- daridave, on 03/06/2009, -3/+84Free "for a period of time" games. Brilliant... this is the future of demos right here.
- LucasKane, on 03/07/2009, -0/+44Good luck downloading it, the steam servers have been clogged since they announced it
- Katana, on 03/07/2009, -6/+46Am I one of the few that actually likes UT3?
I used to play a lot of UT '99 and loved the feel of it, UT2003/4 always felt slow and sluggish, poorly balanced.
When I played UT3 it actually felt like an updated UT '99, obviously it has vehicles but the pace and weapon balance are spot on. - mu0p, on 03/07/2009, -2/+40While Epic was clearly caught sleeping with this game, letting all their attention to Gears of War almost terminate the Unreal franchise that got them to where they are today, This new free expansion really rectifies the launch problems.
It's also only $11.99 to buy this weekend, so you almost can't afford not to get it...i love steam. - DrArnold, on 03/07/2009, -0/+34World of Goo is also 75% off this weekend on steam. $5!
- ThatGeek, on 03/07/2009, -0/+29steam is all drm buddy
- IIECONII, on 03/07/2009, -0/+26NOOOOOOO! Don't post this on Digg! The servers are ALREADY TOO CLOGGED!
"Servers too busy to handle request" - Alchemist11, on 03/07/2009, -0/+25They had better extend the date - at this rate no one's going to be able to try it.
- Shazbuckle, on 03/07/2009, -0/+21Great marketing move.
The companies AND the consumer win, because there will be a lot of people who will want to buy after this weekend :) - Eezyville, on 03/07/2009, -1/+19So where's the linux patch epic promised us?
- Bootes, on 03/07/2009, -1/+19No. If I'm paying for content on Steam, they can pay for the bandwidth to get it to me.
- endgame, on 03/07/2009, -2/+16HEY! Everyone stop downloading it so mine can finish please. I'm only at 20% @1.3kbs there servers must be SLAMMED!
I'll let you know when I'm dont then the Digg community can start theirs..LOL - omgwtfbbq420, on 03/07/2009, -3/+17Have you actually played ut2004? sluggish? UT3 feels like you have lead boots on, no double dodging, the weapons have no knock back for vehicles(thus making it extremely unbalanced, unless of course you play ***** console games all day).
- AirRaven, on 03/07/2009, -0/+13Spent most of yesterday evening trying to download it- the servers are incessantly "to busy to handle your request".
Pity- sounds like a fun game. - inactive, on 03/07/2009, -0/+13I got to say, some new of new maps and mods are quite fun!
Greed is pretty intense especially when you enable the "Titan" mod and all hell breaks loose!
In my opinion, the game feels a lot smoother and the new netcode has improved dramatically! - ssj4vegita2002, on 03/07/2009, -0/+13Yea, but they won't be playing online with us anyway.
- Cirrius, on 03/07/2009, -9/+21I'll stick with Quake Live...it STAYS free.
http://www.quakelive.com/ - JaceP, on 03/07/2009, -0/+12Yeah it's so fun I really can't wait to buy this game now!
That's what I would be saying if Steam would stop giving me "Steam servers are too busy. Please try again later" error everytime I try to download it. Oh, and isn't this promotion over in like, 12 hours? - kingofnexus, on 03/07/2009, -1/+12I'm sorry, but I don't see how you thought UT2k4 was slow and sluggish, I'ts completely the opposite, if anything people said it was too fast and had over the top jumping mechanics.
- adml_shake, on 03/07/2009, -1/+12Sad, I can't download it because the servers are too busy.
- Radan, on 03/07/2009, -0/+11Personally I don't see anything wrong with DRM on stuff that I technically just borrow or rent. It's DRM on things that I actually BUY that bothers me.
- jaggedsphere, on 03/07/2009, -0/+11I want my linux client...damn bastages
- SkilledPrestO, on 03/07/2009, -0/+10and because PC is better
- iskin, on 03/07/2009, -0/+10Unfortunately, it's in legal limbo from what I hear. My understanding is that Epic has/had the entire game ready and waiting for Linux and a third party developer they licensed code from is very adamant about not releasing to Linux.
- Wilhuf, on 03/07/2009, -0/+9I bought this game retail and cant even play it on steam, the servers are too busy catering to the free downloaders to let me patch. WTG Steam.
- SirFragsMore, on 03/07/2009, -0/+9I just bought the game on steam to support free weekends!
- average650, on 03/07/2009, -1/+10except I still can't download it because the "steam servers are too busy to handle your request"
- molochi, on 03/07/2009, -1/+10By the time I download it the trial will be over. Bandwidth in my building is horrible on the weekends.
- cl2yp71c, on 03/07/2009, -1/+10Firstly, who the ***** plays games on netbooks?
Secondly, what netbook can handle the UT3 engine?
Are you saying that Epic should've worked with ***** graphics for those 5 people who can't carry a decent-sized laptop? - crackerjohn, on 03/07/2009, -0/+8too bad my pc wont handle it..only ut04 and bf2 ..gotta update this thing.
- cl2yp71c, on 03/07/2009, -1/+9The english was made for better uses than to be butchered by some moron.
- U83RMENSCH, on 03/07/2009, -3/+11sadly no one cares about linux gaming :(
- inactive, on 03/07/2009, -0/+8Try it anyway man... There are a ton of video options now that you can tweak to your liking. I was able to get it to run on my PC and that bitch is like 5 years old.
- Xavious85, on 03/07/2009, -0/+8Its times like these (and Quake Live) that made me wish I had my Desktop PC with me instead of my Mac Laptop. Both my internships are Mac Shops only.
- thePTS, on 03/07/2009, -1/+9Agreed completely. I personally loved UT3 from the (buggy) release, and I feel I am one of the few who did..
- Corr0sive, on 03/07/2009, -0/+8They did it for DoD:S i played it damn near non stop the whole weekend. I've been waiting for another free weekend game.
- ssj4vegita2002, on 03/07/2009, -1/+8True. Just bought it and got the same. Beauty of Steam is, I can download it whenever I want once the servers are back to full capacity. I can be patient. This was an impulse buy anyway. That's how Steam gets me with these sales, they make the price too damn good to pass up, I love it.
- Snarfy, on 03/07/2009, -7/+14UT3 is a $9.99 bargain bin special ($11.99 on steam?) and the *real* free UT3 demo is still available. ***** whiners.
- EliCompton, on 03/07/2009, -1/+8Been waiting since launch. Wtf?
- kjones555, on 03/07/2009, -0/+7Because absolutely NO ONE plays the PS3 version. I should know. I was one of the suckers that got it for full price.
- thedez, on 03/07/2009, -1/+8No, you get off. I've be downloading since late Thursday evening.
- inactive, on 03/07/2009, -0/+7I bought it for $9, and it's worth it. Even if it was up to $30 I would still buy it. It's a great game to play when I get tired of playing TF2.
- Philbert, on 03/07/2009, -1/+7I just bought the whole game, disc, manual, and all, it's only $15.
- cawfee, on 03/07/2009, -0/+6"That's thanks to the Titan mutator, an add-on that converts your kills into a sort of "rage meter" that sits in the lower-right corner of your screen. Fill up the meter, and you can activate Titan mode, whereby you triple in size and gain an ultra-powerful homing rocket launcher and AOE ground-pound that either stuns or dismembers your opponents depending on their proximity to you. You also quadruple your maximum health and armor, and when you're finally taken down, your corpse becomes a nuclear bomb that obliterates everything in the room. "
Google is your friend! - cvrefugee, on 03/07/2009, -0/+6Overpriced? Every console I've purchase was cheaper than a gaming PC. You don't need to upgrade the hardware in a console, that's the whole point - you save money while developers make prettier games on the same "un-upgradable" hardware. Compare a first-gen Xbox 360 game to a current one and you'll see what I'm talking about. Can you play a brand-new game on a PC that was built in late-2005? As far as no "further content" you've never heard of DLC on the Xbox 360 and PS3, you know, like map packs for FPS or song tracks for music games (GH/RB).
- ssj4vegita2002, on 03/07/2009, -0/+6Yes...Pay more for a smaller online community.
- thePTS, on 03/07/2009, -0/+6They kinda botched the PS3-version.. they had a chance of making it "proper" with mouse/kbd-support, and include all the PS3-players together with the PC-players, but Epic botched it completely.
- Harmatia, on 03/07/2009, -0/+5I love UT3, and the titan pack makes it even better.
I just hate the titan mutator. Greed is so much fun until someone becomes a giant, nearly invincible behemoth. - RabidZombie, on 03/07/2009, -0/+5P2P file transfer has been on Valve's agenda for three years, so they certainly know it's a good idea. Bits of it are coming through, slowly, but knowing Valve, I wouldn't expect it to be finished any time soon. :P
- Steve8867, on 03/07/2009, -0/+5Tried it, my PC does NOT like this game.
