for those of you who dont know what mirrors edge is... - Shippwreck87, on 08/08/2008, -0/+41I was hoping there'd be cake behind the door :(
- BestJaxx, on 08/08/2008, -3/+36When I saw the original trailer it looked like a Valve game.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -0/+32Seeing this video makes me realize how phenomenal the graphics in Mirror's edge are
- Frogee, on 08/08/2008, -0/+28This was a triumph? Maybe.
Seemed a little slow paced for mirrors edge, still pretty cool. Props to whoever made that map. - Jonmad17, on 08/08/2008, -2/+25They should have at least used the music. Cool nonetheless.
- ObeseSnake, on 08/08/2008, -3/+25People are saying this is boring but think about it for a minute...this guy made an entire level, in 3D, out of watching a trailer for another game. To be able to duplicate the textures, the scale of the buildings, etc. It's pretty impressive.
- MrFurious2k, on 08/08/2008, -0/+18Thanks for the link.
- modusop, on 08/08/2008, -0/+14Mirror's edge is what Aeon Flux should have been.
- Linkin4, on 08/08/2008, -0/+13Mirrors edge is exciting to me because for some reason the idea of a clean looking city is enthralling to me, everything looks so pristine and white in mirrors edge, cool look.
- WoollyMittens, on 08/08/2008, -0/+11And you're a loudmouth who can only defend himself using cuss words.
- TVarmy, on 08/08/2008, -0/+11Sounds almost like the Enrichment Center. Hmm...
- iDoraemon, on 08/08/2008, -0/+10Just not the same without the Asian girl, heh.
- sysop073, on 08/08/2008, -1/+11Hey, I'm making a note here: Huge Success
- JazzFlight, on 08/08/2008, -0/+10I thought Chell was an asian woman in portal...
- DanielAzarc, on 08/08/2008, -0/+9Time to get off the internet grandpa.
- FoxOrian, on 08/08/2008, -0/+8I'm actually impressed as to how accurate that person remodeled the stage, it's nearly spot-on [other scenery not taken into account.]
Pretty good eye for details and scale. - warriorscot, on 08/08/2008, -0/+7Unfortunately for the guy that made this valve don't really do the clean looking city thing, they more go for the post-apocalyptic eastern european prison city thing which makes for everything being a little dirty.
- RunnyBabbit, on 08/08/2008, -0/+6Certainly, but it's a little bit of an unfair comparison. The mapper that did the Portal incarnation didn't really do any lighting at all.
- Arasaka, on 08/08/2008, -3/+9Damn, talk about a bad Portal player...
- MOates, on 08/08/2008, -1/+6Now you're thinking with portals!
- cakerun, on 08/08/2008, -1/+6Everyone knows the song..............................
- directedition, on 08/08/2008, -1/+6So it's a parkour video game?
- whyt74, on 08/08/2008, -1/+5Thank you for that. I was completely lost.
- Frogee, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4Clean
http://news.filefront.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/ ... - blackplastic, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4Because it's a remake of the level shown at E3? Therefore because it IS made?
- MasterGrief, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4While I see where you're coming from, as a person who spent a great deal of time following the Halo PC modding community, I can say that this is nothing new. After that E3 Halo 2 trailer came out, the official Halo PC board went nuts and a team of modders banded together to build that New Mombasa level for use in multiplayer. They did a fantastic job with what they had, and if you ask me, the map they made was considerably better than anything I'd ever play in the real Halo 2 multiplayer later.
I know this sort of thing didn't START with Halo PC, but I've seen it executed in an extremely impressive fashion with it, so I wanted to mention it.
I found a simple flyover of the New Mombasa map and a poorly done recording of the map from first person; you can see both of those here: http://tinyurl.com/flyover and http://tinyurl.com/mapinfirstperson - coyote1284, on 08/08/2008, -1/+5It's hard to overstate my satisfaction (with your comment)
- MeatBallsack, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3premade?
- Remmiz, on 08/08/2008, -1/+4IMHO, it's not really that hard. A lot of mapping is done by re-creating from pictures and video.
- falafelkiosken, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3Alcorus - Shine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp1WY2ldjxE - alphabetagaga, on 08/08/2008, -6/+8I wouldn't quite say remade, but still pretty entertaining.
- BestJaxx, on 08/09/2008, -0/+2Why the hell do you have negative 6 diggs?
- brnwrig1, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2yes
- BackFall, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Yup, who needs shoes when you're thinking with portals.
- s3xt0y, on 08/08/2008, -1/+3If you haven't already, you need to pre-order mirrors edge, that game is going to be awesome.
- CATSCEO2, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Google to hard for you?
- pivovy, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1There's no cake, it's a lie.
- BobTheTaco, on 08/08/2008, -1/+2Huge success...
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -2/+3Unfortunately, I don't dig Faith's eye tattoo.
- lukensds, on 01/03/2009, -0/+1boy were you wrong.
- AzureRise, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1There was plenty of opportunities for him to go fast using jumps and still show off the level. He did it at the beginning jumping on the portal on the ground to to build momentum. He could've kept a pattern going.
- Tophillious, on 08/09/2008, -1/+2Pretty awesome. Mirror's Edge is gonna be the *****
- TVarmy, on 08/08/2008, -1/+2The Mirror's Edge people need to make a Portal Map Pack, and have it be an unlockable you can get for beating the game. Then, beating Mirror's Edge in Portal earns you an achievement.
- se1zure, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1i think he was trying to traverse the level in a similar fashion to the trailer. and at the same time demonstrate all the detaisl. of course he could of just portal'd across half the map, but them you wouldn't see all the work he put into it.
- TimeMachine1992, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1Wonder if the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device will be available in Mirror's Edge....hm...
- Evi1d33d, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1Port the map into Team Fortress 2 and use Scout instead?
- djpray2k, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1I can't help do that now in everyday situations.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1Yeah I didn't like the tattoo either, it was too cliche/anime-like.
