- seks03, on 03/24/2008, -4/+17weres the blue portal?
- StealthMonkey, on 03/24/2008, -1/+7Across the street from the Bar and Eaters, of course.
- HammerOfHope, on 03/24/2008, -1/+2Poster Child, the toronto street artist, made both...
Check out Poster Child's Blade Diary if you're interested; most of it is geek influenced, and he was responsible for the mario blocks that were seen in toronto a few years back.
http://www.bladediary.com/index.pl?stencil=391 - fcukthisgame, on 03/25/2008, -1/+2First the cake. Now the Companion Cube?!? The anguish!
- alliekins619, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2It was real, but then you euthanized it faster than any test subject on record.
- GothAlice, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1But it -is- real! Haven't you heard the Coast-to-Coast radio show interview with a physicist named Gordon? (It's on Digg, FYI.)
- seks03, on 03/24/2008, -4/+17weres the blue portal?
- argash, on 03/24/2008, -12/+6*sniff* Why did you leave me Companion Cube?I thought you were my friend?!
- Puphles, on 03/24/2008, -2/+72Um, actually, you euthanised your faithful companion cube more quickly than any test subject on record.
- ifknot, on 03/24/2008, -13/+3The cake is a lie!
- sarge96, on 03/24/2008, -1/+7"In the event that your Companion Cube does speak, the Enrichment Center encourages you to disregard it's advice"
- Puphles, on 03/24/2008, -2/+72Um, actually, you euthanised your faithful companion cube more quickly than any test subject on record.
- hokeywebb22, on 03/24/2008, -3/+211Someone needs to find the blue portal now.
- 10001110101, on 03/24/2008, -1/+59Here's my analysis: the two signs that are visible within the portal are for "Florida Jacks" and a place that ends in "Bar & Eatery". Doing a bit of googling, you find that Florida Jacks is located at 782 Yonge Street.. And that Burgundy's Bar & Eatery is at 780 Yonge. So, the blue portal is across the street from that - around 781 Yonge Street? Looks like it's @ the Toronto Reference Library:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=7 ...- glassx, on 03/24/2008, -13/+1The shots were taken on Bloor, not Yonge. It's in the caption. And why would the portal be across the street?
- glassx, on 03/24/2008, -1/+5Oh you mean inside the portal, sorry. Nevermind. It would be at the reference library!
- markwilcox, on 03/24/2008, -0/+16You, sir, have too much time on your hands

- unearth, on 03/24/2008, -0/+26Why not just step through the yellow one?
- smashv2, on 03/24/2008, -0/+19*orange
- JudgeMonkey, on 03/25/2008, -0/+4That would be fine, theoretically that is a perfectly sound idea. I see no physical reason that would not work.
The only problem is.... it's too high up.- Jolene, on 03/25/2008, -0/+6You just need the cube to fall out so you can get on top of it and jump into the portal.
- tawal, on 03/25/2008, -0/+0http://wvs.topleftpixel.com/08/03/25/
- Archer007, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2They updated it with the pics of the blue portal.

Yes, because everyone on Digg hasn't heard of Portal- bagelpirate, on 03/24/2008, -1/+23Because this site was specifically tailored for digg.
- Zihuatanejo, on 03/24/2008, -4/+2Yes, but the summary of the site was.
- bagelpirate, on 03/24/2008, -1/+23Because this site was specifically tailored for digg.
- DErallde, on 03/24/2008, -1/+52I bet the blue portal is across the street from a Bar & Eatery.
- duffahtolla, on 03/24/2008, -2/+0I don't know if its there, but there is a Burgundy's Bar & Eatery (780 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON M4Y 2B6, Canada), right next to Florida Jacks (782 Yonge St Toronto, ON M4Y).
- MastaB, on 03/24/2008, -1/+307Blue Portal: http://www.bladediary.com/index.pl?stencil=390
- theaceoffire, on 03/24/2008, -0/+21That takes a good amount of talent.
- Sil369, on 03/24/2008, -2/+32WIN.
- psychomidget, on 03/24/2008, -0/+6ahh that's Toby's thats sadly now closed they had great burgers and cheap beer i used to go every so often. very cool indeed
- bchang, on 03/25/2008, -0/+3Is this Bloor and Yonge?
- bitterscream, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2On Yonge, south of bloor, looking south. You can see "The Shoe Company" flags in the last pic.

- bitterscream, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2On Yonge, south of bloor, looking south. You can see "The Shoe Company" flags in the last pic.
- mhuggins, on 03/25/2008, -1/+4Good, but technically speaking, the box shouldn't "cut off" at the point it touches the portal. We should be able to see the whole box through to the other side where it comes out. Awesome job, and I'm in no way saying I could do a better job (cause I couldn't), I'm just being a nit. :)
- MindStalker, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2Your right, guessing they took a picture from each portal. They need someone to paint in the image of the box, would be tough but worth it for the effect.
- DrDeThToAzT, on 03/24/2008, -23/+183Must.....Resist....Urge.....
...
This was a triumph.- supremesonic, on 03/24/2008, -31/+35On the knowledge I know I'm getting dugg down into oblivion, do we have to recite the theme with EVERY Portal related story? It was cool the first time or so, not the 97th.
- bencongdon, on 03/24/2008, -10/+34Yes. Learn to live with it!
- xTRUMANx, on 03/24/2008, -6/+8Believe me, it was far from cool way before the 97th.
- loneBoat, on 03/24/2008, -1/+24There were 97? I'm still on 95. Must've missed a couple.
- antdude, on 03/24/2008, -3/+1Yes because GLaDOS said so!

- Yarnage, on 03/24/2008, -4/+2Why is this man being dugg down? He's right!
- theradical, on 03/24/2008, -1/+2Actually it is rather easy to overstate satisfaction.
Example: I AM REALLY REALLY SUPER SATISFIED!!!!!

- Jholder112233, on 03/24/2008, -4/+3...Really? I bet you're a bundle of fun at a party.
- ligyron, on 03/24/2008, -2/+0Have fun with that....
- romistrub, on 03/24/2008, -4/+23The car in last perspective shot has the most prolific front end I've ever seen.
- evil-doer, on 03/24/2008, -1/+1lens distortion. look at the back end of the same car in the first picture
- loneBoat, on 03/24/2008, -0/+9Prolific? Are you sure you know what that word means? (I'm not being a definition Nazi, I just really don't know what you mean by that word - I thought prolific meant "produces a lot of stuff")
- Metal_Hurlant, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1Now you're just being ventrocorous.
- EntangledPhysx, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1I'd be less apathetic if i wasn't so lethargic
- Metal_Hurlant, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1Now you're just being ventrocorous.
- nascentia, on 03/24/2008, -8/+7So, uh, everything that I've ever burned and/or euthanized has just gone to Toronto? Guess Grandma's a Canadian now...

oh and also because portal = win - btraxx, on 03/24/2008, -3/+93If only it were in front of a bakery. A bakery that served cake.
- NCecil, on 03/25/2008, -0/+28That wouldn't be very good advertising for the bakery - people might not go in, thinking that the cake is a lie.
- VgRasta, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1Real cake.
- birkoph, on 03/24/2008, -11/+4It's ok Boston Polish dept, It's not a bomb. It's just a video game prop.
.- max420, on 03/24/2008, -1/+9That would have been funny had this happened in Boston. Considering in happened in Toronto, your joke is actually really stupid.
- Jholder112233, on 03/24/2008, -0/+14Boston has a department just for the Polish now? Great!
- birkoph, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1LMAO. I was drunk.. I swear
- LumberingOaf, on 03/24/2008, -2/+159Good thing they didn't try this in Boston. They'd have the whole city on high alert, thinking it was another bomb scare.

- cliffdavis, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2Hah, that marble mouthed troglodyte couldn't put together a sentence that eloquent if he tried. It would sound more like "bombs was found in uva tenty five hummphphyr cakes in the city wide."

HUGE SUCCESS! - cynic573, on 03/24/2008, -7/+12Honestly, my satisfaction can't be overstated.
- Jookly, on 03/24/2008, -0/+6very awesome. I wish I could get a shot of the opposite side of the street from both the orange and the blue portals just to compare the lengths the designer went to for accuracy. Even if it isn't accurate I would be like oooooooooooooooooooo neat.
- trubld1, on 03/24/2008, -0/+2http://www.bladediary.com/index.pl?stencil=390
The blue portal is located far away from the Orange one so it would be impossible to have a shot or both sides. But seeing both ends of it prove to be very accurately made. - Caskerville, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1Here's a shot I took last week of the opposite side (At Yonge & Bloor) before I even knew about the other one:
http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/4152/clipboard0 ...
http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/4148/newphotos0 ... - Jookly, on 03/24/2008, -1/+3Thats cool but what I was hoping for was a picture of the opposite side of the street form the portals. For example the blue one has some Asian lettering in the background. I would love a shot of across the street from the orange portal so I could see that building outside of the blue portal.
- trubld1, on 03/24/2008, -0/+2http://www.bladediary.com/index.pl?stencil=390
- chrissku, on 03/24/2008, -6/+2I didn't read this article but based on the title I am able to make a qualified assumption and say that the story was both well written and intriguing.
- webcrumb, on 03/24/2008, -0/+5I found the design to be both functional and elegant.
- adml_shake, on 03/24/2008, -3/+3I suddenly crave cake...
- MMaster23, on 03/24/2008, -2/+0i still have half an portal-cake left :X

(today is my bday, got a portal cake :D)
- MMaster23, on 03/24/2008, -2/+0i still have half an portal-cake left :X
- Resolute, on 03/24/2008, -0/+6Anyone know who's behind this? Is it a viral thing by valve, or just a bunch of devoted fans?
- ligyron, on 03/24/2008, -1/+3Yes
- Archer007, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1Maybe
- kyew, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2It was a Toronto street artist named Posterchild. You can see his stuff at http://www.bladediary.com/ including more pics of the cube on either end of the portal.
- ligyron, on 03/24/2008, -1/+3Yes
- Daiken, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1Nice link. Just went through the site and there are a lot of amazing pictures (of Toronto and Montreal).
- leerayIG88, on 03/24/2008, -8/+3nom nom nom
- Laiden, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1Fail. That comment does not apply. Try again later.
- louiebaur, on 03/24/2008, -10/+5lol I don't understand everyone's obsession with that cube.
And, yes, I did play the game. Multiple times.- ligyron, on 03/24/2008, -3/+8If you really played the game you wouldn't say that
- rhoffer21, on 03/24/2008, -9/+4Dont put one in Boston, they will think its a bomb
- kong27, on 03/24/2008, -1/+6That would be bad ass if this was the first part of a new ARG leading to the release of Portal 2.
- Slagtits, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1Did anyone notice the sign on the shop door? Bishop, it gets murkier and murkier.
- psychomidget, on 03/24/2008, -0/+7If anyone watches Kenny vs Spenny the health food store next door is where Kenny goes quite often in the show to Dr. Goldfield for crazy tips on winning like clenching your anus to stay awake... But that Companion Cube is pretty cool it really is amazing how that game has become so popular with like an almost cult-like following (myself included)
- almj, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4I love that show.
- MH94, on 03/24/2008, -2/+1Why's that car sooo long??
- melonade, on 03/24/2008, -0/+11Long car is LOOOOOONG
- n0ah420, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2Its a 17-40mm lens (image shot at 21mm) which will change the perspective (hover on the image for a tooltip with pic info).

- 4d669, on 03/24/2008, -0/+5So... Who did it? Why? and what does it mean for us. Someone should create a site with portal maps which are actually good, he could make a living out of the traffic and ads.
- psychomidget, on 03/24/2008, -2/+16Maybe it was Black Mesa...
That was a joke!
Haha Fat Chance
- psychomidget, on 03/24/2008, -2/+16Maybe it was Black Mesa...
- Jevy14, on 03/24/2008, -0/+24FOR ALL TORONTONIANS - and all else who care, the blue portal is located on the east side of yonge street, just south of Bloor St. and yes the view through the portals are accurate depictions of the other side. I took a picture of the blue portal, but someone else got the orange one up first (drat :( ) but still intriguing.
- bchang, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1Thanks A lot!
I'm going tomorrow. - quanta88, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1Yes, the portals basically bracket Korea Town. The orange portal is near Euclid/Bloor.
- bchang, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1Thanks A lot!
- digitarius, on 03/24/2008, -1/+16I won't lie. I'd come back at night and steal it.
- Kenzan, on 03/24/2008, -2/+4Is your life that bland that owning a replica of an item found in a Video Game will make it thrilling again?
- TheCoreh, on 03/25/2008, -0/+3Definately.

- MikeonTV, on 03/24/2008, -0/+5Certainly wasn't in the last 6 weeks. There is still a blanket of snow in the city!
- theradical, on 03/24/2008, -0/+4Actually it seems to have been taken today. The blanket of snow melted this afternoon. GO OUTSIDE AND SEE!

- MikeinLoFi, on 03/24/2008, -0/+11Kind of surprised that I didn't see that much Portal quotes, aside from the cake.

- archiesteel, on 03/24/2008, -0/+2I find it fitting that this is near Euclid street in Toronto...
- Kenzan, on 03/24/2008, -1/+1I think it's quite cool, but I think Video games are ubiquitous enough that it removes the private "in" joke.
