- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -5/+198I liked the part when the water was flowing all over the place.
- MMilitia, on 08/12/2008, -1/+110Looking very much like it did back when AGEIA were demoing PhysX a couple of years back. Hopefully Nvidia will have more success coaxing developers to put this kind of tech into their games.
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -5/+104ITS LIKE IM REALLY ON THE TITANIC
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -5/+89This was a physics demonstration, not a graphics demonstration.
- mecharabbit, on 08/13/2008, -4/+65It was so realistic that I felt a strong urge to pee my pants while watching this. And yes, I did give in to that urge.
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -5/+64You call that real? Check this video out ( not in real time)
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/7542 ... - inactive, on 08/13/2008, -1/+60Can't wait to try it on my Riva TNT.
- RMoore08, on 08/13/2008, -3/+54I failed physics in school
- noseeme, on 08/13/2008, -1/+50In 1996, it was not done in real time.
- inactive, on 08/12/2008, -2/+44Ooho~ physics!
- afx1, on 08/13/2008, -0/+41good to know, now check out the demo
- beaunewcomb, on 08/13/2008, -26/+64Cool, yes.. realistic? Definitely not.
Really... the physics yes are very fluid, but does water really look like that? No. - noseeme, on 08/13/2008, -6/+44I liked the part where water killed water's father, and then water wept many tears of water.

Also check out the Folding at Home nvidia app - KniteWulf, on 08/13/2008, -1/+37It looked like jam. Now I'm hungry.
- planksconstant, on 08/13/2008, -1/+35no, but it behaves like real water, and that's the point.
- Fmunkey, on 08/13/2008, -1/+33http://www.nvidia.com/content/forcewithin/us/downl ...
The download for 8, 9 and gtx series card.
Also, for those saying the graphics aren't very good, the surrounding area isnt very good looking because fewer faces are easier to compute collision detection. The water can look so much better with tweaking. If they added foaming and reduced particle size it would look better. But this is REAL TIME, so still very impressive. - CaptainM4d, on 08/13/2008, -1/+29Where does it say that it's water? NO WHERE
- FTLJohnson, on 08/13/2008, -1/+28I want to see the day game where everything in the game is built from particles... including the walls. Just... very static mostly immobile rock particles. So that when you hit them, they break apart with the level of realism they are now getting with particle fluids. I want to see particle solids.
- MasterThief117, on 08/13/2008, -0/+26So, in other words, you ran your own fluid simulation in your pants.
- Black6x, on 08/13/2008, -0/+24Oh, the things this will do for porn.
- Dwebtron, on 08/13/2008, -0/+22yes. the joke's not funny anymore.
- fpaudon, on 08/13/2008, -2/+24And to think that in 5 years this can be done with onboard graphics
- jaxter2010, on 06/17/2009, -2/+23thats wierd...
- sockpuppets, on 08/13/2008, -0/+20I failed phys ed.
- Disease, on 08/13/2008, -1/+20Water fetish?
Pools must be embarrassing. - FTLJohnson, on 08/13/2008, -0/+19Actually, I believe that very clearly was a Windex factory...
- hexydes, on 08/13/2008, -0/+17In five years, there won't be "onboard" graphics. It'll be a 128 core general purpose processing unit that doesn't care what it is computing. Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA are all working on solutions to this right now.
- sykotic, on 08/13/2008, -0/+17Very true, in fact it looks best as the oil color because it has that consistency
- sykotic, on 08/13/2008, -0/+16Blue shade is default. You can change it to clear, water looking, errr water.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/07/nvidia-uncorkin ... - HellifIno, on 08/13/2008, -0/+15Maybe a bit of fire in the sky, too?
- swabfalling, on 08/13/2008, -0/+15You win 10 internets.
- advil, on 08/13/2008, -0/+15now let's see some smoke on that water
- hexydes, on 08/13/2008, -1/+14Yes, the water in Crysis LOOKS great; however, it doesn't really have any physics to it. This technology lets it not only look great, but also REACT great. So like if you drive a vehicle off a ramp and land in water, the Crysis engine makes the water look (aesthetically) great, the PhysX code makes it react like real water, and combined together, it looks and acts like very realistic water.
- illt, on 08/13/2008, -0/+12from the sound of it, it was no simulation.
- satanguy, on 08/13/2008, -1/+13try comparing it to how games currently do water...
- ilmmad, on 08/13/2008, -3/+14They have them, they're called voxels. Google Voxelstein 3D for a good example.
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -2/+13Yes that made me very emo. :(
- u8muhrice, on 08/12/2008, -8/+18though its just a demo, the water physics look amazing. Very realistic
- michaelrsa, on 08/13/2008, -0/+9Dude, after I saw this I actually did go and pee!
- pwnerofnoobs, on 08/13/2008, -4/+13ya, it sure looks real, like when i take a piss, my urine comes out in slow motion.
- sinembarg0, on 08/13/2008, -2/+10because the graphics card is much better geared toward physics calculations that the cpu. the two processors are designed tto do very different thing , and do them well. Do you think people would spend money on high end graphics cards if their 2nd cpu core could the the same thing?
- Hollow5, on 08/13/2008, -0/+8I failed both
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -1/+9Very close to a demo of projectile vomiting.
- xkingADROCKx, on 08/13/2008, -0/+8http://www.pbs.org/kcet/wiredscience/video/310-per ...
- BugMeNot2, on 08/13/2008, -0/+7You mean like video #3?
http://darkphysics.thegamecreators.com/movies.php# ... - jellygraph, on 08/13/2008, -0/+73DFX Voodoo2 anyone? It could do SLI, for extra 3D greatness.
- DeathMarcher, on 08/13/2008, -0/+7If only this could be added into gmod..
- halogenik, on 08/13/2008, -1/+8that's great and all for nvidia, i'm happy that they acquired physx because i've been a long-time supporter of NV, but until they a) come up with reasonable price vs performance ratios like ATI has been doing, and b) put a stop to this stupid squabble they're having with Intel (which they can't win btw. What are they gonna do, make their nForce boards AMD only? lulz) I really don't care about the bells and whistles they're promoting.
- Gizza, on 08/13/2008, -1/+8I wonder when we will get the point where PhysX isn't just for added effects in games and you actually need hardware accelerated physics as much as you need hardware accelerated graphics today.
I think having the same card do both is definitely a massive step forward for that. -
