Notable features so far (from the update): Terrain traversing, new units, and here's something more: note that the editor says the protoss unit kills FIFTY zerglings in the demo: I think they just increased the scale of the game to Medieval: Total war style proportions!

      I love Blizzard and glad to see Starcraft II coming out... one thing that bugs the crap out of me though, is their graphics suck....

      Compare say WoW to EverQuest II
      Or the orignal Starcraft/Warcraft to Age of Empires.

      Diablo I/II both had nice graphics back in the day. But the WoW style cartoon crap just doesn't float my boat.

      Ya, the graphics definitely arnet on par with C&C3, but that just means that many more people will be able to play it. Plus we will be able to have massive battles with very little slowdown. I mean you cant even play a 4v4 in SupCom with out some serious lag.
    • rssej, on 10/11/2007, -6/+32@Rhino. They WoW had less details to EQ2. EQ2 looks boring and bland compared the vivid environments of WoW. In cases, good lighting can look so much better to the eye that good detail.

      SC looked better than AoE, but AoK did look considerably better than SC, but AoK came out a year later. Besides, Blizzard is much more concerned with how a game performs online then how graphical details. Hell, SC played fine over 56k back in the day.

But, I was hoping for a more revolutionary iteration. An example of my disappointment is the (apparent) lack of serious change to terrain design. I would have liked to see a natural landscape instead of one that has rigid "layers". Also, the game looks just as cartoony as the original. So far, it appears to me that Blizzard stuck too close to the original. I understand that StarCraft 1 was a once-in-gaming-history great game and that people would not accept a product that seriously changed the character of the game. For that reason, Blizzard may have played it too conservatively. Simply put, I'm underwhelmed by what I've seen. Before you fanboys start flaming me, remember - I've been playing SC since '98 and I love the game just as much as anyone. I realize that we have seen just a tiny bit of the game so far -so be chill my friend!

      I'm also ecstatic to hear that they're not trying to reinvent the wheel like they did for WC3. Large unit caps and large-scale tactical battles... NO creeping heroes units around! My sort of game!

    They have shown 5 new protoss units so far (3 air 2 ground)
    I was worried it was going to be an expansion-like game, with 2 more units per race and updated graphics.
    Sounds exciting.. Story will be awesome as always.

I just played Brood War for the first time in 5 months, proves everytime why it's my favorite game. I just hope all these new-fangled units don't mess the balance up and turn it into a Warcraft 3 of sorts. Starcraft w/ better graphics, praying works?
