- andregriffin, on 10/11/2007, -6/+23@AegisGFX - That's a good way to revolt.
NO ONE USE THE REPLY BUTTON! - andregriffin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Allow me to show you how serious I was.
/reply button. - Tenetri, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Single life has its advantages...
Im so lonely :( - StingerMS, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9I logged in to tell you that you're an idiot.
Too bad no one will ever see it with this new comment system.
Either way, the deed is done. - narcosis219, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Do you live in Korea?
If you do, then I honestly don't know whats wrong with you. Maybe you're that 5th dentist that doesn't recommend Colgate Total. - eriksr, on 10/11/2007, -14/+21@Dreamfiend
Aw c'mon, you'll buy the game and play it for a few hours, realize you'll never find the time to finish it, and end up storing it away "for a rainy day" like the rest of us :P - LR2_, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Hmm, when you get Starcraft II play it twice as much and you normally would. That way when she complains you can cut down your play time by 50% and give her the impression that you are sacrificing.
- Godlike, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Digg NEEDS nested comments. They just need to change the default display type. Almost all of you are confused over what nested comments actually means.
- legendxx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6wtf eriksr, .. talk about comment abuse, if you're replying to someone than do it.. dont start a new comment
- civdis24, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Honestly, I kinda think this looks like it won't be nearly as good as the original. It's definitely too soon to say for sure, but they're changing some of the things that made the game so great! For one, just based on the protoss units, they're making too many 'magical' feats or spells or whatever you want to call it. The beauty of the original was its perfect balance of simplicity and function. This looks like they are adding too much function which sacrifices the simplicity. Plus the graphics look kinda cartoonish like WC3.... I fear this is going to be like a Starcraft version of WC3....
Still hoping for the best though. - mlock2k, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I am sure i will too be forced into divorce court when this game drops. Can I sleep on someones couch and use there high speed internet ?
- meamog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Well, it's really hard to describe. The story is excellent, you actually end up caring about the characters, the races and units are perfectly balanced, the art style was/is fantastic and somewhat original, fantastic multiplayer, etc. It's a bona-fide classic.
- djg38, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Yeah, but chess doesn't keep running at 640x480 on increasingly larger screens. The game needs an upgrade, and they recognize the need to keep it the same at the core.
- nathanwalker, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Ew. High res scans + digg = dead server.
- eriksr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Aw gosh fellas, I wasn't trying to game the system. I'm not a super regular Digg user so I wasn't aware of the new system, plus, I always sort comments by "Most Diggs" anyway so as to avoid crap. I'll be more diligent next time :)
- messiah420, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Yea wtf are you talking about....Its all about the multiplayer son.
- xDcSx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Well, if you're not into RTSs I don't know if any one game would change your mind. The game has three completely distinct races that play very differently but are still very balanced. In most games with 3 or more races they have a lot of similarities between eachother or are poorly balanced. The difference between a good and a great player is huge in Starcraft, it's the ultimate "easy to learn, impossible to master" game. A lot of players compare it to chess. I think one professional player once said, "They didn't know it at the time, but they created chess on the computer."
But basically, just try it out. The graphics are very dated at this point (640x480 only) but it's still very popular, fun, and addicting - yoshihama, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Also remember that it took Blizzard a LOT of patches to finally get StarCraft balanced, so I doubt they'll have perfect balance out of the gate. That said I agree with Battleloser, and I'm expecting this sequel to be a good game.
- Battleloser, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Normally I'd agree with you, but this is Blizzard, they know what makes a good game.
- Scoott2001, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Here comes another 6 months of anti-social tendencies... I can't wait = )
- otatop, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2From personal experience with StarCraft, I'll usually sit down to play it for a while, then realize that "while" has been 8 hours and I have to be at work in 2. God damn cyber-heroin...
- koolaird, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2you better be sarcastic.
this is starcraft 2. this is the second coming (at least in korea). rejoice. - xDcSx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2For those of you who still think there are multiplayer heroes in this game.
http://digg.com/pc_games/There_are_NO_Heroes_in_Multiplayer_Starcraft_II_magazine_scan
And about the graphics, the screenshots REALLY don't do them justice. Go download the High Quality gameplay trailer from starcraft2.com. It's definatley better than War3. - thescribster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Did... you play the original? Or any Blizzard game ever? Or has it been so long since you played it that you now believe the original Starcraft to be the paramount of realism? Seriously, every Blizzard game ever has had that certain stylized feel you've just passed off as "cartoonish."
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3You can borrow my dictionary to learn which 'their' is correct.
- TheBigBoss, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2lol nudar, you dont get the joke.
- Buckiller, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2and why are you not hitting reply?
- arcooke, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2As most RTS games.. there's loads of replay value. Each time you play can be completely different than the last time. I never liked RTS games until recently.. mostly because I was never very good at them. But once you start practicing and learning some good strategies, it makes it a million times more fun. What's even better is when you have a human teammate.. there's a lot you can do to work together which adds to the fun.
As for the graphics, I think it looks pretty good.. it's more of a comic style than realistic.
Right now I'm really big into Supreme Commander.. there's TONS of strategy involved in that game. - xDcSx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2There are NO BUILDABLE HEROES in this game. It's all blurring together now where I saw/heard it but I've read every piece of press / watched every interview so far and they have stated that.
- cphelps, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I have a futon and cable, but I can't guarantee how long it will last as I'll likely suffer the same fate.
- HydraTech, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@acetv
I think a lot of people are confusing the term "Heroes". I do not believe we will see "Hero" units like those in WC3 that level and have gear etc. I DO think we will see the return of "Special" units like Jim Raynor, Kerrigan, Artanis, Zeratul etc like thier original forms. That being, the same unit with more HP/Armor/Damage and maybe a special ability. I'd like to see Raynor kickin' some ass as a Goliath (if they are still in the game). - deathvegetable, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1There's something to be said about fairness when everyone has the same resolution. SC2 could easily be about who bought the best computer whereas the original was more about skill. In the original game the only real advantage to having lots of $$$ was that you could afford a faster Internet connection.
- mehbored, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1its still at alpha stage you can't expect it to look perfect now
- Enochyang, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2like they say it in korea: ^^
- kdkusano, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Blizzard has been notorious for making games that run on a wide range of computers (aka dumbed down graphics settings)...i think they mention that in the article...plus gameplay isn't dependent on graphics
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yup, you are the only one who didn't get the irony of that.
- unibonger, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1hahah genius
- eriksr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah, apologized below. I sort comments by "Most Diggs" so I didn't get this whole nested replies thing.
Also, married men with enough time to multiplay Starcraft 2 and are good enough to enjoy it (ie. win every now and then) don't stay married long, IMHO. :) - Nudar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Why? You have freedom do whatever the hell you want. Remain single as long as you can. Just get married in time to have a few kids so someone can take care of you when you're old.
- SteveMax, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1root abuse is the new comment abuse.
- renatoc8, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1YEAH!!... wait... damn
- kdkusano, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1www.duggmirror.com ftw
- Tacobake, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Starcraft 2!!!
*drools on self* - EbulaJonez, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1^^ Thank God
- thedarkhaze, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It's very likely that they will have no build able heroes like stated above, however if you play a map that has heroes then you will be able to use them, etc. etc. However for the story line and such I'm sure they'll put in heroes similarly to how you got them in the original, IMO making that sort of change would negatively impact many people.
- yammy1688, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1There were hero units in the original SC as well, but only in single player. I doubt hero units will be available in multiplayer.
- ohmar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I wonder how many people will ever read this comment. So much going on in this page. Boxes everywhere. Its madness.
