- KotoOni, on 08/31/2008, -2/+53What excellent customer service!
/Sarcasm - AshamedAmerican, on 09/01/2008, -4/+51Don't pre-order games.
- seaprince1, on 08/31/2008, -5/+52***** EA
- sinrtb, on 08/31/2008, -1/+47What a bunch of dicks.
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -2/+29screw EA, my BF2 still doesn't work right
- BTallack, on 09/01/2008, -1/+24"so if you 'happy' to change your address"?
- vassoom, on 09/01/2008, -0/+19The EA Enrichment Center regrets to inform you that this next [pre-order process] is impossible. Make no attempt to solve it. The EA enrichment center apologizes for this clearly broken [pre-order process].
Once again, the EA enrichment center offers its most sincere apologies on the occasion of this unsolvable [pre-order process]. Frankly, this [pre-order process] was a mistake. If we were you, we would quit now. No one will blame you for giving up. In fact, quitting at this point is a perfectly reasonable response.
Quit now and cake will be served immediately. - goldliop, on 09/01/2008, -0/+19Heard about this from a friend a couple months back. He pre-ordered about 8 months back. Being in the military he moves around quite a bit, and he ran into the same issues as the person in the article. Worst part is purchasing a sold out collectors edition, just to have your order be canceled, and unable to rebuy the order you already made. -_-
Bunch O Tards. - rabidbob, on 09/01/2008, -0/+16I think your main problem right now is the knife in your throat.
- raydeen, on 09/01/2008, -1/+14I remember EA when it was a real company with real games and a real vison: Pinball Construction Kit, M.U.L.E., Archon, etx. Now it, like Atari, is just a shadow of what it used to be. The 80's was a wonderful time that will never happen again. EA, Atari and Activision should just ***** die.
- CoreyHalliwell, on 09/01/2008, -0/+11"Your order has been cancelled per your request. We cannot re-create your order. Please attempt to purchase your game from some other online source as we are sold out."
He never cancelled it? What kind of customer service is that? Imagine it at like Domino's Pizza or something "Yeah well you wanted to change the location of your order, and well to be honest we're too ***** lazy so yeah go order from somewhere else". Even then my analogy sucks because the pizza could be on its way already!. EA has 8 ***** months to deal with address changes. Not only that, what happens in this "secretive processing facility"? Does some retard sit there counting the copies sold? DURR, 1, 2, 3... What a bunch of Dongs.
Sorry 2:30am Rant. - Hazardc, on 09/01/2008, -2/+13im not sure who i hate more, EA or the Consumerist..
/swallows a knife - BinderGang, on 09/01/2008, -3/+14My girlfriend once preordered a Sims expansion pack from EA. She was supposed to get it a few days before it came out, if I remember correctly. She received it a month after everyone could just walk into a store and pick it up.
- Fremen93, on 09/01/2008, -0/+10Sadly, I am constantly dealing with this kind of customer service at a variety of companies. EA is not alone in this...maybe they're all outsourcing their customer service to the same incompetent companies.
- raydeen, on 09/01/2008, -0/+10That cake is a ***** lie.
- darkchild82, on 09/01/2008, -0/+10Yeah, 'cos making money isn't worth all that trouble.
- DoXiD, on 09/01/2008, -1/+10haha.
The best part was when they asked the same questions all over again:
following information:
- Order number:
- Full name used to place the order:
...
And then replied that they already had it, there's a old saying. "EA is run by a bunch of highly trained monkeys" and i actually think it's true. - Vaktathi, on 09/01/2008, -1/+9EA is probably one of the worst companies in existence in terms of customer service, interfering with developers, and generally turning great games and franchises into crap.
That said, I was able to get my address changed for my Warhammer Online CE pre-order. I ordered through EB Games, and while I wasn't able to get the Invoice address changed (which wasn't a deal for me, but I can see exactly where it could have) I *was* able to get the Shipping address changed, although the guys at EB games were obviously not happy about it.
Oh, and EB games somehow also had managed to send me Pre-Order codes that were already in use :P, although they eventually took care of that after two weeks >:O - oveedrx, on 09/01/2008, -1/+7I'm pretty much the battlefield fans have told them time and time again.. I'm certain EA can tell they suck
- pcx99, on 09/01/2008, -0/+6Upmod for M.U.L.E and Archon.
- Sakumi, on 09/01/2008, -2/+8a] Nobody was talking about this. You're a moron for bringing it up.
b] Some people want something more than a softcore game like WoW
c] Who cares about sheer numbers. It may not boast 10 million subscribers (erhm.. 3mil bots and 7mil real people), but it will boast a large number and will sustain itself nicely.
Get over WoW. Seriously. - Gimjee, on 09/01/2008, -0/+5So, because someone decides to move, they decide to not sell him their game and not make money off of it? What do they have to lose from it exactly?
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -2/+7lolol EA. What a ***** up of a company.
- AndrewDB, on 09/01/2008, -0/+5Makes you feel old.. doesn't it Raydeen? :(
- Llanowar, on 09/01/2008, -4/+9-Collectors Edition
-Having it a few days earlier
-Unable to get it around where you live
Those are a few possibilities - KableKiB, on 09/01/2008, -1/+5SHAZAM!
- bjornski, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4Because it would mean "patching" their info.
And we all know how good EA is with patches. - anachronaut, on 09/01/2008, -1/+5I have fond memories of staring at that old EA logo as I waited (and waited and waited...) while loading Mail Order Monsters, Bard's Tale, etc., on the C64. I used to respect that company and their work, but look at the sloppy beast that they've become. Your post is spot-on.
- Clbck, on 09/01/2008, -2/+6WAR preorder gives you access to open beta, and a headstart. And if you preorder the CE, you had a chance to get into the Preview Weekend (last week).
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4Wow, I really think the sarcasm wasn't needed.
Then again, there's always That Guy™. - Serinus, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4It's gotta be a CS bot.
No, I'm sorry, they can't replace humans yet. - oveedrx, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4Yea .. the lack of updates made me quit that game.. i still play off and on .. its sad, I loved to play that game but all the unbalances ie. J-10 just made it really infuriating. but karkand never gets old. I highly doubt that a newer patch then 1.41 (current) will be released
- Novacain, on 09/01/2008, -1/+5I'm one of those fans. EA sucks. The internet should boycott them and people should refuse to buy any game with an EA logo in it.
- iammatt00, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4Don't use EA?
- inactive, on 09/01/2008, -1/+5I'm in the same boat here. Apparently an update is in the works... it was announced back in June through the BF website. I'm crossing my fingers... I know it will probably be a while before it comes out. I've been playing since 2005 and although I take a break to try other games, I just keep coming back to BF2, it's that good. I wish they would just remake the whole game in the Bad Company engine. I would buy it for sure.
- Nextrix, on 09/01/2008, -0/+4Customer Service is over rated. You think by now the world would understand this, and just learn never to rely on it. It's going to get worst than this, some CS managers are even thinking of moving most of there Q&A system to web based ticketed FAQ systems. Next we will get all CS calls answered by a voice automated bot based on this new FAQ term based system. You can just call in an say the keywords of the problem you are having and it will answer back based on its search results in the system database. You know it is coming, anything they can do to save a buck and keep you happy enough to not give a *****.
- Rosco, on 09/02/2008, -0/+3***** pre-ordering games
- darthjure, on 09/01/2008, -0/+3And by the way, the "Collectors Edition" will be worth approximately 5 cents more than the regular edition in about 20 years.
- Cockslap, on 09/01/2008, -1/+4Mythic Entertainment = Good
EA = ***** *****
I wept the day EA bought Mythic because I knew they would manage to ***** up something that wasn't broken (like they always do)
***** YOU EA, ***** YOU AND DIE. - grandinferno, on 09/01/2008, -0/+3...creating the cluster ***** that is their customer service department.
- CoreyHalliwell, on 09/01/2008, -0/+3Yeah some guy took the time to make a spoof article stating that he didnt get his game. Piss Off.
- pcx99, on 09/01/2008, -2/+5Like it matters. With WoW in the market a sold-out collector's edition of Warhammer Online is worth about as much as the collector's edition of Ishtar ;) In a few months this guy will realize that EA did him a huge favor ;)
- ikayto, on 09/01/2008, -0/+3sounds like he was talking to an outsourced worker in India.
- mrsachmo, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2Well, when I preordered NHL 95, they were able to change my address. But when I got the box, it was packed in anthrax spores.
- Fhwqhgads, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2>>>> When Micah pointed out that it might not be the best idea to sell games eight months in advance without a way to update addresses, Electronic Arts canceled his order altogether and told him to find another copy somewhere else.
Sure thing. Another copy of their competitor's game. You know the one. - Jhiaxuz, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2Obviously their games should be more important to you than moving.
- iticu, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2He did move, that's the problem.
- jameshighmore, on 09/01/2008, -1/+3I'm going to go ahead and say I LOVE EA.
Just incase they're watching Digg, and happen to feel like cancelling a few random Spore orders. - wrathofg0d, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2I don't think Mythic had enough money to fund Warhammer Online by themselves.
- bjornski, on 09/01/2008, -0/+2And passing the savings on to you!
Oh wait.... -
