They are doing it for fun and to make thier fan base happy. Hats off to you Valve!

As I'm sure you are aware, many advances in gaming technology has been made over the past couple years. Well, just for instance, Steam has made leaps and bounds in it's quality and stability! Gamers all over the world can now buy all their games directly online and never have to worry about CD keys, physical media or greedy publishers. They can also chat with their best friends, game with them easily and manage a social network, all within one nifty program! Also, Valve should be paying me for this :)
