- rancidrabbit, on 11/08/2007, -4/+35If i try to play this my computer will explode.
- Fanrir, on 11/02/2007, -0/+28And in other news...New Egg reports sales 100x greater than normal.
- sporb, on 11/08/2007, -1/+27will my 386sx run this? or do i need to upgrade to a dx?
- noseeme, on 11/08/2007, -2/+26Shoot the turtle... Shoot the turtle... DON'T SHOOT THE TURTLE!!!!!!

- Paranoidmarvin, on 11/02/2007, -1/+20I better have the Fire department on speed dial for this
- pushmouse, on 11/08/2007, -0/+18Its a fantastic game but it is also the worst poultry farmer simulator ever.
- MadMan2k, on 10/29/2007, -0/+15320x240 of course...
- TyroPyro, on 10/29/2007, -0/+15It's not designed to be for a mainstream PC, but more as something that top-of-the-line PCs can run at medium settings. The game is really fun and beautiful, even though it makes my 8800GTS cry =) It actually does look a bit different in DX10 too: http://webpages.charter.net/bliss/
- Perk, on 10/30/2007, -0/+14High settings for Crysis are really like the "Ultra" settings were for Doom 3 a few years back, or Flight Sim X high settings. Crytek is trying to do a little "future proofing" by providing a level of detail higher than what can be expected to run on todays top of the line hardware.
This is obviously more about marketing for game engine liscensing than it is about consumer re-playability. There are arguments on both sides, but I consider it a benefit for the players as well. I just finished a quick replay of Far Cry, and appreciated how well that stands up with all the settings maxed. I'm sure I'll look forward to playing Crysis a second time three or four years down the road. Assuming of course it's worth finishing the first time... the demo is promising.
As for demo performance - I'm playing on medium - DX9 (haven't bothered with Vista yet) at 1920x1200 at around 40fps. AMD FX60 clocked to 2.8 - 2gb ram - single 8800gtx water cooled and clocked. - fatadamblog, on 10/29/2007, -1/+15http://games.internode.on.net/filelist.php?filedet ...
Over 13K Downloads and counting! - spudnic, on 10/29/2007, -0/+13Grass is green.
- Slackdragon, on 10/29/2007, -0/+12I can see where this will rapidly become THE game by which all new hardware is benchmarked.
- Sedako, on 10/28/2007, -1/+12I seriously doubt you "maxed out a few months ago". I spent $1000 to upgrade almost a year ago and can run Crysis smoothly at high settings. Some people can also run this on 4 year old 9800 pros... Did you forget to install your new hardware or something?
- BabyWookie, on 11/08/2007, -1/+11You're a ***** liar.
- shadowblade989, on 10/29/2007, -0/+9I dont even meet the hard drive requirements on this computer :(
- FBMGriever, on 11/08/2007, -0/+9Ive had it for a few days now and while the game is visually outstanding, I agree that the game kinda chugs even on some very powerful machines.
For example, I ran mine on 1900x1200 resolution with the settings all at high (except for volumetric and particle effects) with the following setup:
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS
Intel Quad Core @2.4Ghz
2Gb PC6400 Patriot Ram
(the rest really isnt as important..)
And the game ran pretty well but keep in mind, it did lag. I just wanted to see how it played at those specs. For me to play comfortably, I put the resolution down a couple notches and had to put water quality at Medium. Nonetheless, I can't wait for the full version to come out. I'm definitely gonna pick it up. - spudnic, on 10/29/2007, -0/+9Nah, pick up the turtle and hoy it at a Korean
- Dsn989, on 10/29/2007, -0/+8Hijack for nzone! (nvidia's seemingly unlimited speed game mirrors)
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_crysis_downloads ... - Protonz, on 10/29/2007, -0/+8I tried to pick up the turtle, I accidentally punched him to death. So sad.
- lordtyros, on 10/29/2007, -2/+10Fortunately, most people don't use their computer exclusively for gaming. And they're really not worried about you. Computer parts get cheaper over time, so a year or two from now, these requirements will really not be anything special. That's just the way the industry works.
- Overshee, on 10/28/2007, -2/+9My 2 year old computer with 2 7600GTX's runs it on medium beautifully
medium STILL looks amazing. (High goes at like .5 fps) - spudnic, on 10/29/2007, -0/+7I don't understand people's problem with the extra setting, what's the alternative? Take it out?
- kidcodea, on 10/29/2007, -0/+7dude, if only u knew what you were talking about...
- Mononuclear, on 10/29/2007, -1/+8If you mean you maxed out your 10 year old system with the fastest p3 cpu and maxed out the memory of 1gb and got the fastes PCI (not PCIe) shared memory video card you can find.. then maybe...
I can run crysis at max settings and my system is over a year old. - inactive, on 10/28/2007, -1/+8Why are you guys digging tehpwnrate down? He is absolutely right.
My machine cost me about $600 not including the monitor and Windows XP. https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/Publ ...
You may not be able to play it on max settings, but medium is amazing too! - OJXs, on 10/29/2007, -0/+7yeah I played it on low, and it still looked good
turned it up to high just to see what it's like, a slideshow wan't very fun - Overshee, on 10/29/2007, -0/+6Oh, and that was on 1680 by 1050
- lordtyros, on 10/29/2007, -0/+6You think YOU had a slow computer? MY computer was an abacus.
- lacronicus, on 10/29/2007, -0/+5Mind elaborating a bit? the game ran just fine for me, and theres no way that that is all you have to say about it. The AI was easily the best I've ever seen, the physics were great, the story (dialogue and such) were extremely good, you can't jsut say "it sucks" and expect people to agree with you.
- chedabob, on 10/28/2007, -0/+5It's a shame the animals don't have proper collision detection, cos I tried to put a chicken in the back of the pickup truck and it just fell through.
- CyberSteve, on 10/31/2007, -2/+7Intell p4 3.2GHZ
1GB RAM
128mb ATI x300
runs fine on mine, all settings on low but definately playable :) - herrferret, on 04/03/2008, -0/+5Oh, We dreamed of abacus's! My computer was a piece of string with knots in it, in a bear trap, covered in poison and suspended over a swamp. And we had to walk uphill to get to it. both ways!
- noseeme, on 10/29/2007, -7/+1213,000 is OVER NINE THOUUUUSAAAAANNNNNNNNDD!!!
- tehpwnrate, on 10/29/2007, -11/+16Dude, my computer cost me less than $600 last year, and it runs the game beautifully. It looks amazing on medium at 1280x1024, and I have no frame rate issues.
- cnot3, on 10/28/2007, -0/+5bittorrent: http://isohunt.com/download/28111346/crysis+demo
- bwpayne, on 10/29/2007, -2/+7tomorrow the 8800gt comes out and according to a few reviews it performs very well in crysis even matching the performance of an 8800gtx.
Only it will be several hundred dollars cheaper. 200-300 range - KloroFormd, on 10/29/2007, -0/+5Not in TX.
- inactive, on 10/29/2007, -1/+6Computer nostalgia posts. Subsequent posts will follow the pattern of "you think YOU had a slow computer? MY computer was....." followed by slower and slower computer specs.
- SNIa, on 10/28/2007, -0/+4I run the game roughly around 35fps @ 1600x1200. I can't use AA, game chugs.
Geforce GTX 768MB, Quad Core Q6600@3.0GHz, 8GB of RAM. I've seen the game use up to 1.5GB of RAM on itself.
If you want to play this game on max settings with very good performance, you'll have to buy the next gen video card around Christmas. Geforce 9800 or Radeon HD2950+ ? - Chandon, on 10/29/2007, -0/+4Let me translate a bit:
"The engine is sluggish and poorly designed" means "I tried to play at max settings and it was laggy."
"Game had an interesting concept, though." means "This game is so awesome, why am I too stupid to turn the graphics down a notch so it will run well."
"Bioshock runs leaps and bounds around this game." means "This other game runs at max settings on my hardware, so obviously every new game should too." - inactive, on 10/28/2007, -0/+4www.nzone.com has a download that i sustained 600k a second through.. its on the front page.
no subscriptions and no waiting. Just click and save. - PurpleYonder, on 10/29/2007, -0/+4The spikes you are referring to are most likely caused by your GPU overheating.
- chris9902, on 10/29/2007, -1/+5You're trying to run it at 1900x1200? Are you f'ing insane?
You would need a rig twice as good to run it like that. - Fanrir, on 10/28/2007, -0/+4Very nice, thank you. 800+KB/sec. You get my digg.
- LoganT, on 10/28/2007, -0/+3I was a little confused about the minimum system requirements. I guess 2.8 or 3.2 refer to Pentiums.
- NeoSporin, on 10/29/2007, -6/+9Sooner than expected? It was supposed to be released last month...
But it is poorly optimized and struggles to get 25+ FPS on quad core, sli 8800 ultra machines. - Frosty122, on 10/29/2007, -0/+3sounds like artifacts! graphics card seems to be over heating.....
