- zanderw00t, on 10/11/2007, -2/+29I stopped after I saw San Andreas on the list.

- lesty420, on 10/11/2007, -1/+21Jezzball!
- BLyn, on 10/11/2007, -5/+23I was about to complain about how they're missing Battletoads... then i realized it's only PC games.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17Man, I miss AVP, that ***** was intense.
- Urusai, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14System Shock 2 is a great game...but not hard. I had a harder time with the average RPG back in the days before automaps became ubiquitous. You actually had to bust out the quadrille paper and pencil, which luckily was seldom in short supply due to DnD. No, I'm not still a virgin.
- 1773nium, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15How in the hell did they upload a 69 minute video to youtube for Far Cry?
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14read the title.
- markperia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13spider solitaire. Im horribly bad at it =(
Takes me hours... - MatttK, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14Yeah, I'm sure we could collectively come up with at least fifty games harder than San Andreas. This list is lame. :/
- Dumbledorito, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14Dunno if they made anything for PC, but during the Amiga days, just about anything from Psygnosis inspired symphonies of profanity from everyone playing them.
- TheRingmaster, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12***** the hover bike level straight to farthest reaches of the universe!
- ricree, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Oh come on. The hoverbike level wasn't that bad once you've played it a couple thousand times and completely memorize every inch of the track. ;)
- LordofChaosIori, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14...is right there at #4.
- KnightMareInc, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13sounds like somebody sucks at pc games. What a lame list
- ALBIN0RHIN0, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Ever try and beat the final volcano level on the hardest difficulty? I can't tell you how many times i had to reload the checkpoint on that one.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+16Farcry?
- tavisjohn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Final Doom, and Farcry? What a joke!!! I beat both of those with only a month's time invested. (A couple of hours a day)
Want a hard game? Try Mean Streets for DOS! That suker said on the BOX that it would take a minimum of 80 hours to beat it! After more than 160 hours of play, I finally had all the passcards and passwords to dissable the doomsday machine. However 2 of the passcards were FAKE ONES!!!!!!
I never did beat the game, after THAT mutch time invested, and the fact that I could not go back and search for the real passcards, as the doomsday machine went off!!! I just could NOT go back and start it all over again. - draebor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9X-Com: Terror from the Deep... hardest game ever on anything but the easy setting.
- bIuebonics, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8myst and riven were probably some of the most challenging games ever. nothing on this list even comes close.
- stonedgeek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8It's not that hard. Just long
- Ladon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6And the Myst series. They actually require thought as well. Even though most people just play them for the pretty pictures...
- Treshnell, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10GTA:SA wasn't hard at all. Should have put something in that spot like Tribes (1). Not so hard to play, but wicked steep learning curve to be even remotely competitive.
Tribes 1! - tensvb, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Where is NetHack?
- malbolgias, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6clik-clik-clik
Not so hard. - Shenanigans, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Hurray for another top 10 list!
- psxman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Eh, all games become PC games eventually. :)
- CyberBlade, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Leisure suit larry 1?
now THAT was a thinking game.. cause you had to guess what the hell to do next... :P - bIuebonics, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4most of the puzzles from the 11th hour should be up there...
- Tastetheradness, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4no JA2?
- Racerx52, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4it is a fairly good list. Except for SA, i agree that didn't belong.
- ALBIN0RHIN0, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Armed assault definitely deserves to be on the list; however, I'm surprised Ghost Recon (esp Island Thunder) isn't on the list. Those games were frustrating on the hardest difficulty.
- MrSteamTank, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Haha homeworld 2. Thats funny. Homeworld 2 had a broken ai. Their army would always consist of whatever you had + 1. So if you went from mission to mission with almost no fleet you could win simply by building ships during a battle. Not only that but you'd save money so you could keep ship construction constant. If you were silly and actually built a big fleet you'd get creamed because you blew all your resources on ships which the enemy will magically get an equal amount of.
I don't think a game that encourages poor play should be on the top 10 hardest list of games. - felyduw, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Any Civ on the hardest setting is extremely difficult because the computers "cheat". They really do. It gets ridiculous when you're on 2000 bc and a tank appears near your only village.
- aywwts4, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Homeworld2 is a great game, the first space game that I know of that wasn't restricted to a 2D plane, you could really move your fleet far far "up" and far far "down" and attack from "above" and "below" at the same time, Worked great in multiplayer because people are so used to looking around them, not above them, against the computers it was mainly a handicap to your own performance.
- bIuebonics, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4i think he means RTS...
- feelgoodinc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4AvP was absolutely ***** insane. The first time I loaded it up I was sweating for a good hour after playing it. For those of us who experience the original, the intensity nor the sheer difficulty of the game cannot be understated. If you ***** up, you were done for. Period.
I had big hopes for AvP 2 but alas it fell by the waist side.... - sathias, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I would have thought Farcry as well, until I saw a mate of mine crank it up to Realistic the first time he played it, and just breezed through it. Freak
- mst3kcrow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4How I hated those facehuggers. Only killed me once but I hated the little bastards, kill them with fire or nades. You'd hear clicking noises on the floor and just think "Awww *****, where is it" Nice thing was that they didn't spawn like normal aliens so once they were cleared in an area, they were gone for good.
- pixelface, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Dugg down for 11 pages
- noots, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Project IGI for the PC, 2 bullets and you were dead, missions involved attacking entire military bases with very limited ammo, by yourself, no saves, no checkpoints, increased security after an alarm was triggered resulted in the constant respawning of "special forces". You died and had to restart the entire level. Missions took about 2/3 hours due to the intense planning and judgment you had to apply. I never finished it.
- ThePags, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I definitely think it is "The Sims", I can never win.
- Ferion, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Damn right, how could they forget nethack?
- CyberBlade, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3your so right there. i got battletoads for my bday when i was five.. im now 20.. and i still havent finished that game :(
but i still have the cartridge and my old nes ready to go every now and then when i attack it. best level i got to was level 7 (warp 1>3>5>7)
i cried myself to sleep to see the SD Archives... and there it was, completed in a matter of minutes!!!
but i will agree. that game was so hard and one i hold dear to me! - 1773nium, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I had to google that ***** as I have never EVER heard of it. After reading several reviews I want to see some screen shots from it. Sounds interesting. I HIGHLY doubt the writers of the article have ever played it.
- blatantninja, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3No doubt, I remember trying Civ2 ont he hardest setting once. Once. I got nuked before the birth of Christ.
- bIuebonics, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3oh please, myst and riven were hard as hell... none of these games come even close. of course, myst and riven were probably left out because they actually require to to think...
