Oh great, now we will have to click at least 200 times per minute to keep up with the game... - ryancxx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+39"The current plan is to keep the unit cap at 200."
Damn :( - Shuk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+28"The average match will be less than 20 minutes"
This could be good or bad depending on how they do it. On one hand, I like the fact that it implies quick action and less waiting for things to build, but on the other hand I want to have time to see some more advanced tactics than just Zerg Rush KEKEKEKEKE! - Butmac, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Dugg for PC Gamer actually getting some exclusive info!
- kirakun, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12I dugg both of you down for making me click to see two useless comments. :p

...God dammit... - trer, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10This will be the game that will finally get me to upgrade my box.

- dark2025, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8They provided for some excellent custom maps though!
- j4son, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Just like SC was WC2 in space?
- Kazbaeden, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Dude, there would be no DOTA if there were no heroes. 90% of the custom games on BNET are DOTA.
- SocialPoison, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6You run out of hotkeys eventually...
Though if they raise that cap too much higher managing a mob of zerglings would be much easier... muahahaha...
FOR THE SWARRRMM!! - unusualbob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6there were heroes in SC original too buddy
- Lynx34, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4To be fair the unit cap does limit how many big units you can have. If you managed your resources well enough then the only thing keeping you from having 2 dozen carriers is the fact that they eat up your pop limit like crazy. Take that away and you'll hand the game over to the resource-managers.

The cover story of the latest PC Gamer is all about Starcraft II. The feature highlights the development process and decision-making and shows an ample amount of Protoss units, including old-hats such as the Reavers, Templars and Archons.
Other tidbits:
* Hero units will not be as important or require as much management as they did in Warcraft III.
* The current plan is to keep the unit cap at 200. In terms of unit higlighting, the development team is testing the option to let you select an unlimited of units at the same time.
* Blizzard consulted with top competitive SC and WCIII players from Korea for the balance and design process.
* The ideal SCII match will last less than 20 minutes.
* No decisions have been made as to minimum system requirements, but Blizzard has always made games for a wide range of computers. The team did note that a Shader Model 2.0-compatible graphics card will be required. (That's GeForce FX, Radeon 9000 or better, PC Gamer reports.)
Everything we've previously seen or read, the feature stressed, is subject to change. Here's hoping we get some more information (or hands-on time) at this year's BlizzCon. The latest PC Gamer is on newsstands now. - Gzero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Upkeep. Food and housing are trivial in this world >). (amino acid soup and bunk beds)
- Wytefang, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Bah, there have been plenty of strong RTS games recently released that should have compelled you to upgrade already. Company of Heroes (PC GOTY 06) or SupCom to name but two.
- xDcSx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4http://digg.com/pc_games/The_ACTUAL_new_Starcraft_II_details_from_PCGamer_with_scans
Digg the PCGamer scans.
Sorry whoever was at work, don't have an account anywhere. - KiLLB0T, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I don't think the solution is more races, but you're right about Dawn of War ... that's the only other strategy game (other than SC) that I've invested a lot of time in.
- ironrex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I think this implies there will be some form of Hero units. Previously they had said there would be none at all, which is what people are expecting.
- ontain, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I'm glad to hear that the system requirements will probably be low by today's standards. so refreshing to see a pc game more concerned about gameplay than graphics. this over emphasis on graphics is what is killing pc gaming because it's becoming inaccessible to most ppl with pcs.
- Wytefang, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2No, what's hurting (not killing) PC gaming are fools to cheap to upgrade their system to even remotely modern specs. In light of how cheap it is to upgrade these days (far cheaper than blowing $600-700 on a next-gen console), it's even more pathetic that so many gaming systems haven't been modernized to keep up with the times. There have been PLENTY of amazing PC games that are focused on gameplay over graphics.
- OpCzar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2From the actual article:
"StarCraft II poster boy Tychus Findlay is about to make you his bitch. Why else would he have the Daikatana tagline ("Suck It Down") scrawled on his armor? "
http://limitedgaming.com/files/18/0004.JPG - skrowl, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2*Drool* Can't wait for Starcraft 2 / Warcraft 4.
- xDcSx, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5This article is horrible. It lists information that we already knew about and ignores the actual information that was revealed in the PCGamer.. as in new units.
It's also BLATENTLY incorrect..
"Hero units will not be as important or require as much management as they did in Warcraft III."
That's because there ARE NO HEROES. *****. If you want the actual scans they're on www.sclegacy.com - o0joshua0o, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Anybody know the system requirements for this game, yet? It's enough to make me upgrade, too.
- Stuntaneous, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2last i heard there were no heroes, now its assumed there are. tops...
heroes sucked hard in wc3, sc2 doesnt need em at all. - hfactor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Well, in Starcraft and Broodwar there were.
- MonkeyFit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1At a unit cap of 200, I don't know if the reqs will be very high.
- Sagan1337, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You don't have to play at the fastest setting...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1No the hero's in LOTR: Battle for Middle earth SUCKED.

The latest PC Gamer is on newsstands now. - dark_helmet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Having a large unit cap is not a problem when you can select an infinite amount of units at once. Being limited in the number of units you can select just makes more physical work for the player and doesn't really add to game play.
- NikoKun, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Screw Protoss... I wanna know about ZERG!!!
- DiamondIce, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Suck? Dawn of War? Blasphemy! Burn the heretic!
- ElectricGrandpa, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Anyone who has that many units should have attacked by now anyway... It's plenty.
- DiamondIce, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I would tend to agree here. While they may be called "heroes" by the majority of players they are technically story characters. The heroes that I think most people are thinking of would be more like "RPG" heroes. You level them up and get them items and get them all god-like, then all they do is just generally suckify an otherwise good RTS. Now as for SC2 having heroes that are more like unique units, I'm down with that. Rise of Nations did a pretty good job of it. The units were stronger then their conventional counterparts, but not overpowering, and you only got one type of hero that was race dependent so they didn't seem gimmicky. It wasn't like you could upgrade any unit you wanted to be a hero.
- xDcSx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Adding more races doesn't make the game better. Making three incredibly distinct but balanced races that are both intuitive but difficult to master is what makes a game great. It's why Starcraft is still the most popular strategy game on the planet 9 years after it was released. Crazy as it sounds, innovation is overrated. People tend to forget that innovation alone doesn't make a game fun.
- hybridcreation, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1So websites report magazine articles now? Why not just buy the issue?
I've had mine for 5 days. - KiLLB0T, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Me too ... I don't think I can play this one on my work laptop
- Nowheredan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1And what exactly makes you so sure that this article isn't the only correct one?
- Stuntaneous, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1a fast game isnt necessarily good in rts....
wc3 standard sucked, it was like.. rework your one strategy until it wins you the game everytime. sc2 reaally doesnt need to draw on wc3. - DiamondIce, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Yeah, but at least WC2 was a good game.
- xDcSx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0"Heroes" have nothing to do with the storyline. When we refer to heroes we refer to the multiplayer aspect of the game. in Warcraft III, heroes were a very real part of this. This is not the case in Starcraft or Starcraft II.
- emorgoch, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Hero units could mean anything. The original SC and WCII had heroes, they just we're the leveling god like ones of WC3, they were upgraded regular units, with maybe different spells.
That said, I didn't mind the WC3 heroes so much. It made for a different type of game play, more strategic, low-level control, rather than build lots of units and rush. I like that they are going back to the original RTS style, but WC3 was a nice change from the usual drive, and deserves more credit than it gets. - messiah420, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Well theres some heroes don't you remember the storyline at all?
However Im glad there wont be special hero units all around. Theres enough micro going on already.
What Im really hoping is for great zoom capabilities so you can really get up close to the battles!
SC2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - populargeek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Starcraft 2 will pwn. but i dont like the building graphics. kinda ugly. :p lol.
but units look hella sick. like the mothership. the marines. but zeratul looks like a whore. kerrigan looks pretty dope too. - messiah420, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0UHMM 36 carriers are ftl my friend. Unless you on an air map and even then, FTL!
- Xenogis, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1yes you do
