It's absolutely horrible how wow can ruin pplz lives and make their faces all blurry ^-^ - Scopitone, on 02/17/2008, -12/+238More like, "Man Finds Way To End Loveless Marriage In The Most Non Confrontational Way Possible"
- ZephyrNinety, on 02/17/2008, -8/+204So what. You lose one wife, you keep 2000 gold and 20 Large Prismatic Shards
- t0nic, on 02/17/2008, -4/+126"On one such occasion, she had set aside 30 minutes to watch a favorite TV show together, but he refused because he was in the middle of a raid and could not understand why she was upset that he stood her up"
I can just see the conversation now:
Wife: "Honey come over here and watch this amazing new Gilmore Girl's episode"
Husband "COME ON WOMAN I CAN'T BE DISTURBED TO LEAVE MY RAID~! WE KILLING ILLIDAN STORMRAGE HERE"
Wife:"But but...its Gimore girls and Rory is..."
Husband "GEEZ leave me alone here"
Football Sunday at my place:
Girlfriend "hey honey you want to watch American Idol with me?"
Me: "WHOOOOT TOUCHDOWNN!@!!>"
Me: "American Idol? Here's a remote to TV in kitchen....please vacate the room"
Somehow these two scenarios seems um....quite similar - Etchii, on 02/17/2008, -8/+119She BOUGHT him the f'n game!!!
EPIC FAIL! - spoodigity, on 02/17/2008, -7/+117I recently quit and sold my account for over $400. You can quit too! Do it.
- WalesAlex, on 02/17/2008, -32/+140Dugg for playing WoW with the monitor turned off.
- amrush4th, on 02/17/2008, -26/+125If this lady thinks that life would be perfect with no WOW its just sad. If the man was going to ignore her then he would have used one excuse or another.
- SirTheGuy, on 02/17/2008, -5/+96My wife plays WoW with me :-)
- MasterPlayer, on 02/17/2008, -1/+80Hope he had a pre-nup, or she will try and take half his loot!
- rolf, on 02/17/2008, -7/+81Somehow I'm glad I never even started. Ignorance is bliss.
- Jenovaside, on 02/17/2008, -2/+56He may not have a wife but he is the coolest person in the world.
of warcraft. - positron, on 02/17/2008, -6/+58Exactly. WoW was the tool, not the cause.
- alperea, on 02/17/2008, -2/+50So the fact that he raids all day and night must mean that he has more purple items than Grimmace. Doesn't that turn her on? It's not like hes a noob or anything.
- Bloodwine, on 02/17/2008, -3/+50Pshaw, that guy's casual.
- BigBallistix, on 02/17/2008, -2/+49Two keyboards, two different systems.
- doshindude, on 02/17/2008, -19/+65Just another reason not to play WoW
- SlvrEagle23, on 02/17/2008, -1/+45Next headline on Digg: "Wife Divorces Husband Over DKP Distribution in Tempest Keep"
- mimigins, on 02/17/2008, -5/+48I'm getting really tired of these "she was probably ugly" comments. They were married for 6 years. Obviously he found her attractive for at least 5 of them.
WoW is not the entire problem, she didn't try hard enough and he tried too hard to get away. It's a marriage problem, not a "she was too ugly LOLOLOL LET'S SEE SOME PIX" problem. - Etchii, on 02/17/2008, -1/+42Lucky son of a bitch!
- GreyICE, on 02/17/2008, -3/+43Yeah, and then she bitched about how much it hurt her that they didn't watch a TV show together.
And women wonder why men don't get them.
Men: "Hmm, she doesn't want to watch a TV show with me. Guess she doesn't like the show."
Women: "He won't watch a TV show with me! Doesn't he understand how this damages our relationship together?" - mleaman, on 02/17/2008, -29/+67Who is really at fault here? WoW, or the woman who can't make herself more interesting than a computer game?
- mimigins, on 02/17/2008, -8/+41Or the man who lost touch with reality...? He wasn't just abandoning HER, she's just the one who reported the problem.
- lukeduff, on 02/17/2008, -24/+57I found myself wondering how fat she is while reading the article.
- blackjack75, on 02/17/2008, -0/+30I never started WoW for the same reason I never tried narcotics: I am pretty sure I would like it.
- tcpip4lyfe, on 02/17/2008, -0/+29I got 300 bucks for mine a year ago or so. Feels good to quit.
- theodenking, on 02/17/2008, -1/+28For once I don't agree with the pro-gamer argument. I don't know a single person who plays WoW who doesn't play it way, way too much.
- Outdoor83, on 02/17/2008, -1/+26Oh c'mon, there's some wisdom to this. My wife started playing Guild Wars. And while I can get her away from it sometimes, she sure does play a LOT. I realized I had a decision: either our marriage suffers greatly, or I start playing Guild Wars myself. I don't play that much and still consider it a "when there really is nothing else to do" activity, consider the following:
1) We can have conversations about it, and I'm proficient enough to know what she's talking about, and contribute to the conversation
2) We can do things together in the game, so I get to spend more time with her
3) I get to know her online friends somewhat, so it doesn't feel like I'm cut out of her life and social circle
It's like anything else... if your partner takes up a hobby and gets very involved in it, you'll get along better if you get involved with it, as well. For all of you who are in this woman's situation (and where it isn't quite as severe): consider this as an alternative. - threemagic, on 02/17/2008, -12/+35Technically his parents raised a weak willed child who grew into a weak willed adult. Playing a game is a normal, healthy thing to do, playing a game every second of every free moment you have..is not.
As for why the marraige fell apart, maybe pics would help. If she looked like Jessica Alba I bet he could pull away from the game. - elizabethb221, on 02/17/2008, -17/+39Dugg for feeling this woman's pain.
- SlvrEagle23, on 02/17/2008, -1/+22...until your ass gets banned when she calls up her old GM friends crying...
- nmcvicke, on 02/17/2008, -0/+213000 Gold and 50 Prismatic Shards and you have a deal!

- Lassan, on 02/17/2008, -3/+21Buried because.. because I can.
- confusednazgul, on 02/17/2008, -0/+18I love how everyone is trying to blame the wife here. WoW isn't at fault either - the jackass who couldn't take control of his priorities is the problem.
- inactive, on 02/17/2008, -2/+20ya it rly is ^_~ poor pplz :(
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -0/+18Na, just have them roll a gnome warrior as soon as they're tall enough to reach the keyboard ;)
- GreyICE, on 02/17/2008, -5/+21Lets see. They were high school sweethearts (if you read the actual article, and not the blogspam), they never went for marriage counseling, she dropped him pretty quick, with what sounds like pretty minimal effort (no huge confrontation, no fight, no back and forth like happens with REAL addiction). To top it off, according to the real article, he's now playing WoW much less. Nice 'addiction' there.
So loveless? Yeah, it sounds like it. She found an excuse to end it that justifies it to herself in such a way that its his fault. Him, being absurdly passive aggressive, got what he wanted. So they're both happier now, and WoW was responsible for their happiness! - bosssmiley, on 02/17/2008, -3/+19PROTIP: girls; be more interesting than a computer game.
- catfuds, on 02/17/2008, -2/+18Quit the WoW at Christmas, after 2 years of button mashing, deleting all my characters; felt so good to get out of the endless grind. Now where did I put my copy of CoD4...
- ChristBehemoth, on 02/17/2008, -5/+20WoW strikes again!
- Boonharbor, on 02/17/2008, -3/+18World of Warcraft-Stealing your soul for 15 dollars a month.
...now also stealing away your marriage - Outdoor83, on 02/17/2008, -1/+16I agree with nmcvicke. You can't be sure of that, and they had known each other since kids. If a marriage for many years is going swimmingly and fails in 9 MONTHS after the introduction of WoW, it's not too off-the-wall to say that WoW was responsible.
This doesn't make WoW bad. This is simply sad that a marriage was wrecked due to video game addiction, just like it's sad when it gets wrecked because of anything else. - tcpip4lyfe, on 02/17/2008, -0/+14Yes. Especially when you get stoned all the time and play. I didn't do anything at all for a year. When I sold my account I had 200+ days play time.
- Travelsonic, on 02/17/2008, -9/+23No.
Another reason to be responsible when playing WoW. - mimigins, on 02/17/2008, -9/+23Nice shallow comment there.
