- maxsunset, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Wow. This book leaves nothing to the imagination! In some parts of this, there is full worded nudity, imagine! It allows the readers to engage in graphic sex. Highly inappropriate for a book marketed to teenagers! The book may be for adults, but who ends up reading it? If you look at the statistics, who's reading books? Adolescent males, not their fathers. And here is how they see women, they see women as these perfect people, these overachievers, they don't see women as being valued for anything other than their perfection. Sure a young boy can read this and choose not to interpret the sexual content, but I'm sure that'll be exactly what he'll choose (sarcasm). I gotta go with the research on this one, there's a new study out of the University of Maryland that says boys that read books cannot tell the difference between what they read in a book and the real world if they don't have an experience.

- EatingPie, on 01/24/2008, -52/+85You know, I have a real problem with this.
We're rightly upset about the Mass Effect review when Lawrence didn't play the game. That was certainly wrong of her. However, in response, we're doing the exact same thing: putting up reviews of a book we never read. How is this any better? Aren't we just stooping to the same level?
Real justice would be engaging Lawrence and/or her editors on what she did, explaining that it was wrong, and (hopefully) her admitting she made a mistake and recanting. But as it stands, this is just revenge. A tit-for-tat. And if it was wrong for her to do it in the first place, it's wrong for us to do it back.
-Pie- ubitendo, on 01/24/2008, -13/+35SILENCE!!!!!!!!!
You must never expose stupidity when the Internetz does it! - stackered, on 01/24/2008, -9/+12Agreed. Gamers have to deal with this kind of ***** all the time, I don't get why now we are retaliating against some unimportant author. The only thing this is doing is really making her more famous anyway which can't hurt her sales (especially after they removed customer reviews). We should really target more important people against gaming such as politicians and actually do something against them instead of just bitch. I'm really disappointed in the gaming community choosing the weakest target and attacking her, no better than she did to us.
- wild, on 01/24/2008, -9/+57Actually, there are two ways to look at this:
1.) Almost all of them are reviewing the author, not the book, which is still fair game when your talking about someone trying to profit from their credibility
2.) Eye for eye, like the Bible says.- majinace, on 01/24/2008, -12/+5Eye for an eye is a misquote, if you've ever heard of "turn the other cheek" that's what the new testament wants you to do.
- dinobot, on 01/24/2008, -0/+27if you're jewish, the new testament doesn't count
- ComradeRikhi, on 01/24/2008, -8/+5If you're an atheist, none of that ***** counts.
- majinace, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2I'm happy there is so much jewish intrest here. I just checked and the hebrew bible also has similar sayings of turn the other cheek in Lamentations. I'm sure the Koran does too as they all seem to say similar things.

- Scrappy1850, on 01/24/2008, -5/+50Your comment carries more weight because you signed it at the bottom.
- snds, on 01/24/2008, -5/+11Great justice is being served. The mentality of the attack is based upon "do unto others." The internetz are sorrowless. If someone like Lawrence wants to be credible then she needs to do the research needed to make an informed opinion, otherwise she is a flagrant mouthpiece for the opinion of someone else, in this case, namely Fox News. Sure the internet is stooping to Fox's level but Fox News has no problem blatantly falsifying reviews, censoring political news, and dares to call American Idol "news".
Remorse...there is none on the internets. - RetlawST, on 01/24/2008, -2/+14That's never going to happen, however. Fox News has no intention of making itself look like an idiot so they will only offer debate if the can stack the deck in their favor. I agree it's juvenile and am not going to participate, but at the same time it's cultural backlash against the crap that people think they can get away with.
- pauleric, on 01/24/2008, -4/+27Sorry, this is Digg. Maturity and logic will get you nothing but dugg into oblivion. Hmm...Oblivion...
- Solis, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Why would anyone ever want to be mature? Who the ***** wants to grow up?
- jayhawk88, on 01/24/2008, -4/+11Normally I would agree with this "let's be reasonable" sentiment, but in this case, I think making these brash, negative, uninformed reviews is actually doing a good job in highlighting the author's own brash, negative, uninformed comments about Mass Effect.
- TheCheeks, on 01/24/2008, -2/+21Just fighting fire with fire
- sdellboy, on 01/24/2008, -6/+30Pie - I agree with what you say but....spamming her book with bad reviews is just SOO much more fun than taking the more mature route of protest....
- kaelyiesta, on 01/24/2008, -2/+9Well, punishment has two valid(ethical) uses. Punishment to rehabilitate, and punishment to prevent. Doing this is certainly a punishment, just not of the first kind. If the intent is to make other anti gaming advocates more wary of pulling ***** like that, then it is justified. Even though you are probably right and that many of these reviews are simply to 'get back' at the author, the result is still the same. Yes, many are doing it for revenge, but the same benefit arises had they had a better motive: Author takes note that she cant say just anything she wants without evidence and hopefully so do other anti gaming advocates. My point is that while the motive may be bad(revenge), the action still probably results in net good(less ***** being spewed by the 'protect the children' crowd on the latest form of media in their cross hairs).
Plus, some reviewers are sticking to facts, informing potential buyers of her recent actions but not saying anything deceitful. So all in all, I think this is a good thing. - jayzeus, on 01/24/2008, -6/+6No, it's called irony. Gamers did what she did to them.
- bobartig, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1That's not ironic, its the opposite of ironic. It's fitting.
- insertAliasHere, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1That's NOT irony. That's retaliation.
- insomniac8400, on 01/24/2008, -1/+9If she is going to rate other things without having any knowledge of it, her work deserves the same treatment.
- kmattso, on 01/24/2008, -2/+12Two wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left.
- BigBoyBoobs, on 01/24/2008, -2/+3Pie I know what you're trying to say... but ppl are being absurd to her to make her fee/understand how what she did was ridiculous.
- scoottie, on 01/24/2008, -5/+3Wasn't it Hammurabi that said eye for an eye?
- Stupidumb, on 01/24/2008, -4/+3Shut your ***** ***** hole.

- GregIsLegend, on 01/24/2008, -5/+2Dude, shut up.
- DiggzDE, on 01/24/2008, -1/+9It is a lesson in irony. It is to show her that she is not the only person who can do something like this. And that her actions and lies don't keep her from receiving the same treatment.
- iamaelephant, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1Look up irony.
- p0tent1al, on 01/24/2008, -2/+6It's not really the same thing.
She makes a comment about a game she has never played. We get mad.
In retaliation, we submit bad reviews about her book. Her book is based on her ideas. She spout off on a game she had never played. If her ideas == her book (which they do) then the book sucks. I can even attest to the book sucking. It's just a bunch of common sense ***** anyone with decent intellingence would already know. - uberchaoslord, on 01/24/2008, -1/+7Actually most of them say "I'm going to go ahead and review this even though I haven't read the book" and thus are quite clever because they're spamming her down while admitting the incorrectness of their actions. You can't really be mad about that. At least they admit they haven't read the book.
- davidrools, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3I think spamming her amazon books is more effective because it's visible to the public and has more potential to directly influence her book sales. If we were all to write the publishers and other affiliated parties, they probably wouldn't do a thing since we (gamers) aren't their target market.
- ashymcgee, on 01/24/2008, -0/+8I don't agree. Cash flow is the only way to show Cooper's editors and even Cooper herself that if she's going to act like a scholar, she better do the research for the part. It's unforgivable to hide behind a degree and spout opinionated nonsense about any topic and a hit to her bank account will bring her back to said reality.
- branjb, on 01/24/2008, -4/+1[Insert obligatory comment about Pie signing his/her posts.]
- Dracusis, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1While this may seems distasteful, it's the most direct rebuke gamers can express, and when you attack someone's culture, which is what gaming has become, you walk a very dangerous line.
- gameforge, on 01/25/2008, -1/+5There is, indeed, a difference here. Gamers did nothing to her, and then she gave a good game a bogus, unfounded review. It was only THEN that gamers returned this favor.
I've never agreed with the "If it's wrong for me to do it, it's wrong for you to do it back" assertion. It's crap. It ignores the initiative taken by the first party, and that initiative - setting out to do something having not been provoked - is what's being retaliated against. The gamers had no such initiative; only an understandable and predictable reaction.
Starting a dialog with her and her editors does nothing unless it's on the air (not going to happen). Doing what's possible to cut her bottom line and embarrass her PERSONALLY will be an ultimate reminder not to rip products you haven't used and don't deserve it. Would you punch a lion in the back of the head and expect it not to turn around and kill you? Of course not. Same deal - provoking a predictable reaction. This is common sense, and she's learning it the hard way - there is no higher moral at work here.
And, by doing nothing at all, gamers offer the "silent approval" - not only is there no accountability for what's been done, it sends a message that what's been done is OK to do; there will be no consequence. This is unacceptable. - bjs3171, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1you say "us". that means you're involved in the revenge. why are you involved if you think it's wrong.
and you should probably let everyone know when you get her to apologize on camera. i'll send you a dollar. - wraith808, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2Just like EA's rational response made FoxNews change their stance? Yeah... right. This is the problem with this turn the other cheek mentality- it only works if the other person is willing to listen/change. And from the fact that she wasn't willing to listen to arguments being told *to her face*, any rational response would most likely be similarly discarded.

- control98408, on 01/24/2008, -0/+25Wow, all this and the scientology stuff. Has my generation finally mobilized to do something worthy? Hopefully they'll all go out and vote.
- merreborn, on 01/24/2008, -0/+9You'll have to call it "ANONYMOUS POLL INVASION 2008" or something, but damnit, it just might work.
- kernel16, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Put the voting polls online and its a done deal, until then meh.
- jiveturkeyblues, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1but then ron paul'd win
which i guess isn't too terrible but..it's already been decided.
- ZestyO, on 01/25/2008, -0/+0I was just thinking this last night when I first saw the story.
- merreborn, on 01/24/2008, -0/+9You'll have to call it "ANONYMOUS POLL INVASION 2008" or something, but damnit, it just might work.
- Rapture84, on 01/24/2008, -1/+39"Trying to encourage sexual acts in a book made available to young children is unacceptable." :)
- fatdog789, on 01/24/2008, -18/+4Thus proving this woman's point, that online gammers are immature pissants whose sole idea of justice is anonymous vandalism, because they're all too pussy to say anything to her face.
Way to prove that she's correct, *****!- Shawnshank, on 01/24/2008, -1/+7Because, you know, we all live next door to her and have that opportunity.
- scoottie, on 01/24/2008, -3/+4you need to edit you reply fatdog to say "Thus proving that if you lie you will be held responsible"
- Ballchinian, on 01/24/2008, -1/+3That was her point? I didn't know spreading misinformation and making false claims, had a point. If you call talking about something that you know nothing about vandalism, then she is guilty. The only difference is she did it on tv, where the uniformed take it as truth because they put their trust in people. This time, it was only a video game, but many times misinformation is spread thanks to irresponsible news channels. This has more to do with a people being tired of misinformation going out to the masses. Especially when its about a topic they know.
- mashw, on 01/24/2008, -1/+2So's your face! Ha.
- howyoudoin, on 01/24/2008, -5/+2i'd hit that!!!
- Hypermarkalan, on 01/24/2008, -1/+4Obviously you haven't seen her with her mouth open. Take a gander at those gums:http://www.cooperlawrence.com/biography.html
- p0tent1al, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2[cue sound that horses make]
- theshalit, on 01/24/2008, -1/+5with a baseball bat
- bigfatpaulie, on 01/24/2008, -1/+3...where it hurts
- bobartig, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3c'mon, she's obviously physically attractive, and it no doubt is related to her success as a published author and radio personality (that, or prodigious ***** gobbling... hrm.. yeah, I went there). But the fact remains that she's a pretentious, assuming, ignorant bitch. So in other words, I'm conflicted. I didn't leave her a crappy review, yet, but I did vote up a lot of mass effect reviews.
- Makaveli604, on 01/24/2008, -1/+2am i the only one that thinks shes ugly as *****?
- iamaelephant, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1Yes.
- Hypermarkalan, on 01/24/2008, -1/+4Obviously you haven't seen her with her mouth open. Take a gander at those gums:http://www.cooperlawrence.com/biography.html

- Eleniatari, on 01/24/2008, -1/+20From what I see, amazon.com removed all comments from the books! Guess we get to do it all again!
- ADHD, on 01/24/2008, -5/+3HAHA
EAT DIRT BITCH...seriously though...I HATE her generation. Get on the band wagon ***** on the internet but truth is you shouldn't have ever tried to censor it in the first place. Kid hits 13 or even 12 they should know about the world or they will get bit in the ass- Hurricane, on 01/24/2008, -1/+1Now, which generation would THAT be???
- mashw, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1So shagging aliens is learning about the world?
- ZeRux, on 01/24/2008, -11/+2Okay, she lied and maked an ass out of herself. But what else you can expect from Fox News journalists? Once again hardcore gamers prove to be total losers who are more emotional when it comes to their games than they show up to their families.
- NeoNevermore, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7Dude, did you just say "maked"? I don't mean to be a spell check or grammar Nazi, but come on we have to set some standards here.
- ZeRux, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2So that's why I've been dugg down. I deeply apologise for my stupidity, I wasn't trying to offend anyone, let alone grammar nazis.
- NeoNevermore, on 01/24/2008, -0/+7Dude, did you just say "maked"? I don't mean to be a spell check or grammar Nazi, but come on we have to set some standards here.
- heynow21, on 01/24/2008, -2/+6Darlin, I'm just going to have to go with the vengeance

- Zlorp, on 01/24/2008, -1/+2awesome
- Shawnshank, on 01/24/2008, -9/+2Amazon deleted all the negative reviews? Well, how about this: Spam EVERY book with negative reviews! Who's with me?
- fani, on 01/24/2008, -1/+8Why EVERY book ? What did they deserve for this ? Be sensible in your attack.
- Shawnshank, on 01/24/2008, -4/+1:D
- Devaney, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3wouldn't that take a couple years?
- Shawnshank, on 01/24/2008, -1/+2Pfft, we've got time
- fani, on 01/24/2008, -1/+8Why EVERY book ? What did they deserve for this ? Be sensible in your attack.
- scoottie, on 01/24/2008, -1/+4They pulled the reviews so we should move on to the discussion forum of that book...

- esaks, on 01/24/2008, -1/+20RABBLE RABBLE!
- fani, on 01/24/2008, -3/+5Bitch got what she deserved.
This is what happens when you review something you have no idea about. Just like how you reviewed Mass Effect without any knowledge, so too did folks on Amazon. - Makaveli604, on 01/24/2008, -5/+1/i/
- kingmanic, on 01/24/2008, -1/+7Wikipedia has locked the creation of a page for her. I think if we have any wikipedia admins to make a article, she is now notable enough to create an article on.
- jiveturkeyblues, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1i'm sure you could create a page for her at ED no problem. if it isn't already up.
- rhisc, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3Customer reviews are still on Amazon.co.uk
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cult-Perfection-Making-Pea ... - AUJapguy2004, on 01/24/2008, -2/+13Spams ahoy!
http://myspace.com/thecooperlawrenceshow- Devaney, on 01/24/2008, -1/+5haha, she's now got her ***** on LOCKDOWN, not accepting messages and won't even accept friend requests unless you know her ***** e-mail address, stupid whore.
- newJxE, on 01/24/2008, -1/+6cooper@cooperlawrenceshow.com
give that one a shot
- Devaney, on 01/24/2008, -1/+7well I know I just spent an hour of my precious time giving all her books bad reviews and marking all other bad reviews as 'helpful'...she better ***** see some of these.
- Arrestedevelopr, on 01/24/2008, -11/+4Buried for being a duplicate story. http://www.digg.com/xbox/Gamers_Strike_Back_Agains ... is only 8 stories down.
- scoottie, on 01/24/2008, -1/+8its not a dup its a continuation of that story
- Philbert, on 01/25/2008, -1/+1Maybe you need to learn a lesson from all of this and do some research before commenting.
- BlkGuyAtThePrty, on 01/24/2008, -0/+12post are all back
- scoottie, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3most of them at least
- Velirno, on 01/24/2008, -0/+8What's really hilarious is that there are negative reviews of actual readers of the book. That or some people decided to get really creative. Judging from the other titles she's written, she relies heavily on what one review smartly called "pop psychology". In other words, this woman is just giving you a list of coping skills to help deal with what will inevitably result in depression.
- cozb, on 01/24/2008, -12/+3
lets see, make comments about a book you didn't read ... you are no better than the author- ibeetle, on 01/24/2008, -1/+7Many of the comments admit the reason they are attacking her book(s). Which does make them better than her. She was just being mean.
- bigfatpaulie, on 01/24/2008, -0/+4What's good for the goose...
- Mjolniir, on 01/24/2008, -0/+3Kind of the whole ironic point... she blasts a games she has never played, so gamers retaliate by blasting a book they never read.
- scoottie, on 01/24/2008, -0/+4she is the one that has the better-then-thou attitude.
- heystoopid, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1So read the book and give us your honest opinion instead of leaving us in a vacuum of nothingness !
- RunnyBabbit, on 01/24/2008, -0/+2My parents always explained moralities to me in terms of "How would YOU feel if someone did that to you?" This is just that concept.
- Wintrmte, on 01/24/2008, -2/+1Looks like Amazon yanked the comments..
- epyon8282, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1No they didnt i was there 3 minutes ago. It's up to 433 comments.
