- Munk3y, on 06/30/2009, -5/+186This would have been useful for me like 2 years ago!!
- Bangaarang, on 06/30/2009, -16/+157For the Horde!
- lolwatermelon, on 06/30/2009, -12/+128Are you for real? Alliance outnumbers Horde on every single server I have a hordie on.
- ianzu, on 06/30/2009, -8/+114You know, you don't have to do it.
They charge people to change servers or names. I haven't wanted to do any of those things, so I haven't been charged.
You seem to be complaining about a company that operates for profit, offering more choices to their customers. So what? I always thought that was a good thing.
It's not like they're being disingenuous or shady. They're actually giving people a choice they've been asking for. Bastards! - magnus3d, on 06/30/2009, -0/+106Probably attempt to insert larger objects up his rectum...
- ogletree, on 06/30/2009, -1/+101lol you said "Hordie On"
- fattehboi, on 06/30/2009, -6/+98All the 12 year olds are gonna go over to horde now....
too bad I'm free from this drug you call a game - InvaderDem, on 06/30/2009, -8/+100Honestly, Blizzard needs to stick to their rules. Originally you couldn't change sides, servers, server types (PvE to PvP), looks, etc. And now you can do all of those - for a price. Don't get me wrong, they can do what they want, but when they tell us in the past that they'll never do it, and then do it ... it just makes them look like they're trying to get even more money out of subscribers. As if millions a month of monthly fees aren't enough.
- Canadianinjapan, on 06/30/2009, -1/+77players can now jump sharks too
- theaceoffire, on 06/30/2009, -1/+75"It just makes them look like they're trying to get even more money out of subscribers."
That sounds logical.
Coming up next: Skip to level 80 for $800! - hypogenic, on 06/30/2009, -1/+63You cannot kill that which has no life.
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -36/+96Its just 1 more reason to charge ppl. So glad i quit.
- skyjis6, on 06/30/2009, -2/+53I've loved Blizzard's ingenuity and story telling ability since Diablo uno. This is great news... but since i'm WoW drug free (been clean for 2 years now) i'll pass. I will be picking up StarCraft II thoooough...
- XtheXlanternX, on 06/30/2009, -10/+56I'm glad I stopped playing WoW while it was still bearable. The game was great when it came out. I spent hours upon hours just exploring and having a great time with friends (real life and virtual). Ever since then, every change has destroyed all role playing value and all sense of community. This just continues the bastardization of what used to be one of the top 5 MMOs of all time.
- phydeaux70, on 06/30/2009, -3/+47There are details missing about this such as the cost and what restrictions there will be.
For some people who have several high level characters this will give them a chance to see different aspects of the game without leveling a character from 1-80. Some of the reasons for having professions is to enable your other characters with the use of your professions. But completely starting over on a new side after years is a chore that will take too many hours to do, so I would welcome this change just for the novelty of it.
Fact it, Blizzard knows that this game is losing customers.
1. Because WoW is 5 years old.
2. New Blizzard games coming out.
3. At higher levels the only thing you play the game for is gear, even that gets old.
The game is a cash cow, and that is the only reason to do this, to keep the cash flowing. - MeatMountain, on 06/30/2009, -16/+57Anything for a dollar. New features in the pipeline: $25 for 1000 Gold. $25 for a max level character. $25 for a full set of epic gear. $25 to win a Battleground that's taking too long. $25 for a giant flying Pegasus mount covered in flashing LED's that periodically spell out LOOK AT HOW AWESOME I AM on it's ass while you AFK because when you get past the grinding there is very little fun gameplay to be had in WoW.
- CoreyTamas, on 06/30/2009, -2/+39We'll put a little gold star on the fridge for you.
- Chrysalii, on 06/30/2009, -1/+36Last I checked, a business only has one responsibility.
Make money, and make more every fiscal cycle.
Welcome to capitalism, enjoy your stay. - juicebag, on 06/30/2009, -1/+35It's not that hard to just play on a PvE server if you don't like random PvP.
- CanadaMan87, on 06/30/2009, -4/+37So Blizzard is, again, cheapening WoW. Keep on making it easier, quicker, more forgiving, gotta keep grabbing more users - this cash cow isn't dry yet.
- tEhKewleSt, on 06/30/2009, -0/+29But which Mountain Dew am I supposed to drink!?
- leetninja, on 06/30/2009, -2/+30i love how the majority of posts are people reaffirming their reason(s) for quitting WoW. I don't play anymore but I don't really have any reason for not doing so. It was a great game when I was playing. I think that this switch up thing is pretty bogus though. Way to ruin the game Blizzard.
- rabidbob, on 06/30/2009, -4/+31Five, years ago WoW was catering to the casual players. If you want hard core go play original EQ. WoW was such a breath of fresh air because it didn't make everything arbitrarily hard. Hell you can call flight paths "catering to the casual, half retarded players" compared to the hell of running a level 10 character from Queynos to Freeport. If you EVER thought WoW was for hardcore then you need a reality check; I was there at the ***** start when the Bliz devs were in the EQ beta. The upshot? WoW is twenty times the game EQ ever was.
- dillona, on 06/30/2009, -1/+27You know all of that time you spent going from 1 to 22? Eventually it will take that much time to level once. Let me know how much you're enjoying it then.
- LumpOfCole, on 06/30/2009, -4/+29No please. The Alliance can keep their stronghold of 10 year olds.
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -37/+62Wtf are you serious? Not only does that ruin the lore aspect, but we will have a 5-1 Horde to Alliance ratio rather than 3-1! So many Alliance would switch to Horde because they'd be tired of getting pwned so bad.
- andrewlotta, on 06/30/2009, -1/+25More than 11 million people give a damn about WoW.
Fortunately for me, I am not one of those people. - Lamblor, on 06/30/2009, -4/+25Uh, I think people misunderstand what the faction change is...
You will have to change your race to fit in with which ever side you move to, it's not going to let Orcs roam Stormwind and Gnomes hangout in Undercity. - Mike17102, on 06/30/2009, -0/+20Half of those 10 year olds rolled BE Retnubs at TBC, and the other half rolled BE Gripgards at LK.
The Horde is equally full of suck now. - CoreyTamas, on 06/30/2009, -1/+21There's some virtue in it being harder, slower and less forgiving?
It's a game. Not a college degree. - AZExile, on 06/30/2009, -0/+19there were girls at your LANs?
We were clearly doing it wrong... - bezz, on 06/30/2009, -2/+20Time to go spam the trade cha...... oh yeah server down for weekly 3-11 am maintenance.
- volt1234, on 06/30/2009, -4/+21They gave into the whiners.
- apec766, on 06/30/2009, -1/+17The next MMO is going to be a new universe. This has already been confirmed.
- IHaveIssues, on 06/30/2009, -1/+17Maybe we'll have another fake video in response to this.
- goshdang, on 06/30/2009, -0/+15everybody loves a good 3-way
- Jeepinator, on 06/30/2009, -0/+15ripple: You are stupid. Playing a game in moderation really means you are just doing it when you find yourself bored and without anything else to do. You are doing it purely for fun.
- Jeremyz0r, on 06/30/2009, -2/+17Funny, everyone on horde has that opinion of Alliance players. It's rare to find anyone under the age of 21.
- juicebag, on 06/30/2009, -4/+19WoW's entire userbase is full of immature morons who think the other side is a bunch of little kids.
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -2/+17Letting players switch sides in an MMO for a small fee is completely destructive to society?
- Jeremyz0r, on 06/30/2009, -0/+14Humans and Night Elfs?
- nismerf, on 06/30/2009, -1/+15A While ago I quit WoW. The game got kinda boring to me, 2 hours of fishing and fabricating to fix my gear, so I can PVP in a system that gives epic pvp gear to raiders. I keep up with the news though, looking for an excuse to join back up, I miss it really, but it just does not spark my interests anymore. The fact that you can switch faction though, its just not enough. It, dare I say, almost detracts from the game. I played on the pvp servers where it would really make more of a difference so. I guess I will keep waiting...
- HellifIno, on 06/30/2009, -1/+14You realize the game is a fair bit larger now than it was when it came out? Staring at my screen for 5-10 minutes looking at places I've already been doesn't add to the game experience in the least.
- ModernDayDarwin, on 06/30/2009, -0/+13and that's why they pay their employees in gold bullion.
- Gankfest, on 06/30/2009, -1/+14You mean aside from the 10 million subscribers who are basically all in the Digg readership demographic?
- CaptMonkey, on 06/30/2009, -1/+13Newer servers tend to have more horde because they added Blood Elves to that side. Go look at the race breakdowns for horde on any server brought online post-BC. Blood elves are far and away the most popular race on the horde, before them, horde was always outnumbered.
- Juice7, on 06/30/2009, -0/+12I know what you mean. I think the magic ended when they started handing out arena gear that ***** on the raiding gear, leaving little incentive to raid. It was good for the people who don't play as much because you could play a fraction of the time and get the best gear, but took the pride out of raiding and having a good guild to raid with.
- morepowerr, on 06/30/2009, -2/+13I would rather have them join a 3 group. Made up of races from the other 2. Nothing as nuts as a 3 way battle.
- ganglartoronto, on 06/30/2009, -0/+11Good point, the only point really that makes sense. People will argue that it goes against lore, but really, unless you're a extreme nerd that RP's you wont care. The RPers will QQ to no end!
