Sucks not to be a power digger. - rm249, on 11/12/2009, -11/+475Weaklings
- Zetal, on 11/12/2009, -17/+415Most gamers do not have the balls to boycott a game. ...or at least boycott it and not download it instead. I swear...
- kylescousin, on 11/12/2009, -16/+364That's why the MW2 crew couldn't care less about a lame boycot.
These players need their MW fix, no matter what. - jacksons98, on 11/13/2009, -26/+301So you bought the version that you have to pay $50/yr to play online? And you still don't have dedicated servers. That makes no sense
- Sogui, on 11/13/2009, -24/+189Yea let's prove the PC market isn't worth investing in so we can get an even ***** version next time!
PC is already a fraction of the console markets, and it's easily the most pirated. "Pirating" as a recourse against a game company doesn't do any good. You're basically riding off those who ponied up to keep big game titles even on the PC.
Imagine if we all just pirated the game and played off Hamachi, I doubt we'd ever seen another PC CoD title again. - gvoakes, on 11/12/2009, -56/+199I bought it for the 360, I would have gone for the PC version but having no dedicated servers is ridiculous.
- liltbrockie, on 11/13/2009, -13/+147 Hi Robert! Hope you're having fun playing the game! Just thought I'd touch base and ask a few questions for an article I'm doing?

50. Can we have dedicated servers please? - sneakyness, on 11/13/2009, -1/+128yes and I intend to unlock the AK47 so I can be ready for it. Just a few more levels!
- rave152, on 11/12/2009, -24/+143mw2 is just another damn fps in my eyes since they took away dedicated servers
damn you IW DAMN YOU!!! - jerryjamesstone, on 11/12/2009, -41/+158That is freakin awesome!
- smashblu, on 11/12/2009, -17/+129Let's face it, the days of boycotting are over. People today are too dependent to even be able to live without internet access or cell phones, how can you expect them to arrange a successful boycott? Also, not enough people give a *****. I guarantee that 90% of the people who bought MW2 don't give two ***** about dedicated servers.
Oh forget it, don't listen to this old timer rambling on about the good ol' days of video gaming. - TheHorror545, on 11/13/2009, -38/+140
Major misrepresentations here. The screenshot is not in any way representative of all the people in that particular group. Try looking it up and checking out the full 31 pages of people and what they are playing. You will find that it is a very small minority that are breaking the boycott.
Here is the link: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/BOYCOTTMW2/member ...
For those supporting the boycott this is actually a very nice list, and you should be adding them all to your dedicated server ban lists. - KalZakath, on 11/13/2009, -0/+97You also managed to make a better title, though the lack of the word "FAIL" doomed you. I am sorry to say that you never had a chance.
- ZXDrew, on 11/13/2009, -2/+98I counted 31 on the first two pages about 2 mins ago. I'm gonna have to agree with...
BOYCOTT FAIL - TheHorror545, on 11/13/2009, -6/+94Check out the XFire stats: http://www.xfire.com/
COD4 has been out for 2 years and has more time played today on multiplayer than MW2.
Is the PC boycott working? I dont know. Something is certainly not going according to plan for IW though. It will be interesting to see how these numbers look a month from now. - electricwaffles, on 11/13/2009, -19/+105Boycotting a video game? You know there's a war going on IRL, right?
- Jalh, on 11/13/2009, -15/+95Dragon Age is rocking !
- dha07030, on 11/13/2009, -10/+86***** Traitors!
- vtbarrera, on 11/13/2009, -11/+84He's obviously isn't paying his Xbox live subscription for MW2 alone. And yeah, IW's decision to not go the dedicated server route on PCs was pretty nonsensical considering the amount of overall resources necessary to have fluid 24 player action.
I'd gladly pay a subscription for the PC version of the game if they would create a consistent and reliable dedicated server system. *****, I'd buy a MW2 server if I could. - Schmich, on 11/13/2009, -10/+75And the best part is that the numbers keep growing. Over 42500 now, that's almost 500TB data transfer needed. Lets get seeding boys!
/is finally putting his 10Mb upstream to good use - DforSpiD, on 11/13/2009, -0/+64And I boycotted the crap out of that war
- ayeroxor, on 11/13/2009, -10/+73The phrase "now its just another 'x'" implies that the object of mention used to stand out from the crowd, but no longer does. English can be difficult to master; I'm here to help.
- tattertech, on 11/13/2009, -6/+64What rights are being taken away? I must have missed the amendment about having a right to dedicated servers.
- swicken, on 11/13/2009, -5/+59They could just play MW1, in 64 player games. With gameplay that really isn't all that different.
- Sryden42, on 11/13/2009, -1/+50I successfully boycotted Spore.
Then again, I heard it sucked arse and I lost interest entirely. - SpeedSteamBoat, on 11/13/2009, -1/+49I'm pretty sure the real issue is that people don't actually have any investment or real moral outrage in things like these internet "boycotts"
Boycotts work fine when they're done in protest of things like, oh I don't know, racial segregation. But a boycott over a video game not having dedicated servers? Give me a break.
I'm not buying MW2 because the changes IW made really do seem poorly considered to me, but I have no delusions about being a part of some grand movement either. - p0go, on 11/13/2009, -1/+48Here is what all the people that purchased this game for the pc have to look forward to
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WD8ZlC-9J-0
No server admins to kick or ban
and Vac works so well - fanfablebig, on 11/13/2009, -14/+61What was it before? An FPS with dedicated servers?
- Solkre, on 11/13/2009, -1/+45There's always a war somewhere.
- SirDorius, on 11/13/2009, -1/+44Out of 32 pages only the first 3 have people playing games, because the others presumably have a life or are doing other things on the computer. 110 are playing, out of which 33 are playing MW2. When one out of 3 of your 'boycott' members are playing the damn thing it's called a fail.
2 minutes and fifth grade maths > presumptions and theories - LaurelDungeon, on 11/13/2009, -0/+40No big surprise. People don't seem to understand that the point of boycott is speaking with your wallet.
- strictnein, on 11/13/2009, -0/+35@hallisna: It's always amusing to see non-developers post stuff like that.
- Jhonka, on 11/13/2009, -1/+36That's not true - if it were, it would say "In Non-steam Game"
- whytey, on 11/13/2009, -2/+36SKIDROW FTW
- Quaestor44, on 11/13/2009, -2/+34i like you
- Jensaarai, on 11/13/2009, -4/+35I don't get why you're being downvoted. That is the entire point of the image, is it not?
- EricOfTheJames, on 11/13/2009, -1/+32Lack of dedicated servers, lack of moderation (i.e. cheaters are rampant and unbannable), no lean, less maximum players (9v9) which is actually less than the first game, a game price increase to $60 from $50, and lastly they lied about nearly all of these features during development.
As for Tubal's idiotic comment, the game is now easier to steal as there are more people pirating it (more seeders). - pcpimpster, on 11/13/2009, -4/+34@Sogui has it right, XBL just knocked 1 million users off their network. Look at that kind of control vs the PC version being raped by every person on that list stealing it and there is nothing that can be done about it.
Stealing this game will only hurt the PC gaming industry as a whole. - SpectreFire, on 11/13/2009, -1/+31Modern Warfare 2 just sold 4.7 million in NA and UK day one.
I don't think Robert Bowling or anyone at Activision or Infinity Ward gives a ***** right about now. - joejitsu, on 11/13/2009, -6/+35Yeah, the corporations are ass ***** us by releasing such good products.
- sciss0rz, on 11/13/2009, -15/+43Meh. 14/1555 = 0.9% of the group. Factor in the people who joined because somebody spammed a group invite and blindly joined (if you don't get one garbage invite per day, you're doing something wrong) as well as the anti-boycotters who join for the lulz, that's a pretty good boycott. Boycott fail is like 20% playing the game.
- molobolo, on 11/13/2009, -8/+36Really? You would pay a subscription to play an FPS online? Don't most people stay away from MMOs because they think It's ridiculous to pay a monthly subscription fee to play a game you already payed $60 for?
I wouldn't be surprised if most games start charging a $5 monthly subscription fee to play online, It's a business right? It's all about the profits. DLC was the first step, soon a subscription fee would no longer be an "MMO thing". Speaking of which, Dragon Age JUST came out and it already has DLC ... Are we paying $60 for incomplete games now?
Gaming is already an expensive hobby, It's nothing compared to lets say the movie business. I don't understand why new games cost $60 while new movies cost 1/3th of that AND, most of the time, movies require more work and money to make. I guess It's because the movie business has a much larger audience. But hey, I can afford it. Can you? - Nyuura, on 11/13/2009, -2/+28i still don't see why people are still bitching at infinity ward over the pc version instead of activision who essentially made them do it that way to close the system in a way that will force people to buy maps and other DLC. thats really what all this is about. you get rid of mods and dedicated servers so that you can force people to do things your way, the activision way.
- MaxMWood, on 11/13/2009, -7/+33I've been playing MW2 Multiplayer on the 360 and I still haven't really decided if I like it. The maps are very large, impressively complex with multiple levels, many windows etc, it's frustrating never knowing where to look or what direction the enemy may be approaching from. Most of the time I'm not even thinking about killing people, just worrying about when I'm going to get shot in the back next. You seem to run a bit too fast and also die far too quickly. Also I'd like to know what the Title's and Emblems I'm being given actually mean, It's a great reward system but it'd be 10x better if Title's had descriptions. Don't get me wrong, single player is intense and enjoyable, the multiplayer maps are incredible but playing them just doesn't seem fun. Don't bury me just because "OMG. HE'S SLATING MW2!!!1". Think about the game you're playing first, then decide.
- Thud, on 11/13/2009, -0/+26Dugg (out of pity).
- rnawky, on 11/13/2009, -8/+34It's "freakin awesome" that I post this an hour before MrBabyMan yet his gets the upvotes.

Not a single digg.
***** power users. - pathouston22, on 11/13/2009, -12/+36If they are like MW2, I couldn't care less if we never saw another COD title again. I'll play the single player, but oh boy that's 5 hours of my life. Meanwhile MW1 took up 24/7/365 hours of my life at one point...then at another point...then again.
- GeeZuZz, on 11/13/2009, -0/+24FAIL is the key to SUCCESS. Remember that next time.
