- dha07030, on 07/15/2008, -4/+67Downlo... I mean buy them both.
- inactive, on 07/14/2008, -9/+59Far Cry 2 vs. Crysis Warhead
^ that can be easily solved.
Crysis Warhead = PC Exclusive, and not dumbed down for consoles.
Farcry 2 = Had great potential until they dumbed it down for the console, which will stifle its PC version.
Warhead > FarCry 2
aww....who cares! I want both. - inactive, on 07/15/2008, -0/+49My graphics card is going to enjoy the double penetration
- GaidinTS, on 07/15/2008, -0/+35ARR! There be pirates in these waters!
- MarrowMan, on 07/15/2008, -0/+20Hm I hope Far Cry 2 has lots of AK-47's they are supposedly invulnerable to jamming
- SOS84, on 07/15/2008, -0/+19Nobody said it would suck because it was on a console, it just will not be as good as it could have been. (e.g. Bioshock)
- inactive, on 07/14/2008, -4/+21Oh both look awesome!
- fpaudon, on 07/14/2008, -5/+21Buried for inaccurate - the article barely talked about Crysis Warhead
- scottus0, on 07/15/2008, -1/+14Admittedly having never played the original Far Cry, I always thought of Crysis as it's spiritual successor. Besides, there have been a few other games in the Far Cry series, correct? I just have trouble considering FC2 the second in the series. Kind of like how Resident Evil 5 is about the eight (or so) in the series.
- mburk, on 07/15/2008, -1/+14I'm pretty sure she never talks about graphics cards.
- ChileanGoD, on 07/15/2008, -0/+11If you take Unreal Tournament 3 as an example... it will suck balls.
- jjb123, on 07/15/2008, -1/+12I could have sworn that said "upgrading my dick" when I read it.
- mrsanon, on 07/15/2008, -1/+11What he said :P
- Zalyster, on 07/15/2008, -0/+9It said Warhead has a new plot, characters, etc. so yes, it is on the same engine but it is a different game. So what if FC is on a new engine, that doesn't mean it'll be much better.
Although FC does sound interesting... - mikesbaker, on 07/14/2008, -4/+12Far Cry 2 is coming soon - its almost time for me to sink a grand into upgrading my deck.
- aksn1p3r, on 07/15/2008, -2/+9I'll definitely be buying them, when I upgrade my graphics ;/
- rft3rd, on 07/15/2008, -0/+7Story was a let down. It was not a this vs that story. It was a snippet on Crysis and dissertation of farcry. Where's the beef!?!?
- Phil1ip123, on 07/14/2008, -5/+11I'll be buying them both.
- Tyrghast, on 07/15/2008, -9/+15Im certainly not paying for a Crysis sequel, the first game had a poorly told story and fairly boring gameplay. Far Cry on the other hand was, wait, no, it was Doom on an island. Crytek has the potential to make a great game, but they need to pull their head out of their "lets just make it look great"-ass.
- s14sh3r, on 07/15/2008, -1/+6Why did people want Jack Carver removed? I liked his character. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get both anyway ;)
- DalamarArgent, on 07/15/2008, -1/+6Don't worry I'm sure Crytek is planning to release both games on the same day, and a week after CoD 5 and Halo 4. Then when their sales info says they sold well over a million copies of each, and they digitally distribute several hundred thousand more, they can blame piracy for their "poor" sales numbers.
/not paying or wasting my bandwidth on whiner crytek games - newsound6, on 07/15/2008, -10/+14Who cares, Crytek fails at life. They bitch and moan about piracy but don't want you to pay any attention to the fact their ***** is buggy as hell and they don't ever patch or support their product. Try getting Crysis multiplayer to work, then start thinking about selling me on your next pile of crap.
- dsmx, on 07/15/2008, -0/+4So how can you compare them when you only have info on one side?
- SteelChicken, on 07/15/2008, -0/+4dont forget to stain your deck and but a nice barbeque on it with some comfy chairs.
- sturmgiest, on 07/15/2008, -0/+4any gun can jam, stovepipe jam in an AK47 stopped one of the north hollywood bank robbers.
- Bara, on 07/15/2008, -3/+6Where's STALKER: Clear Sky? I'm more interested in that than either Far Cry 2 or Crysis Warhead...
- EvilFerret, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3Maybe a second hand car that's 25yrs old and doesn't have an engine in it. Seriously, you can easily build a rig that can run Crysis on high for less than $1000. The requirements aren't as high as most people believe.
- sturmgiest, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3and then pay 10-20$ more per game, deal with RRoD and disc drive problems, and not being able to "try" games with bittorrent, and no KB/mouse(dont bring up UT3 on PS3, its a ***** game anyways) Good luck playing starcraft 2 when it comes out. Or any other RTS for that matter.
- inactive, on 07/15/2008, -3/+6Crysis was ahead of its time (in terms of graphics) but you would think that 2 graphics cards later (for NVIDIA) that the GTX 280 would be able to play it with ease, but no. I don't understand how they can put out these super high end cards fully knowing it can't play the super high end game. AND charge up to 600 dollars. They're benchmark for success for the next card better to be able to play crysis with 4xAA Very High everything, max resolution. That's you too AMD.
- inactive, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3how about a GTA game with a full-scale city with crysis warhead graphics? or will i have to consult Google Maps' streetview?
- Schmich, on 07/15/2008, -1/+4Imo Crysis single player was pretty good but the multiplayer was terrible.
- jgtg32a, on 07/15/2008, -1/+4All of the other Far Cry games where ***** at best
- ZombieKiss, on 07/15/2008, -1/+4I don't think he's referring to graphics but controls.
I'm sure you've heard it a million times, but its true--a mouse and keyboard will beat out a controller every time. Consoles get dumbed down because players can't react fast enough on a controller like they can on a PC.
This isn't due to any fault of the player, but the thumbstick on a controller can only turn you so fast.. - Chainheart, on 07/15/2008, -8/+11I'll be buying Far Cry 2 but not Crysis WH. I was extremely let down by the original.
- exeprime, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3@ Gamoc - UT3 is UT3 on any system, and compared to UT 2k4 it's a lot poorer. The visuals are great, but everything is so complex that in the fast-paced multiplayer it's harder to tell things apart, due to extreme detail - check out TF2 for proper use of graphics - it looks great AND it helps the gameplay by providing clear shapes and colors, easy to recognize in the middle of combat.
Also, the Warfare mode is broken - Onslaught was fun, but Warfare adds unneeded complexity (adding that ball and all kind of gimmicks) which really makes it a lot harder to have a coherent strategy, as there are simply too many things to consider, and generally results in chaos. Also the maps are smaller and most of the time, kinda stupid.
As a UT player ever since the classic, I was very disappointed with UT3. Not a "fantastic" game by a long shot.
And about the control method... try playing any reasonably fast shooter with a gamepad against a mouse + keyboard player. Unless the mouse guy is a total tool, you'll be destroyed. - ImpoliteAndEvil, on 04/06/2009, -0/+3Really? He was hella generic. Did you like the trigens, too? Damn trigens.
- SOS84, on 07/15/2008, -1/+4If you think the game play is linear, you need to be a little more creative because it is anything but. And honestly, there is nothing wrong with linear gameplay when it makes sense. And honestly, how many games other than those produced by Valve have a great story? Not too many. It was in fact the best game of 2007.
- PhoenixReborn, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2Why are they even calling it Far Cry? From what I hear it has almost nothing (if anything) to do with the original. I was excited about it at first but some of it just looks gimmicky like having to put out fires, dig out bullets on the fly (totally more realistic than health packs) and unjamming guns.
- polarbear66, on 07/15/2008, -1/+3no no no
They are PORTING it for the console... this means the console version will be dumbed down, not the PC version. - Evilblobs, on 07/15/2008, -3/+5no it isnt, buy an HD4850 or something, the GT is getting old... it is more or less old.
Also, Crysis pretty much remains the one thorn in GPU's sides, 200$ mainstream cards can run most anything at 1920 (atleast, usually 2560) with eye candy turned most of the way up.
except Crysis - Kettels, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2agreed, unfortunately the Far Cry 2 level editor does not support single player levels. So Warhead tops it on my list. (yes i know Far Cry 2 single player will be massive, but they say that's the time to look around and nothing really, ive spent well over 200 hours playing peoples maps in Crysis, so imo its much better value)
- Ubergoober3, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2Boring gameplay? I'll take nonlinear do what you like gameplay over linear do it the way the devs wanted you too anyway. And how is far cry doom on a island? Is doom open ended? Does doom take place outdoors. The second half did represent doom, but the first was fps gold.
- Cyberdactyl, on 07/15/2008, -0/+2Someone there has a hard-on over FC2
- pumpyps, on 07/15/2008, -8/+10hahah this is redic. look into it guys. Crysis warhead is pretty much just an expansion pack. it costs $30 dollars, lets you drive more vehicles other than that... it's the same engine with new content. Far Cry 2 is a whole new engine, whole new story. There is no chance that warhead will even compete to be honest. I'll also bet that warhead is probably half the length, story wise, than Far Cry 2.
- stridox, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1It was a PC exclusive before they decided to bring it for consoles. Watch the videos, the PC version looks a hell of a lot better still, don't worry. Let the console fags get a ***** game, but we'll still get the PC game of the year.
- Gamoc, on 08/03/2008, -0/+1I don't own a 360, so I don't get any of that.
PS3's graphical capabilities are completely unknown right now, they're yet to reach half capacity. Whilst I'm sure when they do finally reach 100% of the PS3's capabilities the PC will have overtaken, the PC that can play it will still cost £1000s, whereas the PS3 will be much cheaper. - ImpoliteAndEvil, on 04/06/2009, -0/+1I'm glad that it's Ubisoft Montreal making FarCry 2. Crytek makes great engines, but FarCry was pretty cheesy. I still had lots of fun with it of course. They don't mention it in this article, but you can use hang-gliders like in the original, which should be fun. I'm excited about FarCry 2 because it seems to be a lot more inspired than "Crysis: Generic Stand-Alone Expansion Pack Warhead Featuring New Guy and New Weapons". I mean, the Ubisoft Montreal team actually went to Africa for inspiration. And they didn't stay in a hotel sipping on lattes, they camped in the wilderness. They even had lions approach their tents at night! That's hardcore!! Makes me feel like they REALLY want to make a great, unique gameplay experience, and you can sign me up for that.
- TommyTikal, on 01/29/2009, -0/+1Warhead was awesome stfu.
- Blablah01, on 07/17/2008, -1/+2Can't we just like both equally?
