- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+31This is amazing news!!
First off, I would assume 360 guitars work with it, which is nice. But better yet, imagine the hackability.
Frets on Fire is nice, but it feels nothing like a guitar hero game. This + hacked custom songs = buy. - negativefx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28FoF is hardly better. Are you delusional or have you just never actually played GH?
- Jokermx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24"No longer content to be hooked up to your big screen HDTV and 7-channel surround sound system"
You can connect your surround sound system to your PC, and there also are monitors tha handle resolutions much higher than 1080p TVs - themarq, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20Awesome, this is great news. As a commited PC gamer I was sorely tempted to give in and buy an Xbox just for this title (also Gears of War), now I can get my shred on with my laptop... in a hotel room, at a friend's house, on the bus, in a public men's room. Whatever.
wheeee! - merreborn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Hi, I'm merreborn. I play WoW, Frets on Fire, and a few casual/indie games on my macbook. Nice to meet you.
- neodorian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Frets on Fire is a fun game to play, especially with the Guitar Hero controller. Still, it lacks the polish of the commercial game and it crashes on me sometimes. Also a lot of the songs I get are transcribed very poorly. Only some of them are actually fun to play.
- CRiZ, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Hope it will be possible to use the Wii Guitar on Mac, I guess since it will use the Wiimote we can use DarwiinRemote to play GH3 on PC/Mac with the wii guitar. =)
- WhiteIce89, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Whoa whoa whoa. Nobody gives a *****.
- juicebag, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11*insert 234th comment about FoF*
- razmig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5why not take shrooms and stomp heads, or snipe people out my window, or maybe drive at amazing speeds and cut people off on the mass pike , or operate on people in the hospital rather than on my DS?
i know i don't have the best argument, but there is a very distinct difference between getting drunk and playing guitar hero with your friends and getting drunk and trying to have a musical jam session. - themarq, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4frets on fire is good fun, but a pale imitation of the GH games, the stage isn't there, there's no progression.. F of F is more of a play it and forget it type of thing. I like the progression of the GH games.
I am giddy as a schoolgirl at the idea of getting this game soon - juicebag, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5How would that be profitable for them?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_desktop_operating_systems
Anyway, if you want to play games, don't use Linux. - LoveWidescreen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3WTF?! I currently run 1280 x 1024 (well within HTDV specifications), I can expand my desktop across three screens for 3840 x 1024, and my sound card can easily get 7.1 channel surround. If I buy larger flat panels, I can get even better resolution to put 1080p to shame. Sorry, but the submitter is an ignorant jackass who is a console fanboy, has no idea about PC configurations, has no idea about HDTV terminology, or all of the above.
That said, I've already reserved Guitar Hero III for the Wii, but I'd love to see it on the PC (using the Wiimote) as well. If I have to buy a separate guitar for the PC, I'll just stick with the Wii version. - JayRD, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Huh? Why does the title make it out that PC gamers have small screens and stereo systems? My PC is a media center with a 52" screen and surround sound speakers. How else am I going to enjoy my movies?
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -1/+4What level are you on?
You're certainly more than annoying. - enchanterku, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Dugg for GH in the men's room, almost as good as in the shower...
- bostonboy5, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3What a bunch of babies. What drives a person to complain about the existence of a product that they will never buy? If you don't want it, don't buy it! Its not going to raise the price of the game, its not going to degrade the quality of the console versions and ultimately will have no impact on your life whatsoever if you choose not to purchase it. Just let the computer gamers have their own damn fun. Nobody bitched when Morrowind/Oblivion were brought out for xbox/360, and then Oblivion again for PS3, even though the first 2 elder scrolls were strictly PC. Choice is a good thing and this unnecessary whining about fanboyism, etc. is just lame. The developers aren't putting any sort of burden on you, mentally or financially, so this notion of "whoring" is completely contrived.
- Disjunto, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3FoF just crashed on me and had massive controller lag, no fun to play.
- merreborn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Step Mania, the PC FOSS knock-off of DDR, has a huge community following on the PC.
- xenlab, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2spoken like a man who's never played guitar hero
- LocalH, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"Hacked custom songs" != "stealing songs and content".
- UwasaWaya, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Can't wait to see the graffiti: 4 GH time cal: 555-5458
- justice7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2or you could list the games it DOESNT have... but i dont think they give us that kind of space.
- nallelcm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It's hard to see all your hand waving over the internet
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2it takes two seconds to check your spelling by using the internet you lazy ***** bastard.
- toekneebullard, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I love Frets On Fire, but it still doesn't compare to Guitar Hero.
Also, I have no guitar controller, and can't justify buying a 360 controller for a free game. Now to buy one with a legit copy of GH3 for my PC? That's easier to justify to the wife. - Sabin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Frets on Fire is fun but its not nearly as well done as guitar hero. Judging by your post it seems that you have never actually played guitar hero and have been assuming that FoF is just as good.
- Seph7, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Lol, one for the security guys to laugh at behind the surveillance camera.
- pnig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Frets on fire is good because its free but I find the program a bit buggy. Also, the HOPO system from GH is much better. A plus for having GH3 on PC is that it will be "easier" to put custom songs on.
- Sabin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Hi there, I use my G4 Tibook for emulators and the occasional game of warcraft 3.
- logicalnoise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You know I have frets on fire with about 500 songs and I still prefer the Console versions. The hacked GH2 disks are even better than Frets on fire. Anyways we'll see GH3 runs on a whole new engien compared to the first 2.
- doshindude, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2wow, so FoF will actually have some competition now.
- m3th0dm4n, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Two words: Custom Songs
- Broccoli, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1now all i need to do is bring my laptop with guitar hero and stand on a corner with a hat on the ground. I can make miney and play a video game at the same time. ill be a new bread, a street gamer.
- racketboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1HTPC owner here too.
I've been holding out on purchasing the new-gen consoles, so this is a very welcome announcement.
My wife has been looking forward to this too.
Rock on! - gd1z, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's just not the same..
- bloominoctober, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2*****! Just one more thing to keep me from getting actual 'work' done in my cubicle.
- tuxidomasx, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3lol. good call. thats the model i have. excellent performance, especially for games.
- honorablesauce, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3This makes me happy. A
Frets on fire is incomparable to GH...3!!
3 man!! - Buckiller, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Ive found that i like a lot more of the songs on their as i do on guitar hero franchise... but it lacks polish.
Cant wait till rock band for 360! - koram0, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Sweet. Now i can chill at starbucks with my laptop and show off on guitar hero in public. Hahahahaha! Victory is mine at last. I also can't wait for the wii release. Does anyone know when the release date for wii and pc is?
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 10/10/2007, -12/+12Buried for the lame ass description. Is this what happens when a console fanboy posts articles in the PC Games section?
- spillingvoid, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1god damn it misspelled sh@t every were sorry, damned dyslexia.......It was supposed to be "replayability" not "unplayability". I also misspelled consels but I don't know the correct spelling so just be happy with what's spelled right.
- colincornaby, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Yes, despite the Mac having Quake Wars, World of Warcraft, Age of Empires 3, Command and Conquer 3, Battlefield 2142, Heroes of Might and Magic 5, and other older releases, I guess some people still have to make the "ZOMG Macs get a games!" joke...
- craterburnsu, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Yeah i've got a 61inch Samsung in the living room i do the same with.
EDIT: but it's also where my PS2 is hooked up *nuts to next-gen* so its really a moot point of why anyone would by Guitar hero for a PC. - shawnanigans, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Flash games count as games too. Good thing too because that all Macs really have. *writing this on a MacBook with a game on it knowing full well there are games for Macs but the selection is so limited*
- LaSepultura, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3I bet you have the 42" Westinghouse. I use the 37" Westinghouse for a PC monitor.
- Seph7, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Don't be a douchebag, don't know why im wasting my time writing this comment when all your doing is trying to start an argument, grow up
- MagicCake, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0Yeah, but he meant real games. WoW is the closest to that, but still doesn't qualify. Anything else?
- zachshmack, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Imagine all the custom content!
