bed. I think if I'm playing WoW at least I'm getting some social interaction and doing something at least a little less mindless.
- Warcloud, on 01/23/2008, -2/+39Read the WoW forums sometime. You'll want to punch them all too.
- HueytheFreeman, on 01/23/2008, -0/+33Sweet! Only 62.5 million people are still alive? There's room for me now!
- bagelmaster, on 01/23/2008, -7/+39In Soviet Russia, you get killed for making stupid Soviet Russia jokes. And yes I realize the irony.
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -10/+4210 million? try closer to 5 million. for every normal person with an account, theres some Asian gold farmer with 3.
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -5/+35obviously since you have a life you must have no raid epics
- mogebier, on 01/23/2008, -1/+31They said that 5.5 million are in Asia.
So 5.5 million is your answer.
:) - agsinger, on 01/23/2008, -7/+37how do you kill that which has no life
- Ajenthavoc, on 01/23/2008, -1/+30Try .167% of the world.
- MindTrigger, on 01/23/2008, -5/+31Quake required skill. You can actually watch a movie, eat dinner, talk on skype, IM and rub one out to some porn while playing WoW.
- shaelen, on 01/23/2008, -5/+30I don't understand why it matters to you, or anybody else, what other people do for entertainment. Why does anybody care if other people they don't even know are playing a game in their basement, kitchen, speedboat or wherever?
- fuzzmeister, on 01/23/2008, -0/+25It may cost a lot, but it's nowhere close to 149 million.
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -4/+29Addictive tendencies are not created by wow. One has to have them already.
It's like blaming a pavement for a homeless guy sitting on it.
Wow can perfectly easily be played occasionally. - newl, on 01/23/2008, -5/+29You're just a figment of our imagination. You don't exist on Digg. We forget you, Queen Mab.
- Logicexe, on 01/23/2008, -2/+25And for everyone person who gets addicted there are a few thousand who play it casually and don't ***** up their lives at all. The problem is not with WoW, the problem is with the people who can't prioritize their lives.
- Boor, on 01/23/2008, -0/+23Up until a couple of minutes before this comment WoW was listed on wikipedia as being the worlds 81st most populated country, unfortunately (maybe fortunately) someone fixed it.
- happytedium, on 01/23/2008, -4/+26lol : )
- sfcaptainrob, on 01/23/2008, -0/+22Dugg for the glass is half full attitude.
- codyman, on 01/23/2008, -3/+24Am I literally the only person who has not played this game yet? I've seen people playing it before but honestly I have never played it or even tried it...
- saminfused, on 01/23/2008, -0/+21someone doesn't know what a monopoly is.
- juicebag, on 01/23/2008, -2/+22That's not because of WoW, that's because he's a ***** who can't manage both video games and schoolwork.
- frsrblch, on 01/23/2008, -7/+27Alrighty, now try raiding and say that again.
- thedragon4453, on 01/23/2008, -1/+21I call it a "fortress of solitude."
- Tenareth, on 01/23/2008, -1/+20And then they do horrible atrocious things with that money, like hire people and then pay them. GOD PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!
- BigRedCube, on 01/23/2008, -6/+2410 Million Dwarf Polishers
- GhostyBoy, on 01/23/2008, -0/+18That was the first thing I have ever heard that has made me want to actually pick the game up and play.
- mchugh22, on 01/23/2008, -0/+17he said income not profit
- frsrblch, on 01/23/2008, -7/+24In Soviet Russia, mob grinds you!
- Eira, on 01/23/2008, -3/+20The thing about WoW is that when you have it, you suddenly find yourself not having anything else to do. When you unsubscribe and delete it from your computer, you suddenly have so many more things to do.
- inactive, on 01/23/2008, -1/+18its 10 million ACCOUNTS. lots of people have more than 1 account. they have no way of knowing how many actual people play the game.
- spect3r, on 01/23/2008, -0/+17Could you imagine what it would be like if people could move for free?
